Wing foil Board Inflatable HIPE Lethal

PROGRAM
100% wave riding inflatable wing foil board.
PRESENTATION
The HIPE Lethal is our inflatable board totally dedicated to wave riding!
This is THE maneuverable and responsive performance board for surfing in an inflatable technology. Narrow to glide very early without having to be overpowered or to be used in sinker mode, it flies in three pumping strokes.
This general finesse, also at the nose and tail of the board, keeps it away from the water in radical carves. Fewer touchdowns and less consequence when landing an air for example where it pops back up again without braking.
Tightening turns, hitting the lip, going for airs has never been as intuitive and easy as with the Lethal. On the Lethal you close each carve, attack the whitewater, jump, land clean and manage the repop. Very similar to a rigid board, it enhances fluid and engaged surfing and allows the craziest moves and tricks.
Like all HIPEs in the GONG range, it is the ultimate combination of the performance of rigid boards with the advantages of inflatable ones. Our innovative system of hybrid dropstitch boards with an ultra-rigid carbon plate is an absolute revolution in the world of inflatable foil boards.
This board will be almost transparent under your feet because it makes one with your intentions.

In a nutshell
The HIPE Lethal is the narrowest board in our new HIPE Pro range.
With a sharp outline, it gains in glide for the takeoff: it’s stunning! It’s less wide than its inflatable counterparts in the range which means more speed on the water, fewer touchdowns, less braking in case of contact with water and more control in extreme angles.
A round tail for even more glide, minimal bulk in turns and explosive repop.
Its rounded surf point nose and its contained length make it very incisive in changes of direction such as top turns for example. And in jumps its reduced dimensions allow you to send all the tricks.
Rocker
The rocker is very tight, almost flat on the rear third to maximize glide for a windsurf-type planing start. It allows optimal gliding on the water before flight. Touchdowns while surfing are no longer a problem. It has even become an integrated phase of surfing, either when landing big airs for pros, or when learning intimidating moves like a re-entry into the whitewater for example: you can place the hull of the board on the water at the critical moment and secure your way down the wave. This new Lethal does it to perfection.
Rigid rail
To improve takeoff, our designers developed a rigid rail at the tail of the board. This allows for a clean release of water streams at the end of the hull, resulting in better glide before flying and boosting acceleration. You pump less and fly earlier.

Buying guide
For whom?
This is clearly the inflatable board for those who want to maximize the potential of wing foiling in surfing.
You need a good level and sufficient physical condition to benefit from the HIPE Lethal.
For what?
The HIPE Lethal is a pure wave riding board, with the advantages of inflatable technology.
It's our narrowest HIPE in the range so it's great for surfing and perfect for jumping but it also has fantastic high speed control.
What size?
The HIPE Lethal is the perfect board for wave riding. Intended for experienced users, you can adapt it to your needs by choosing the right volume for you:
Comfort
You should take a volume that’s sufficient to float without difficulty, about your weight + 20 or more = volume of the board.
Example: I weigh 75kg + 20 = 95L to float easily. Which means that with 95L and above I will be very comfortable, provided I have a good level in wing foiling.
Sport
You can also go for a lower volume to gain responsiveness. You need a very good level and should want maximum responsiveness to go to negative volumes (in other words: weight > volume).
Up to your weight – 15 = volume you can still start on your knees by leaning on the wing that sits on the water.
Example 1: I weigh 75kg = 75L to keep it simple with a close to negative volume. Which means that with 70L my board will sink slightly when at a standstill and I should be precise and sporty each time I start.
In competition, our Team uses between 10L and 15L less than their weight on their rigid boards. To date, this is the compromise that offers them the most performance because it boosts responsiveness and secures receptions. This rule also applies to inflatables.
Example 2: I weigh 75kg and I take 65L to sub-liter without switching to the pure sinker. Which means that with 65L my board will partially sink when at a standstill and I will have to be very precise and sporty each time I start.
Best quiver choices?
The HIPE Lethal is THE inflatable wing board par excellence for wave riding. It will take a big place in your waverider quiver. For lighter sessions, the HIPE Diamond or the Cruzader will be a good complement, while maintaining the same level of performance.
You can of course complete it with a range of stand up paddleboards without foil. And surfboards for days when the waves are unsuitable for foiling.
Understanding the GONG range?
The concept of each board of the range can be summed up very simply:
- HIPE LEARN: the inflatable wing board for learning.
- HIPE FIRST: the perfect inflatable wing board for beginners and progression.
