Wing foil Board Inflatable HIPE First
Program
The perfect inflatable foil board to start wing foiling!
Presentation
The HIPE First is the inflatable board designed to learn Wing foiling easily and safely, then keep progressing without needing to change boards right away.
First, it builds confidence. Its generous volume and wide outline deliver very high stability, which is exactly what matters at the beginning: stepping on, getting positioned, controlling the wing, and riding your first reaches without constantly fighting balance. It lets you understand the wind and the wing on the water before you even think about flying. For complete newcomers to boardsports and/or wind sports, this is what reduces mental load and speeds up learning.
Then, it’s comfortable and very user-friendly. With its 5’’ thickness, getting on the board is straightforward, and when kneeling you immediately feel properly supported. The soft, grippy, more generous deck pad maximizes comfort during the learning phase (when you spend a lot of time repositioning). And because the deck is designed for strapless riding, the stance area is wide and clean: nothing in the way, no pressure points, no awkward spots when you’re starting out.
The inflatable construction also brings a very real benefit: you feel safe. Less worry about impacts, both for you and for the gear. And day to day, an inflatable is simply easier to handle (carrying, launching, storage), which means you ride more often… and progress faster.
Once the basics are in place, the HIPE First keeps delivering. Its optimized length helps you build speed and lift off smoothly, without unpredictable reactions. Its comfortable length/width ratio makes learning pumping (working the wing to accelerate) more accessible, because you can put power in without getting thrown off balance by every small mistake. Very quickly, you’ll reach those first proper flights and long reaches: strapless freeride and first steps into freefly, with a board that stays calm and forgiving.
For sizing, the HIPE First 2026 adds a new 7’1, giving all ages and all body types the smooth, comfortable start they deserve. Now available in 5 sizes, from 5’0 (95L) to 7’1 (175L), there’s always a HIPE First that matches your level, your weight, and your goals.
Finally, it’s a truly practical board: light board, easy to travel with, packs into a bag, inflates quickly, and stays ready to go (car, holidays, apartment) so every opportunity turns into a session.
And for riders already comfortable on a SUP and on foil, the HIPE First can also be used for occasional SUPfoil sessions.
Outline
The shape of the HIPE First is designed to make learning easier. Great in flight, it is also designed to navigate easily on the water before you master takeoff.
The wide but not excessive tail provides a lot of stability to accept the placement errors of a beginner. It avoids rolling and tumbling in choppy water.
The maximum width is centered and generous enough to make balancing on your knees as simple as possible, but also to help maneuverability on reaches and during the first maneuvers riding flat on the water.
The nose remains thin enough not to stick to the water. The board is really pretty, and it works both on the water and in flight.
Rocker
Its rocker is moderate at the nose then flat on the rest of the hull up to the tail to boost the take-off phase.
You take off easily, at least as quickly as with a rigid board. It's truly astonishing.
Deck
The deck of the HIPE First is flat and wide.
Covering the entire useful surface, the pad provides comfort and stability, whether on your knees or standing. With no straps, you’re free to move, making for a naturally fluid ride.
Tail
The squash tail provides significant stability when stopped and absorbs foot placement errors. It also prevents the boat from tipping over in choppy water.
Ideal for kneeling and standing phases before the first flights of beginners.
Rails
The rails are round, like on all inflatable boards. But we used this natural shape to help the water slide over the board. Water does not stick to the rails.
Nose
The round point nose of the HIPE First combines the volume favorable to balance with the length necessary to glide naturally towards takeoff.

Buying guide
For whom?
If you are looking for a board to start wing and SUP foiling, the HIPE First is made for you.
- In wing foiling, the HIPE First is the perfect board for beginners. The larger sizes are ideal for starting out: zero stress.
- In SUP foiling, the most important thing is to be able to paddle straight on a regular SUP. The rest is simply a matter of technique and time spent in the water to improve. The absence of strap inserts makes foot placement easier in SUP foiling.
Each size is easy, you just need to choose THE right size to match your level, physical condition and practice.
For what ?
The HIPE First is the perfect board for starting and progressing in wing and SUP foil, strapless.
On land, it inflates and folds up in minutes and is shockproof, making it perfect for travel. And it's incredibly lightweight.
In wing mode, it's very easy, you'll progress very quickly.
SUP foiling is great for starting out and progressing when you are already a good paddler.
Which HIPE should I start with?
If you want to get started easily without using the foil, then HIPE Learn is for you.
If you want to start out and only sail strapless, then the HIPE First is for you.
On an inland body of water with a bit of balance, it's the HIPE Like.
If you want to start out and have the most progressive board possible, it's the HIPE Perf.
The following news will give you all the keys to understanding between HIPE to get started.
For those in a hurry, here's a summary:
What size?
The HIPE First is a board designed for learning. Several sizes are available to meet the needs of each user according to their level, physical condition, and intended use.
In wing foiling:
Beginner
You can take a volume sufficient to float easily, on the order of your weight + 60 = volume.
