The Ayto is our kite for big air and kite loops to send stratospheric tricks.

Presentation

All about performance, this exceptional kite is aimed at the most demanding and committed riders.

Faster, more maneuverable, the Ayto generates monstrous lift. It’s made to boost airs like never before. Its high aspect ratio provides great stability, allowing for powered-up riding and clean pops.

With its ultra-light and rigid UPE Aramid structure, we were able to refine the diameters by almost 15%. The Ayto DP gains enormously in lightness and glide, with formidable accelerations in all phases of flight.

The Double Profile innovation is a revolution in terms of flying quality of a kite. By combining stability and speed, it ensures undisturbed air flow. Your kite gains 30% efficiency: it goes faster, lifts you higher and longer, accelerates in less wind, is more stable at the zenith... It is better in all aspects of flight and steering.

We have pushed the reduction in diameter on the tips even further with the Low Drag System which was first invented for wing foiling: very thin tips which do not drag air. The rigidity of the tip is ensured by a small carbon batten. More speed, predictability, and precise handling because your rear lines activate the carbon batten: zero inertia, zero deformation, the kite reacts instantly.

Loops are executed with formidable precision. The simple kite loop is no longer a challenge with the Ayto: double, S, triple, all the latest tricks are on the menu. You always have a controlled loop, with a kite that never chokes, ultra-responsive and that renews energy.

Besides its qualities for sending huge tricks, the wow effect of the Ayto is having the handling/glide feeling of a 9m2 while being on a 12m2. It's shocking! It turns like no other. You really enjoy piloting and positioning it. And it’s no secret, having a good 12 speaks volumes on the quality of the rest of range. It’s simply top-notch.

It's so fast, precise, and maneuverable: a G-force machine for members of the 15-meter and up club ;-)

Definitely Airton's favorite kite for boosting big airs!

Double Profile

The Double Profile concept is a real revolution in the world of kiting.

By integrating a second skin on the intrados, we eliminate internal disturbances behind the leading edge which slow down the kite.

The air flows freely and the kite's glide is boosted.

A crucial element of this double skin is its adaptive role: it tenses or relaxes depending on the conditions. Unlike a rigid structure, it allows dynamic adjustment which optimizes the performance of the kite.

When the wind is light, the internal profile inflates to stabilize the kite.

In full power conditions, the double skin arches to improve aerodynamics and accelerate the kite impressively.

Your kite is stable, super fast and responsive while remaining easy to fly.

UPE Aramid

A major development of this Ayto Aramid DP lies in the revolutionary material of its inflatable structure.

GONG has first innovated with this material in wing foiling.

UPE Aramid is the lightest and stiffest material on the market on selected axes. Depending on the angulation of the Aramid mesh, we control the stretching axes and release the rotation axes. This means that we have the possibility of reducing the diameters, and therefore the drag and the weight, for the same behavior. Of course our research focused on an optimal and diffused reduction to preserve the twisting qualities, which are essential to the design of a maneuverable kite, while locking the C of the shape.

The sensations in the hands are simply astonishing. The kite is both one of the stiffest and one of the lightest, while remaining incredibly maneuverable: a whole new experience of flight and precision/feeling. It’s simply incredible and perfectly in line with our desire to offer the best.

At 85g/m2 (2 times less than Dacron!), this UPE Aramid present on the leading edge and the struts ensures an unparalleled gain in reactivity.

In addition to its exceptional mechanical properties, this material also has a very low absorption rate. The kite gains very little weight when wet.

And this material is also very resistant to tearing, an important point when launching on some sketchy spots.

Obviously, a superb material without perfect assembly is worthless, and we have worked in infinite detail to ensure the reliability of the technical solutions for its implementation. For this, we have tested all known assemblies on traction machines and innovated with new and exclusive assembly methods at GONG to surpass the standards. Our kites have never been so robust.

Better than gold !!!

5 Strut Design

The 5-strut design of the Ayto provides maximum rigidity and control in all situations, especially in strong winds, which is its preferred domain. The positioning of each strut has been carefully studied to not limit the maneuverability and twisting of the kite. The result is a 5-strut kite tailored for strong winds and loops.

Short bridles

The new reduced diameter bridles minimize drag while maintaining impeccable mechanical characteristics. The kite flies much smoother. Your Ayto adapts to your preferences thanks to adjustments on the rear and front bridles:

  • 3 attachment points for the rear bridles to adjust reactivity and bar pressure according to individual preference.
  • 3 settings on the front bridles:

               - Outward for more power, less bar pressure, slightly wider turning radius, and more stability for freestyle.