- HIPE PERF: the inflatable board with 95% of the performance of rigid baords in an easy and scalable shape.
- HIPE FREE FLY: the best strapless inflatable foil board.
- HIPE STUNT: the inflatable board for surfing/freestyle scoring.
- HIPE LETHAL: the must-have inflatable board for wave riding.
- HIPE DIAMOND: mid-length with the glide of a downwinder and the handling of a compact board.
- HIPE CRUZADER: the inflatable “downwinder” for the highest performance in light wind winging and obviously in DW.
- MOB 2TASTE: three sports in one board: SUP, SUP foiling and wing foiling.
- ZUMA: the easy rigid board for SUP foiling and wing foiling, and with good performance.
- LANCE: the compact Zuma, with great lateral stability, ideal for beginnings in wing foiling.
- CRUZADER POINT: fantastic in SUP downwinders, pumping on the flat, but also in light wind conditions for wing foiling, freefly, surfing, etc…
- CRUZADER DIAMOND: compact and easy to paddle shape for downwind SUPing. In wing foiling it’s ideal for light wind conditions, surfing and downwinders.
- FLINT: high performance in SUP foiling, really cool for wing foiling because it is simple, stable and efficient. All in one.
- MINT: absolute efficiency and ease thanks to its glide. A first-class wing board for take offs in a versatile shape geared towards surfing and freeride.
- LEMON: top-notch responsiveness and liveliness in surfing, high performance in freestyle, great stability and lots of glide.
- STUNT: 100% surf-freestyle. Great maneuverability. Instant take offs and re-pops.
- LETHAL: Absolute surfing radicality for a magical ride in all types of waves.
Which foil wings?
For the experienced:
In the X-Over or Curve range: super easy and effective wings at low speed:
- M for 50kg -> 65kg and all wind forces.
- L for 65kg -> 75kg and all wind forces.
- XL for 75kg -> 100kg and all wind forces.
- XXL for 100kg -> 120kg and wind less than 15 knots.
For Pros:
In the Fluid, Ypra Surf or Veloce range: high-performance wings
- M for 50kg -> 75kg and wind above the 15 knots.
- L for 65kg -> 85kg and wind above ther 15 knots.
- XL for 75kg -> 100kg and all wind forces, or for lightweights in light wind.
- XXL for 100kg -> 120kg and wind less than 15 knots.
The size of the front wing determines the speed/lift ratio. The smaller the wing, the faster you will go but will be uncomfortable at low speeds.
The stabs have a major role. They determine the stability of the foil and help with its lift, but at the expense of the maximum speed of the foil.
So thick stabs are slower than thin stabs, but are much more supportive, and therefore effective at low speed. A larger stab span avoids loss of control but reduces maneuverability.
Which foil mast?
During your first sessions, you can reassure yourself with a short mast (65cm). Falls on the first flights will be less impressive. But apart from when launching, you will have everything to gain with a mast of 85 cm or more.
More length = more margin = easier = more efficient.
In chop, in transitions, in lulls, a large mast will be ten times more pleasant. It will prevent you from touching and give you the necessary height margin in all your actions.
In pure racing, of course the must is the HM mast in 107 cm. Absolutely magical. But the 95 cm aluminum or 92 cm HM are great too.
In Freerace, a long mast is also a must. It's not more difficult and it will make fast reaches easier.
In Freeride, we often seek simplicity and versatility. The 85 cm mast is essential. 92 cm for those who want margin.
In Freestyle, we recommend 85 cm to keep rail to rail dynamic and controllable.
In Surfing, we favor radicality and control, therefore the 85 cm. But in solid waves, the 92 cm will give more room to apply huge leaning angles without dramatically ventilating at the bottom turn for example.
Finally, note that a shim of 1.5° under an 85 cm mast will give you the nose up margin of a 92 cm. This is the ultimate trick.
In summary, for waves and freestyle, but also for starting out and progressing, an 85 mast (V2 or HM depending on your budget) is ideal. Simple to put in the water, easy to move from one rail to another, it’s perfect.
A mast of 92 cm or more will be dedicated to the race by offering more margin at high speed in choppy conditions but less maneuverability. All our masts: here.
Positioning of the foil?
For GONG foils, place the top plate in the center of the US rails to start and move it forward a few centimeters when you get into transitions (a sign of good progress).
The more you move it forward, the more the board will pitch nose-up. The more you move it backwards, the more the board nose-dives.