- Example: I weigh 80kg + 60 = 140L to float. Which means that with 140L or more I'll be fine.
Comfort
You can take on a sufficient volume to float, on the order of your weight + 30 = volume.
- Example: I weigh 80kg + 30 = 110L to float. This means that with 110L or more I'll be fine, provided I have a good level of wing foiling skill.
A small table that summarizes all of this:
In SUP foiling , you absolutely must have a positive volume balance. Your weight plus the board's weight must be less than the board's volume. Don't hesitate to choose a board with a bit more volume and width if you're unsure of your balance. And be careful of the "row" effect, which will cause you to spin out of control if you're not a skilled SUP paddler.
To start, you can take a volume sufficient to float, on the order of your weight + 50 = volume.
- Example: I weigh 80kg + 50 = 120L to float. This means that with a 5'11" board of 135L I will be comfortable to start with.

Which quiver buddies?
The HIPE First will be perfect for enjoying the wind in wing foiling or small waves in SUP foiling.
You can, of course, complement it with a range of stand-up paddleboards without foils. And surfboards for days when the waves aren't suitable for foiling.
Once you've mastered the technique for jumping, a strapped-up board will open up new freeride possibilities and allow you to try some freestyle moves in the bumps. Whether you're going for an inflatable or rigid board , this article will give you the keys to understanding the differences and guiding your progression towards your preferred style.
Which shape should I choose?
The concepts behind each inflatable board in our range can be summarized very simply:
- HIPE FIRST: the perfect inflatable foil board for beginners and progression, strapless.
- HIPE LIKE: the alternative to the HIPE First designed to take off early and remain easy.
- HIPE LEARN: the inflatable for learning: flat on the water, first flights and SUP foil compatible.
- HIPE PERF: the inflatable with 95% of the performance of the rigid in an easy and progressive shape.
- HIPE CRUZADER: the inflatable “downwinder” for the highest performance in Wing in lightwind and obviously in DW.
- HIPE DIAMOND: the mid-length board with the glide of a downwinder and the agility of a compact board.
- HIPE FREEFLY: the ultimate in strapless inflatable foil boarding.
- HIPE PRO: the inflatable board for scoring in surfing / freestyle.
Which foil wings?
In the V3 Perf Series range, beginners will progress the fastest with an XL front wing (regardless of their weight between 50kg and 90kg) and a stabilizer of approximately 45cm. Above 90kg, an XXL front wing is a plus for getting airborne early.
More information is available in the article on the V3 foil range .
In Wing:
If you are shy, start in X-Over.
If you have prior experience with snow sports, the Ascent is the preferred choice.
If you have talent, start with Curve H.
For beginners:
In the X-Over range: extremely easy and efficient wings at low speeds for easy beginners:
- M for 50kg -> 65kg and all wind forces.
- L for 65kg -> 75kg and all wind forces.
- XL for 75kg -> 85kg and all wind strengths.
- XXL for 85kg and over or for winds less than 15 knots.
The Ascent range will be more demanding for beginners. In return, it will support you further in your progression. Here's how to select your size:
- S below 65kg and all wind forces.
- M for 65kg -> 75kg and all wind forces.
- L for 75kg -> 85kg and all wind forces.
- XL for 85kg -> 95kg and all wind strengths.
- XXL for 95kg and over or for winds less than 15 knots.
The size of the front wing determines the speed/lift ratio. The smaller the wing, the faster you will go, but you will be uncomfortable at low speeds.
The stabilizers play a major role. They determine the stability of the foil and help with its lift, but at the expense of the foil's maximum speed.
Thus, thick stabilizers are slower than thin stabilizers, but provide much more lift, and are therefore effective at low speeds and in calm conditions. A larger stabilizer span prevents loss of control but reduces maneuverability.
In SUP foil:
If you have very small waves or a large build, start with an X-Over wing.
The Ascent remains a good compromise when you have the basics.
If you are skilled, go for a Curve H wing, which is faster.
For beginners:
In the X-Over range: extremely easy and efficient wings at low speeds for easy beginners:
- L below 65kg or powerful waves.
- XL for 65kg -> 75kg or for soft waves.
- XXL for 75kg and over or very soft waves.
The Ascent range will be more demanding for beginners. In return, it will support you further in your progression. Here's how to select your size:
- M below 65kg or powerful waves.
- Size L for 65kg -> 75kg, fits everywhere.
- XL for 75kg -> 85kg or for soft waves.
- XXL for 85kg or very soft waves.
Which foil mast?
In Wing:
During your first few sessions, you can feel more confident with a short mast (62cm). Falls on your first flights will be less dramatic. But aside from launching, you'll have everything to gain with a long mast (100cm and above).
More length = more margin = easier = more efficient.