               - Inward for less power in the front lines/harness, faster turning, and more depower.

               - Central adjustment for perfect versatility.

The new short bridling system enhances feedback, resulting in a much more direct feeling. Combined with a pulley-free system, you get a direct, precise, and fast kite. The Ayto is a demanding kite reserved for expert pilots.

High ratio

The high ratio of the Ayto provides all the finesse needed to clean up your pops and boost your hangtime. The glide of the Ayto is the most incredible in our range.

This ratio also improves the high wind range and upwind performance.

Spend more time in the air and less time edging.

Easy Relaunch

The tight canopy and the inherent twist on the ears make flipping the Ayto easier, causing it to pivot onto one ear when pulling on one back line, or relaunching in reverse if both back lines are activated. The double profile generates no problem at all thanks to its openings along each strut. Even after a few rolls in the waves, it takes off again on its own.

Light and durable construction

The Ayto Aramid DP is built with the best materials available for high performance kiting.

Our decades-long experience in kite making, along with all the advancements made in wing technology, have enabled us to push the performance of our kites to unprecedented levels.

UPE Aramid combined with seams tested on the test bench and the water for years by our Team, offers the best in terms of lightness, rigidity and resistance for the inflatable structure.

The proven triple ripstop fabric offers perfect longevity and resistance with an ultra-lightweight of 55g/m2.

Strategically placed reinforcements ensure the durability of your equipment:

  • Insigna on the friction areas of the leading edge.

  • The tips are reinforced with Dacron DP175LL and Nylon 1680D on the last sections of the leading edge.

  • The trailing edge is in Dacron DP175LL to resist flapping over time.

Double Profile Design

The Double Profile design is an innovation that will be a landmark in the world of kiting!

Not because GONG invented it, as it just makes sense and already exists in windsurfing, boating, hang gliding, in the history of kiting, and in wing foiling thanks to us. But simply because GONG has made it possible on a large scale for everyone to enjoy, thanks to 10 years of work on this concept.

Our specific concept, recorded for several years, consists of erasing internal disturbances to the simple profile by the measured addition of a segmented internal profile, which allows air and water to circulate without restriction.

The internal skin simply erases the imperfections of the kite's glide. Acting in both pressure and depression, the internal skin will tighten or relax depending on the situation. It is this dosage of tension that is revolutionary. We are not trying to make this double skin rigid like a drum: we let it play its role of glide shock absorber.

So at the zenith in very little wind, it will inflate and lock the kite, preventing it from passing behind you. Do the test by walking towards it: it holds up in the air. It’s really reassuring.

Conversely, at full power, the double skin will arch to get closer to the extrado and accelerate the kite.

This almost biomimetic adaptability is unrivaled and gives this kite flying qualities that you have never had in your hands.

  • Improved stability

  • Much faster kite

  • Easy and reactive steering

LDS Tips

The wingtips play a major role in your kite's behavior. By combining a strong tension, perfectly distributed across the entire kite, and a precisely calculated internal tip twist, we have endowed the Ayto with exceptional responsiveness.

On this Team series model we have also introduced an innovation coming from wing foiling: the LDS system: Low Drag System. It allows the diameter of the tips to be further refined for better glide.

This carbon batten system in the tip also boosts responsiveness for an unrivaled level of performance. The rear line acts on the carbon batten, which means the entire tip is connected to your bar, without deformation, without latency.

Less drag, more loops.

Shape:

