Wing foil Board Inflatable HIPE Cruzader

Program
The ultimate board for winging in ultra light wind conditions and downwinders, with the advantages of our high performance inflatable technology: compact and handy for trips.
Présentation
The HIPE Cruzader is our inflatable board for light wind conditions.
It is extreme in its performance, extreme in its innovative shape in inflatable technology, and extreme in the uses it allows. Wing foiling, downwind, SUP foiling, flat start, it's a real Swiss army knife for summer conditions.
Very narrow, relatively long, this board is a rocket ship when it comes to taking off in wing foiling or with a paddle. On this board you’re positioned in the center, which means you have the same length in front of your feet on a 6’6 Cruzader as you have on a 5’0. You never have the feeling of a longer board because a great part of the length of the board is in your back.
As soon as you pump, the tail propels the board forward and activates the lift of the foil. You can fly with less than 6 knots!!! With a 5m2 wing too… no need to overpower with cumbersome wings. It’s revolutionary.
Setting a new world record for early take-off is a challenge up your alley with this new board! 6 knots is all you need with our giant foils, even less for the pros. Obviously it is an ultra specific use, but what a treat! Surfing glassy waves, cruising full speed in 8 knots… And as soon as the wind picks up, you have an incredibly smooth board. This ability to fly below 10/12 knots will change your schedule and your view of the sport. It’s simply stunning!
Another huge advantage of the HIPE Cruzader: you can undersize the foil. In wing foiling you can put a foil that you would usually have trouble getting going with. In three pumping strokes on the board you fly and then you have all the advantages of a mini foil. Great for racing or fast cruising. But it is also valid in surfing where you can choose to maximize the maneuverability and simply paddle quietly back to the peak when pumping in the air becomes tiring.
Keep in mind that for a more versatile practice, you should opt for the most voluminous boards of the range, unless you are an expert in SUP foiling.
Having this board in the quiver is almost essential because you can do the downwinders of your life, surf incredibly tiny bumps, fly in wing foiling with close to zero wind! And take it with you on your trips without any constraints.

NARROW OUTLINE
With its width reduced to a minimum, you are on the most ultimate inflatable board for glide.
The 6” drop stitch allows for substantial volume over a narrow width. The board glides over the water like a SUP race board: ideal for popping early and for restarting in the bumps.
Its extremely narrow outline boosts its preflight speed and take-off. It’s crucial. Once in the air, you enjoy a unique ability to go for almost every angle in the curves without ever touching the water, even if it is rather marginal for the cool use it is intended for. But it is a really beautiful outline to see.
SLENDER PIN TAIL
Its slender tail seems to generate no drag at all.
It’s amazing when you see the board pass by. And as soon as we want to take off; this volume in length lifts the board and accelerates the flight.
ROUNDED POINT NOSE
The rounded point nose keeps the liveliness of a fine nose but brings the little touch of additional comfort that we are very happy to have sometimes.
FLAT ROCKER
Finally, the rocker is as flat as possible because we want to fly. Besides, once in the air the rocker is not fundamental. Having a lot of rocker would slow the takeoff, and that’s really not the point. Remember that the objective is to have fun in the small sluggish days. That’s why this rocker makes sense.
A SPECIFIC ICS PLATE
The outline of the plate has been designed for high-level performance. Pointed at the rear, it perfectly matches the shape of the tail of the board and offers maximum glide before flight by letting the water escape as cleanly as possible.
The plate is also extended at the front to best adapt to the particular use of the HIPE Cruzader and the very different foils that can be added to it.
It is designed to withstand the stresses of our giant wings: the ultimate combo for early take-offs.
To optimize weight, glide and bending management, our plate has a unique 3D volume:
- A beam at the axis prevents any bending.
- A very gentle volume drop on the front reduces the thickness and therefore the weight, while retaining the necessary mechanics to support the pressure of the front heel.
- At the rear, the drop in volume is more brutal on the sides to recover verticality which will further support the beam effect on the plate.
- The whole thing is “steamlined” according to a hydrodynamic study of the flows which also promotes speed in contact with water, valuable before flight but also to avoid braking during touchdowns.