Unlike kitefoiling, wing foiling doesn't involve much resistance from the wing because it pulls less. Therefore, the mast angle is lower, making it easier to control a tall mast in wing foiling. And since the boards used are much larger than in kite foiling, the inertia is greater. As a result, your foil is less erratic. Everything is calmer. So don't be afraid of a long mast.
In choppy conditions, during transitions, and in lulls, a tall mast will be ten times more enjoyable. It will prevent you from hitting the ground and give you the necessary clearance for all your maneuvers.
In SUP foil:
The 65cm aluminum mast is perfect. If you're a pro, upgrade to a 70cm carbon mast – a truly masterful feel.
Foil positioning?
For GONG foils, place the plate in the center of the US rails to start and move it forward a few centimeters when you start transitions (sign of good progress).
The further forward you move it, the more the board rises. The further back you move it, the more the nose of the board dips.
Be careful not to move it too far forward. There's often a tendency to not let the back foot do the work, especially when coming from kitefoiling. However, moving the foil back a little forces you to put more weight on your back foot, resulting in a more balanced stance and reduced effort.
What paddle length?
If you want to use the HIPE First in SUP foil, you will need a paddle between your height - 10cm and your height.
What accessories?
Safety is of paramount importance for the practice of board sports, and even more so when it comes to foil sports.
A wing leash is essential . Once released, if the wing is not held by its leash, it will immediately fly away several dozen meters from you, and it will only stop its course once it is blocked by an obstacle which will damage it in most cases.
A board leash is also very important, especially when learning. It keeps your board close to you. You keep a safety float within easy reach and, most importantly, prevent it from injuring others. Choose a 6-foot leash with a minimum diameter of 7mm. Check its condition before each session and replace it annually. It's your life jacket.
To practice in the best conditions, it is absolutely necessary to wear a protective helmet and an impact vest .
We have also developed a range of Bodyguard textiles , which provide additional protection against the risk of cuts associated with foiling. The risk is always present, but it is even greater during the learning phase.
We strongly recommend that you protect yourself as much as possible.
Good to know:
Never leave your board in the sun, especially an inflatable board, and even less so a black carbon fiber board, which will heat up very quickly. You risk it peeling off!
Don't screw in beyond the bottom of the box, or you'll end up inside the inflatable. We supply non-through US squares, but be careful.
Never let your foil board get tossed around in the waves, especially near the shore. You must protect it from major impacts. A wave that sweeps your board away and rolls it can cause serious damage.
Equipments
SCS System
The composite plate is equipped with dual SCS ( Smart Connection System ) entry boxes for easy foil installation and adjustment. The double holes correspond to the stance of the holes on your GONG foil's mounting plate. The foil is presented with the squares already mounted on the plate, which slide into the rails without disassembly. Slide the foil in, tighten the four screws, and you're ready to ride.
To simplify foil assembly, our US mounting squares are connected by a carbon fiber rod and included with the board. This saves time during setup and ensures precise adjustments. No more risk of losing the squares: simply leave them screwed onto the plate and slide them into the US rails through the four insertion holes. No need to disassemble anything: just tighten the screws and you're good to go!
Adjusting the foil is also easier and more precise with the adjustment information written on the plate.
Carrying handle
The handle integrated into the carbon plate on the hull significantly improves comfort when launching and carrying the boat over short distances. Furthermore, it has no impact on the rigidity and strength of our plate, which remain flawless.
Full deck pad
The premium 5mm thick full pad provides maximum grip and comfort while riding. This Double Diamond groove pad offers excellent traction and reassuring cushioning.
Very different from the dropstitch coating of the board, you immediately feel if your foot is properly placed on the pad.
Compartmented carrying bag
The HIPE First comes in a super practical and robust carrying bag.
It is designed for comfortable travel and without excess baggage fees on most airlines!
The backpack straps are very well padded and comfortable. The handles are super sturdy and pleasant to grip. The generously sized front pocket allows you to store your accessories and personal belongings without the risk of losing them. And the compression straps reduce the bag's volume to a minimum. Integrated compartments in the back of the front panel allow you to securely and neatly store your foil components and hardware.
Nothing is missing!
Pump, screws and repair kit
The included dual-action rapid inflation pump is super efficient for being the first in the water.
All the screws for the foil top plate are supplied with the board.
A repair kit is also included in case of damage (please note that the kit does not include glue, which you can easily find at your local hardware store (PVC glue)). We also stock the components for your board so we can easily repair it. Everything on an inflatable board can be repaired.
Included equipment:
- ICS carbon plate.
- Double Diamond 5mm integral deck pad: non-slip and durable deck covering.
- 2 non-through SCS inserts paired by a carbon fiber rod.
- Screws for foil plate: TF M6 T30 screws x4 in 20mm and 25mm with 4 cup washers.
- Leash plug at the tail so you never lose your board.
- High-pressure inflation valve on the nose for easy deflation and rolling of the board.
- Dual action rapid inflation pump with multiple nozzles (compatible with a wing).
- Compartmented carrying bag.
- Repair kit (glue not included).