  • 5-struts design for enhanced profile rigidity, more stability in strong winds, and extreme Big Air conditions.
  • Hybrid C shape: with a significant C shape for maximum reactivity: modern, stable, predictable, and highly dynamic design. Projection coefficient: 62.2%: the most closed arc in the range.
  • High ratio (5.46) for maximum speed, favoring hangtime, resources, and big boosts in kite loops.
  • 100% performance profile: set back for maximum kite top speed and maximum stability in high wind conditions. Quite some draft (compared to its narrow chord, thus thin in absolute value) for incredible lift and excellent resource in loops.
  • Double Profile for more glide, more lift, perfect drift, incredible low range, more hold in high range, and perfect responsiveness.
  • Thin leading edge at the center for a fast and sleek kite in the air, while maintaining some section on the tips to maintain rigidity during strong maneuvers or in high winds. Nevertheless, it remains quite thin at the tips to allow strong twisting and extreme rotation speed. A refined profile that optimizes apparent wind, course, and control; but remains perfectly rigid without ever losing its shape.
  • Significant draft in proportion to the profile chord for low-speed power and good grip in radical actions. But this draft is small in absolute terms since the ratio is high, therefore with a low chord.
  • Streamlined big air outline for maximum glide and kite speed.
  • Curved struts that energize tensions, perfectly maintain the profile, and preserve the shape of the kite even during loops with very strong torsions.
  • Rounded tips with moderate surface area to optimize twisting actions in kite loops. The kite's inner tip deforms to turn even faster and onto its ear.
  • Significant internal tip twisting for maximum reactivity to bar actions and radical rotations. Individually, this twisting is almost zero because it is actually the result of the very strong tension applied to the entire kite. The result is a kite that twists very strongly when piloted.
  • Very strong fabric tension on each section for very responsive kite control (direct feeling: no latency).
  • Finely dosed bar feedback for precise and effortless control, especially with one hand. This avoids major mistakes because the kite is well felt but there is no need to "twist" the bar to make it react.
  • Medium depower because we want to have a power reserve in the harness that guarantees ultimate glide during tricks. In other words, the fronts sustain and the backs are only about directional control. The high aspect ratio allows these choices without risk because this kite quickly reaches the edge of the window and remains docile with a low chord.
  • Stable shape for a predictable kite and maximum safety in extreme conditions. The set-back tips distribute the mass slightly towards the back of the kite to avoid dives/stalls. We have in our hands a predictable and healthy kite for maximum safety.
  • Short front bridle to prevent tangling in the tips and make the kite more reactive; strapped on 6 points, without pulleys for an ultra-direct and uncompromising feeling.
  • 3 adjustments on the front bridle:

               - Outward of the kite for more power, less bar presence, a slightly larger turning radius, and more stability for freestyle.

               - Inward for a less powerful kite in the fronts/harness that turns faster and more depower.

               - The central adjustment for perfect versatility.

  • 3 attachment points for the rears to adjust reactivity and bar presence according to each person's feeling.

Team Series:

Ayto DPThe big air kite in an ultra high performance version.

Elips DPUnmatched performance in waves and perfect versatility from twin tip to kite foiling.

What Size?

With its high aspect ratio, the high wind range is truly where the Ayto shines. The lightness of the UPE Aramid allows the Ayto DP to gain stability in low range compared to the Ayto Perf Series.

Bar Size:

Keep in mind that the longer your bar, the easier it will be to turn your kite. Also, remember that the smaller the kite, the easier it will turn. So, the smaller the kite, the more you need a smaller bar to balance behaviors.

Conversely, the larger your kite and the more you use it in light wind, the slower it will be. A longer bar will have a greater leverage effect to compensate for this natural loss of reactivity.

Therefore, consider these parameters to choose the size of your bar and adapt the steering to the feeling you like and the conditions encountered.

If you want smooth and progressive steering, then you should “undersize” the bar. If you want more reactive but less forgiving steering, you should choose a longer bar.

For example, if I want smoother steering with my 9m2, then I will go for a 46cm bar.

If I want hyper-reactive steering, then I would go for the 52cm bar.

Oversizing the bar will have little interest and paradoxically will result in a feeling of heaviness in steering in the case of the 62cm. This one will be perfect, even essential in light wind. But in stronger winds, it will be slower to untwist and manipulate.

Between the 46 and the 52, there is no sensation of heaviness. These are two very close bars.

Note also that the 52 is perfectly usable on all our kites. No kite will not work or perform poorly for this reason. The 46, 57 and 62 are just optimizations for perfectionists.

It should also be noted that two bars generally age only half as fast as a single bar for the whole quiver ?

The key size is 52cm; it is the most versatile bar that you should choose if you want to have only one bar for a quiver 7-9-12 or 8-11 or even 8-10-13. If you want to add a second bar to your quiver, here are our recommendations with GONG kites:

The recommendations below are based on the behavior of GONG kites. Since our bars are compatible with a large number of kites, you can adjust your choice according to the type of kite used.

Line Length:

Your Feel-X bar comes standard with 80cm front lines, 19m of lines, and 3m extensions already mounted. The original setup is the most versatile and will be your best choice for 90% of your sessions.

One of the main advantages of the Feel-X bar is its great tolerance provided by its shape. By playing with its lengths, or even modifying them with our extensions (sold separately), you further enhance its versatility!