Buying guide
For whom?
In wing foiling, you must have a decent level or a strong motivation because the HIPE Cruzader is a demanding board. Whatever your weight and your desires, the HIPE Cruz will be the queen of light wind. Satisfaction guaranteed for a level of hassle equal to zero!!!
In SUP foiling with a big foil, it’s almost easy, but paddling, and especially in the chop: it’s technical. So you must have a great level as a SUPer before considering a HIPE Cruz. Otherwise it will have to be tamed for a long time beforehand on the flat.
It is clearly the board for those who want to go to the maximum of their potential in marginal conditions.
For what?
The HIPE Cruzader is a pure light wind board that comes with the perks of an inflatable technology.
Once we have said that, we obviously think of traveling. The drama of a one week trip with just too little wind to fly is ancient history! If you travel with the HIPE Cruzader = you will fly no matter what!!!
And as it is narrow, it is comfortable in all performance registers, including top speed in DW because the control at high speed is fantastic.
Ideal for surfing on soft bumps, it allows you to make the most of mediocre days.
In winging, it is the absolute tool to fly in marginal wind conditions. Ultra cool, really in tune with the most modern potential of winging, it’s the anti-frustration board par excellence. Strictly essential.
On windless flat days, it’s a fantastic toy to have fun with friends, fly with a huge foil, or to work on cardio.
What Size?
Do not rely solely on the volume of the board, this shape draws all its potential from its length which is the number one asset. A little more comfort will not be penalizing. You will probably be on a positive volume, even if the best of you are not on their usual wing board.
Here are some examples to help you make the right choice:
- The longer the board, the sooner you get going, whether you’re winging in light winds or paddling.
- The 6’0 and the 6’6 are aimed at the smallest of you or those who want a 100% wing foiling performance program.
- You have an average size, or an intermediate level in wing foiling, go for the 7’0 or the 7’6.
- You want to use it mainly as a downwind SUP foiling board, choose the 7’11, or the 7’6.
- You want to discover the pleasures of light wind winging, and you are still in the progression phase, the 7’6 is made for you.
- Your objective is to get into flat start paddling, choose the 7’11.
- You are a bigger foiler, or you want comfort, choose the 7’11.
The bigger it is, the easier it is. It’s that simple ?
Which Quiver?
The HIPE Cruzader will perfectly complement a generous quiver by offering a big plus in very special conditions which are often 80% of the days at home. So don’t miss it.
It is an incredible foil board, which can become the cornerstone of your quiver and that you take with you anywhere.
It will obviously need a very large tail foil, even giant, to get the most out of it.
A 72 HM Mast will be perfect for cool riding.

- 3XL for everyone in the very light wind and the bigger riders in winds under 10 knots.
At this level, everyone can adapt their equipment to their needs. Just remember that the wingspan is a point to take into consideration when riding high aspect ratios. The glide is fabulous, but be careful not to sacrifice maneuverability and rail-to-rail precision by using large sizes if you are looking for a very reactive drive. This is why even the pros do not necessarily ride in high aspect ratios!
The size of the front wing and in particular its surface and its volume condition the speed/lift ratio. The smaller the wing, the faster you will go but the more uncomfortable you will be at low speeds. The bigger the wing, the earlier you will fly but you’ll be penalized in handling and top speed.
Which Stab?
The stabs have a major role. They determine the stability of the foil and help with its lift, but to the detriment of the maximum speed of the foil and its maneuverability if they are too large. The role of the stabilizer is to stabilize the foil but also to compensate for the natural tendency of the front wing to dive. So you must have a good balance of surfaces between your stab and your front wing. A 38 cm stab with an XXL wing will give a catastrophic result at high speed: the foil will dive at high speed because the stab will no longer be able to lift enough to counteract the nosediving torque of the front wing.
Remember that the stab must be proportional to the front wing. This is why we have named them S M L XL like the front wings so that you can pair them easily. Creating an imbalance brings no benefit except the illusion of better glide.
Thus the X-Over stabs are slower than the Fluid or Veloce stabs, but are much more lifty, and therefore effective at low speed or with a large front wing (for beginners for example). The Curve stab is at the border of these two worlds and the Freestyle stab is 100% dedicated to radical moves.
In the X-Overrange: super easy and effective stabs from low speeds to progress smoothly:
- L 44 for those under 75kg and for everyone in winds above 15 knots.
- XL 48 for those over 75kg and for everyone in winds below 20 knots.

- S 36 for those under 65kg and for everyone in winds over 25 knots.
- M 39 for those under 75kg and for everyone in winds over 20 knots.
- L 43 for those under 85kg and for everyone in winds above 15 knots.
- XL 46 for those over 95kg and for everyone in winds of less than 20 knots.
In the Fluid H range: stabs with a crazy glide for a radical drive but easy and relatively fast:
- S 38 for those under 65kg and for everyone in winds over 25 knots.
- M 42 for those under 75kg and for everyone in winds above 18 knots.

