Wing foil Board Inflatable HIPE Freefly

PROGRAM
An inflatable foil board for the best of strapless.
PRESENTATION
The HIPE Free Fly is the fantastic inflatable wing foil board for strapless riding.
We developed it to specifically meet the needs of riders who prefer to ride without straps. Without footstrap inserts, we save weight and costs and we leave our feet completely free on the board without obstacles or areas of discomfort.
We focus on the essentials to let you enjoy the pure sensations of glide and freedom while surfing. The compact shape centers the volume between your feet for maximum responsiveness. You go from one rail to another without forcing, it's super responsive and super beautiful.
The connection between the foil and the rider is perfect thanks to the carbon plate. You feel all that’s happening underwater. This translates to beautiful carves in Free Fly, with total confidence!
In freeride you place your feet as you wish, you are perfectly comfortable for relaxed upwind reaches.
It fits in a bag, inflates in two minutes and rocks like a carbon board! What else? Light, compact, efficient, easy to transport, it is the ideal board for a rider who already knows how to wing foil and wants to travel.

Outline
The shape of the HIPE Free Fly is designed to engage in carves, pump efficiently, and cruise in freeride.
This new version follows the trend of the other shapes in the range: it gains length and becomes thinner. The gain in glide is obvious and it takes off much earlier. But the shape remains compact with crazy liveliness. Carving is intuitive, the board moves from one rail to another without forcing.
The wide nose allows for preflight comfort. It allows for forward weight distribution without pearling. You can clearly feel it when pumping.
The large diamond tail provides lift and fluidity. We have excellent stability to get started.
The best for riding a low volume board without struggling, for example. It allows for sick carves without ever suffering from a touchdown in the angle of the tail.
The outline of the ICS plate follows the shape of the HIPE Free Fly, it’s beautiful and effective. The tail is really fluid. It is both elegant and effective so as not to draw water before takeoff. We really fly earlier and with less effort.
Rocker
Its rocker is moderate at the nose while still gliding on the water before takeoff. The tail is flat to maximize acceleration before takeoff.
Rails
The rails are round, like on all inflatable boards. We used this natural shape to help the water slide along the board.
The thickness provides a lot of preflight comfort and ease of take-off.
To improve takeoff, our designers developed a rigid rail at the tail of the board. This allows for a clean release of water streams at the end of the hull, resulting in better glide before flying and boosting acceleration. You pump less and fly earlier.

Buying guide
For whom?
You are looking for a hassle-free board dedicated to strapless riding, the HIPE Free Fly meets these specifications perfectly.
You must have a sufficient level:
Either you have a windsurfing background, it helps a lot to handle the wing.
Either you know how to fly a foil.
Either you already have a significant number of flight hours on a wing foil.
Either you are athletic.
It is necessary to know how to ride a first learning board before choosing the HIPE Free Fly.
What for?
The HIPE Free Fly is the ultimate board to progress without complicating your life, it covers all programs, light wind, freeride, and wave riding. Brilliant in freeride, easy in surfing. Strapless style only.
On land, it inflates and is stored away within a few minutes and there is no risk of shocks. This is the perfect board for traveling!
In wing foiling, it is great for boosting your level. It’s the top level for performance in transitions, speed, heading, carves and surfing.
Which size?
The HIPE Free Fly is a high performance wing board. But by choosing the right volume, you can adapt it to your needs:
Comfort
Have enough volume to float, around your weight + 15 = volume.
- Example: I weigh 80kg + 15 = 95L to float. Which means that with 100L and more you will be at ease, provided you have a good level in wing foiling.
Sport
You can also subliter it because the HIPE Free Fly is wide enough to be stable. So if you have a great level and want maximum responsiveness, you can switch to negative volumes.
Until your weight = volume you can go on your knees by leaning on the wing on the water.
- Example: I weigh 85kg = 85L to slightly subliter. Which means that with 85L my board will sink slightly when at a standstill and you should be precise and sporty at each start.
A small table that sums it all up :
Best quiver choices?