  • 22m Lines:
The "standard" length provides a more progressive and predictable bar feeling (recommended setting for progressing kiters). Your flight window will be larger, offering more power at takeoff. This is the setting to favor in light to medium wind conditions, and for everyday freeride use.
  • 19m Lines:
Shorter lines offer a more direct response from the kite, increasing its reactivity. The flight window will be shorter. This is the perfect setting for advanced kiters, especially for wave riding or foil for more agility. If you choose to ride with shorter lines, you will also gain comfort in high wind conditions.

Note that 22m and 19m are not extreme line lengths and remain a fine adjustment to your piloting sensation.

Equipments

Included equipment:

  • Your kite, ready to sail (excluding bar and pump).
  • A sturdy and efficient backpack: U-shaped zipper for easy storage, ventilation grid, padding, compression straps, bar pocket, pump straps...
  • The One Pump system for quick inflation and deflation of the battens (the clamps are not mounted on the kite; they are delivered in the repair kit included in your kite bag).
  • A pump leash loop on your kite to secure your kite during inflation.
  • Universal inflation valve with high flow rate.
  • Repair kit.
  • Micro-battens on the trailing edge.
  • Rear adjustment: 3 points.

All our kites are obviously compatible with our FEEL-X bar but also with 95% of the bars on the market. If in doubt, equip yourself with a complete set (x4) of pigtails: PIGTAILS.

Remember to equip yourself with a pump ;-)

Frequent questions
Is the Ayto a beginner-friendly kite?

No, the Ayto DP does not provide the very "raw" feedback needed by those in the progression phase with very direct bar feedback. Its relaunch is also not the simplest for those who are not experienced.

The Ayto DP is an ultra-reactive kite, intermediate kiters will find themselves overwhelmed by this liveliness.

Is the Ayto a kite for pros?

Without compromise, the Ayto DP kite has been developed for high-level riders. Its high aspect ratio and liveliness make it a exceptional kite that is not suitable for those still progressing.

Ayto DP or Perf Series?

The Ayto Perf Series is a high-performance kite. The use of dacron makes it more forgiving with less profile rigidity. Its handling is also more contained without the use of LDS at the tips. A kite to favor for sending hard in big air while maintaining some forgiveness.

The Ayto DP Team Series is quite simply the best to date in terms of ultra high performance! UPE Aramid provides increased lightness and incomparable glide thanks to a 15% thinner leading edge diameter. A kite to choose when you’re an expert level kiter who wants to challenge himself to the maximum!

Is the Ayto DP easy to relaunch?

The Ayto DP with its high ratio is not the easiest kite in the range and will require more experience from the kitesurfer. The addition of the double skin, however, does not imply any extra difficulty thanks to its numerous water evacuations along the struts.

What inflation pressure?

The recommended pressure is indicated in the table below:

You should consider certain elements:

  • An under-inflated kite will be unstable and difficult to control in gusty winds. Redeployment will also be more complicated with a kite that does not maintain its shape.

  • An over-inflated kite increases the risk of explosion during a crash and will fatigue the seams and materials of your kite more quickly.

  • If you leave your kite inflated in the sun for a long period, we recommend slightly deflating it to reduce the risk of seam fatigue.

Kite with or without pulleys?

The Ayto DP is a pro kite dedicated to big air and kite loops. Its pulley-less bridling, like the Elips DP, gives it a hyper-responsive and direct behavior.

We have opted for this type of bridling which is both the lightest and the most durable. It also reduces drag for a kite that's even more responsive. This short bridle facilitates relaunching by minimizing the risk of snagging.

Bar Compatibility?

The Ayto DP has been designed to work with a GONG bar. Our bar features 4 lines of equal lengths and a low V at the front lines.

The attachments for the lines at the bridle level are:

  • Kite-side loops for the front lines.

  • Kite-side knots for the back lines.

How to maintain my kite equipment?

To increase the longevity of your gear, both how you use it and its regular maintenance are crucial.

A key point during usage is not to leave your kite inflated for long periods without use! Flapping in the wind can cause premature wear of the materials, as can prolonged exposure to UV rays.

Frequent rinsing of your kite with running water is also not recommended. The chlorine in tap water can damage the surface treatments of your kite. However, you should favor storing your kite dry and remove any excess sand.

Always rinse your bar with fresh water to remove sand and salt. Also, remember to open the safety release to rinse the inside. Let it dry before reassembling.

In case of a torn strut or leading edge, use your repair kit, or check our spare parts section to order a replacement piece.

Systematically inspect the condition of your kite. Identify any holes or cuts and repair them before they worsen.

If you have damaged your kite due to improper use, you can have it repaired directly at the GONG workshop by contacting our sailmaker.

More information on how to maintain your kite can be found on the Forum.