Be careful not to move it too far forward. We often tend not to let their back foot work, especially when we come from kite foiling. However, moving the foil back a little, forces more weight on the back foot and gives a more harmonious attitude and reduces effort.
Which leash?
Take a 6’ with a minimum diameter of 7mm.
Check its condition before each session and change it every year. This is your life jacket.
Strapped or strapless? 2 or 3 straps?
When it comes to wing foiling:
Going strapless feels sexy because you feel free. But honestly, performance-wise, it's not the best option…
So, it's up to you whether the sensation outweighs the performance. On a HIPE Diamond, you'll clearly miss out on a significant part of its potential without straps.
With front straps, you'll have much more control and far less risk of the foil flipping under your feet. When you're starting out, front straps are an essential reference point for placing your feet correctly. They save you a lot of time.
In waves, it's obvious that you gain a lot with straps, including the rear strap. You can recover from crazy situations just by pulling on your feet. And what about tricks: the range is multiplied with straps. All jumps are possible, and the cushioning of the inflatable is magical for the knees ;-)
Take your first steps with just the front straps. You can install the rear strap as it will provide a good reference for placing your foot just in front and a good handle. But don't use it at the beginning. Once you're comfortable in flight, consider moving the foil back by 2cm to get used to the rear strap.
Good to know:
Never leave your board in the sun, especially an inflatable board, and even less a black carbon plate which will heat up very quickly. You risk seeing it come unstuck!!!
Do not screw further than the bottom of the box, otherwise you will pass through the skin of the inflatable. We deliver non-opening US nuts, but be careful.
Never let your foil board take a beating in the waves, especially close to the beach. You must protect it from major efforts. A wave that carries your board and rolls it can do serious damage.
Equipments
SCS SYSTEM
The composite plate is equipped with Smart Connection System (SCS) double entry boxes to easily install and adjust the foil. The double holes correspond to the stance of the holes in your GONG foil plate. Simply present the foil with the brass nuts already mounted on the plate, slide them into the rails without disassembling, tighten the 4 screws, and you're ready to go.
To facilitate foil assembly, our new US fixing brass nuts are connected by a carbon fiber rod and are included with the board. This saves time for foil assembly, and the adjustment is precise. No more risk of losing your brass nuts: you leave them screwed on the plate and slide them into the US rails using the 4 new insertion holes. There's nothing to disassemble: just tighten the screws and go!
Foil adjustment is also easier and more precise with the adjustment information engraved on the plate.
CARRYING HANDLE
The handle in the carbon plate, placed on the hull, is a real comfort enhancement for launching and carrying over short distances. And it has no impact on the rigidity and strength of our plate, which are flawless.

FOOTSTRAPS
The set of 3 footstraps is included with the board.
Developed for wingfoiling, these moderate coverage straps do not fold during wear. With less surface area on the instep, there is less risk of getting stuck or hitting the foot on the edge of the strap when putting it on quickly. This also allows for better leeward support (with the tip of your foot) and therefore a more natural stance in wing foiling.
Sufficiently rigid, they provide precise control while remaining very comfortable.
The V-shaped front footstrap perfectly centers the foot on the front of the board. This positioning is more natural and allows for direct and precise control during maneuvers.
Every detail has been carefully crafted to enhance your on-water experience.
FULL DECK PAD
The premium 5mm thick full deck pad provides maximum grip and comfort while navigating. This Velvet Traction grooving pad offers a velvety touch underfoot and magical grip. Exceptionally stylish and high-quality, it enhances your board.
This relief-free pad truly provides absolute comfort. It's noticeable during long sessions: your feet are less tired.
ROLLER TRANSPORT BAG
The HIPE Lethal comes with a super practical and sturdy roller transport bag.
The bag is spacious enough to carry your HIPE Lethal, foil, and wing.
It is designed for comfortable travel without exceeding baggage limits on most airlines!
The backpack straps are heavily padded and comfortable. The handles are super strong and comfortable to hold. The front pocket is generously sized to store your accessories and personal items without the risk of losing them. And the compression straps minimize the volume of the bag. Integrated compartments on the back of the front panel allow you to securely and neatly store your foil elements and hardware.
Nothing is missing!
PUMP, HARDWARE, AND REPAIR KIT
The provided dual-action rapid inflation pump is super efficient to get you on the water quickly.
All the hardware for the straps and foil is included with the board.
A repair kit is also included in case of damage (please note that the kit does not include glue, which you can easily find at your hardware store, typically PVC glue). Note that we stock all the components of your board for easy repair to its new state. Everything can be repaired on an inflatable.