- XL 46 for those over 95kg and for everyone in winds of less than 20 knots.
Which foil mast?
The larger the wings of your foil are, the more rigidity you will need. Note that the pumping phase is where this need is most felt, namely in SUP foiling. The rigidity of the mast will clearly have a very significant impact on your performance. So for a front wing of a size XL or more, use an HM mast.
In SUP foiling:
The Allvator V2 aluminum 65cm is perfect. If you are a pro, switch to the carbon mast HM 70cm: masterful. If you use a Sirus front wing or a Curve / Fluid in very large sizes, switch to the HM 72cm or 79cm mast to get 100% of the performance from these giant wings.
In wing foiling:
The best sizes for winging range from 85 cm to 107 cm. Find all our advice on choosing the size that suits you best by clicking here.
In summary, for waves and freestyle, but also for beginners and progressing, an 85 mast is ideal. Simple to put in the water, easy to switch from one rail to another, it’s perfect.
A rigid mast will give you more precision and better sensations, very effective pumping, especially with large wings.
What paddle length?
For the Cruzader, you need a paddle between your height and your height +10cm. If flat starts are your objective, you will need a powerful paddle, so at least an 8 Pro paddle for SUP foilers of light/medium builds, or a 9 Pro paddle for bigger persons. A small blade will not give you the power you need to reach the right takeoff speed, unless you have a very light build and are very fit.
Positioning of the foil?
For GONG foils, place the plate in the rear third when you start and in the center of the US rails when you progress. The Pros can position the foil even further towards the front for more lift and maneuverability.
The more you move it forward, the more the board will pitch nose-up. The more you move it backwards, the more the board nose-dives.
Be careful not to move it too far forward. We often tend not to let their back foot work, especially when we come from kite foiling. However, moving the foil back a little, forces more weight on the back foot and gives a more harmonious attitude and reduces effortWhich leash?
Which leash?
Take an 8’ leash with a minimum diameter of 7mm, ideally a belt leash, with a coiled or straight rope.
Check its condition before each session and change it every year. It is your lifejacket and the life insurance of the people in front of you.
Equipments
SCS SYSTEM
The composite plate is equipped with Smart Connection System (SCS) double entry boxes to easily install and adjust the foil. The double holes correspond to the stance of the holes in your GONG foil plate. Simply present the foil with the brass nuts already mounted on the plate, slide them into the rails without disassembling, tighten the 4 screws, and you're ready to go.
To facilitate foil assembly, our new US fixing brass nuts are connected by a carbon fiber rod and are included with the board. This saves time for foil assembly, and the adjustment is precise. No more risk of losing your brass nuts: you leave them screwed on the plate and slide them into the US rails using the 4 new insertion holes. There's nothing to disassemble: just tighten the screws and go!
Foil adjustment is also easier and more precise with the adjustment information engraved on the plate. On the HIPE Cruzader plate, the rails are extended to offer a wide adjustment range.
CARRYING HANDLE
The handle in the carbon plate, placed on the hull, is a real comfort enhancement for launching and carrying over short distances. And it has no impact on the rigidity and strength of our plate, which are flawless.
FOOTSTRAPS
The set of 3 footstraps is included with the board.
Developed for wingfoiling, these moderate coverage straps do not fold during wear. With less surface area on the instep, there is less risk of getting stuck or hitting the foot on the edge of the strap when putting it on quickly. This also allows for better leeward support (with the tip of your foot) and therefore a more natural stance in wing foiling.
Sufficiently rigid, they provide precise control while remaining very comfortable.
The V-shaped front footstrap perfectly centers the foot on the front of the board. This positioning is more natural and allows for direct and precise control during maneuvers.
Every detail has been carefully crafted to enhance your on-water experience.
FULL DECK PAD
The premium 5mm thick full deck pad provides maximum grip and comfort while navigating. This Velvet Traction grooving pad offers a velvety touch underfoot and magical grip. Exceptionally stylish and high-quality, it enhances your board.
This relief-free pad truly provides absolute comfort. It's noticeable during long sessions: your feet are less tired.
The position of the pad on the board is optimized for surfing, with a real rearward tail pad with kicker to properly place your foot in carves.
ROLLER TRANSPORT BAG
The HIPE comes with a super practical and sturdy roller transport bag.
The bag is spacious enough to carry your HIPE Cruzader, foil, and wing.
It is designed for comfortable travel without exceeding baggage limits on most airlines!
The backpack straps are heavily padded and comfortable. The handles are super strong and comfortable to hold. The front pocket is generously sized to store your accessories and personal items without the risk of losing them. And the compression straps minimize the volume of the bag. Integrated compartments on the back of the front panel allow you to securely and neatly store your foil elements and hardware.
Nothing is missing!
PUMP, HARDWARE, AND REPAIR KIT
The provided dual-action rapid inflation pump is super efficient to get you on the water quickly.
All the hardware for the straps and foil is included with the board.
A repair kit is also included in case of damage (please note that the kit does not include glue, which you can easily find at your hardware store, typically PVC glue). Note that we stock all the components of your board for easy repair to its new state. Everything can be repaired on an inflatable.
