For optimal protection during travel, it's better to have a slightly oversized cover than one that’s too small. This allows room to add extra padding or accessories at the ends to provide additional shock protection. For example, you can wrap a poncho or towel around the blade and handle—parts that are especially prone to damage.
However, a cover that’s too large may fail to protect your paddle properly. The paddle shouldn't move around inside; it should stay securely in place where the reinforcements are located