The HIPE Free Fly is truly the strapless inflatable performance foil board. So it will take up a large part of your sessions and a very small part of your quiver.
You can, of course, complement it with a range of stand-up paddleboards without foils. And surfboards for days when the waves are not suitable for foiling.
Understanding the GONG range?
The concept of each board of the range can be summed up very simply:
- HIPE LEARN: the inflatable wing board for learning.
- HIPE FIRST: the perfect inflatable wing board for beginners and progression.
- HIPE PERF: the inflatable board with 95% of the performance of rigid baords in an easy and scalable shape.
- HIPE FREE FLY: the best strapless inflatable foil board.
- HIPE STUNT: the inflatable board for surfing/freestyle scoring.
- HIPE LETHAL: the must-have inflatable board for wave riding.
- HIPE DIAMOND: mid-length with the glide of a downwinder and the handling of a compact board.
- HIPE CRUZADER: the inflatable “downwinder” for the highest performance in light wind winging and obviously in DW.
- MOB 2TASTE: three sports in one board: SUP, SUP foiling and wing foiling.
- ZUMA: the easy rigid board for SUP foiling and wing foiling, and with good performance.
- LANCE: the compact Zuma, with great lateral stability, ideal for beginnings in wing foiling.
- CRUZADER POINT: fantastic in SUP downwinders, pumping on the flat, but also in light wind conditions for wing foiling, freefly, surfing, etc…
- CRUZADER DIAMOND: compact and easy to paddle shape for downwind SUPing. In wing foiling it’s ideal for light wind conditions, surfing and downwinders.
- FLINT: high performance in SUP foiling, really cool for wing foiling because it is simple, stable and efficient. All in one.
- MINT: absolute efficiency and ease thanks to its glide. A first-class wing board for take offs in a versatile shape geared towards surfing and freeride.
- LEMON: top-notch responsiveness and liveliness in surfing, high performance in freestyle, great stability and lots of glide.
- STUNT: 100% surf-freestyle. Great maneuverability. Instant take offs and re-pops.
- LETHAL: Absolute surfing radicality for a magical ride in all types of waves.
Which foil wings?
For the experienced:
In the X-Over or Curve range: super easy and effective wings at low speed:
- M for 50kg -> 65kg and all wind forces.
- L for 65kg -> 75kg and all wind forces.
- XL for 75kg -> 100kg and all wind forces.
- XXL for 100kg -> 120kg and wind less than 15 knots.
For Pros:
In the Fluid or Veloce range: high-performance wings
- M for 50kg -> 75kg and wind above the 15 knots.
- L for 65kg -> 85kg and wind above ther 15 knots.
- XL for 75kg -> 100kg and all wind forces, or for lightweights in light wind.
- XXL for 100kg -> 120kg and wind less than 15 knots.
The size of the front wing determines the speed/lift ratio. The smaller the wing, the faster you will go but will be uncomfortable at low speeds.
The stabs have a major role. They determine the stability of the foil and help with its lift, but at the expense of the maximum speed of the foil.
So thick stabs are slower than thin stabs, but are much more supportive, and therefore effective at low speed. A larger stab span avoids loss of control but reduces maneuverability.
Which foil mast?
During your first sessions, you can feel more secure with a short mast (65cm). The falls during your initial flights will be less daunting. But apart from when getting into the water, you'll gain everything with a mast of 85 cm or more.
More length = more margin = easier = more performance.
In choppy conditions, during transitions, in light winds, a tall mast will be ten times more enjoyable. It will prevent you from touching down and give you the necessary height margin in all your actions.
In pure and tough racing, of course, the ultimate is the 107 cm HM mast. Absolutely magical. But the 95 cm aluminum or 92 cm HM masts are also great.
In Freerace, a long mast is also a must. It's not more difficult and it will facilitate fast reaches.
In Freeride, simplicity and versatility are often sought after. The 85 cm mast is a must. 92 cm for those who want more margin.
In Freestyle, we recommend 85 cm to maintain a dynamic and controllable rail-to-rail feel.
In Surf, radicalness and control are preferred, hence the 85 cm mast. But in solid waves, the 92 cm mast will provide more margin to apply huge angles without dramatically ventilating at the bottom, for example.
Finally, note that a 1.5° rake shim under an 85 cm mast will give you the nose-up margin of a 92 cm mast. It's the ultimate trick.
In summary, for waves and freestyle, but also for starting out and progressing, an 85 mast (V2 or HM depending on your budget) is ideal. Simple to put in the water, easy to move from one rail to another, it’s perfect.
A mast of 92 cm or more will be dedicated to the race by offering more margin at high speed in choppy conditions but less maneuverability. All our masts: here.
Positioning of the foil?
For GONG foils, place the top plate in the center of the US rails to start and move it forward a few centimeters when you get into transitions (a sign of good progress).
The more you move it forward, the more the board will pitch nose-up. The more you move it backwards, the more the board nose-dives.
Be careful not to move it too far forward. We often tend not to let their back foot work, especially when we come from kite foiling. However, moving the foil back a little, forces more weight on the back foot and gives a more harmonious attitude and reduces effort.
Which leash?
Take a 6’ with a minimum diameter of 7mm.
Check its condition before each session and change it every year. This is your life jacket.
Good to know:
Never leave your board in the sun, especially an inflatable board, and even less a black carbon plate which will heat up very quickly. You risk seeing it come unstuck!!!
Do not screw further than the bottom of the box, otherwise you will pass through the skin of the inflatable. We deliver non-opening US nuts, but be careful.
Never let your foil board take a beating in the waves, especially close to the beach. You must protect it from major efforts. A wave that carries your board and rolls it can do serious damage.
Equipments
SCS System
The composite plate is equipped with Smart Connection System (SCS) double entry boxes to easily install and adjust the foil. The double holes correspond to the stance of the holes in your GONG foil plate. Simply present the foil with the brass nuts already mounted on the plate, slide them into the rails without disassembling, tighten the 4 screws, and you're ready to go.
To facilitate foil assembly, our new US fixing brass nuts are connected by a carbon fiber rod and are included with the board. This saves time for foil assembly, and the adjustment is precise. No more risk of losing your brass nuts: you leave them screwed on the plate and slide them into the US rails using the 4 new insertion holes. There's nothing to disassemble: just tighten the screws and go!
Foil adjustment is also easier and more precise with the adjustment information engraved on the plate.
Carrying handle
The handle in the carbon plate, placed on the hull, is a real comfort enhancement for launching and carrying over short distances. And it has no impact on the rigidity and strength of our plate, which are flawless.
Full deck pad
The premium 5mm thick full deck pad provides maximum grip and comfort while navigating. This Velvet Traction grooving pad offers a velvety touch underfoot and magical grip. Exceptionally stylish and high-quality, it enhances your board.
This relief-free pad truly provides absolute comfort. It's noticeable during long sessions: your feet are less tired.
Roller transport bag
The HIPE comes with a super practical and sturdy roller transport bag.
The bag is spacious enough to carry your HIPE Free Fly, foil, and wing.
It is designed for comfortable travel without exceeding baggage limits on most airlines!
The backpack straps are heavily padded and comfortable. The handles are super strong and comfortable to hold. The front pocket is generously sized to store your accessories and personal items without the risk of losing them. And the compression straps minimize the volume of the bag. Integrated compartments on the back of the front panel allow you to securely and neatly store your foil elements and hardware.
Nothing is missing!
Pump, hardware and repair kit
The provided dual-action rapid inflation pump is super efficient to get you on the water quickly.
All the hardware for foil is included with the board.
A repair kit is also included in case of damage (please note that the kit does not include glue, which you can easily find at your hardware store, typically PVC glue). Note that we stock all the components of your board for easy repair to its new state. Everything can be repaired on an inflatable.
Included equipment:
- ICS carbon plate.
- 5mm Velvet Traction pad: deck covering designed for maximum comfort and absolute grip.
- 2 Non-through SCS inserts joined by a carbon fiber rod.
