Description

Program

The stab for a total control in curves.

Introduction

The Curve stab offers the best blend of ease, control and maneuverability.

It is the perfect stab for foilers looking for maximum performance in curves. This is what this stab is all about, it is both maneuverable at low speed and super stable in long curves at high speed. It’s behavior is very healthy thanks to a grip that acts to keep the foil on its trajectory.

The foil will be both very maneuverable and very controllable. It locks into the trajectory and allows you to push hard in the curves with a feeling of total control.

Just like the Curve front wing, the goal of this stab is to be predictable and to guarantee you total control in surfing. That also applies to long speed runs in wing foiling.

An accessible and compact stab that will boost your progression without ever restricting your performance.

Curve stabs in sizes 36 cm, 39 cm, 43 cm, 46 cm, 49cm and 53cm will allow you to have fun whatever the sport, be it kite, wing, surf or SUP foiling.

Choosing the right size

Curve stabs are accessible and will be the perfect complement to a Curve, but they can work very well with other front wings if you feel that you need a stab that promotes control in carves.

Choose the size you usually like from GONG. Always adjust the size of the stab to the size of the front wing for a balanced flight. A stab L with a front wing L will give a perfectly balanced set up.

Shape

The shape of the Curve stab is designed for stability in curves and natural rail to rail.

The outline

The curved outline of the stab projects its tips backwards: there is more leverage on the front wing which brings a lot of stability in the pitch axis. This allows you to press hard on the back foot with no risk of a sudden stall. This stab brings a lot of confidence and allows you to focus on what really matters: drawing perfect lines.

The profile

The profile has a moderate volume, distributed over its entire wingspan. It is perfectly balanced between lift and glide. It’s really great for maintaining speed in bottom turns or for maneuvers in wing foiling.

The type of profile

The profile of the new Curve stab is relatively thin in proportion to its chord. It is a profile that allows you to fly at low speed and brings a lot of lift in pumping or maneuvers, it never stalls!

The max width of the profile has been significantly moved back compared to the previous Curve stab. You gain a lot of glide and top speed, but also more roundness in its behavior (less ON/OFF).

The rear third of the extrado is the key point of this new profile. With more volume there, the stab lifts more for the same effort. It offers a little less top speed but a lot more length between two pumps and a lot more lift at low speed. Another stunning point: It recovers from a stall incredibly well.

The dihedral

The negative dihedral in the center of the stab gives it a clear grip for a super predictable behavior that really gives you confidence. In addition, it keeps the tips away from the surface of the water so it greatly reduces the risk of breaching the stab on the surface. Just like a surfboard with a simple concave, the point is to hold on to the water. It’s really a stab for carving and not for snapping.

The combo with the winglets makes it super safe : you can push in the legs and put a maximum of power without stalling. Be it in curves or at high speed, they provide a real gain in stability.

The fuselage

This stab is only compatible with our titanium or aluminum Pro fuselages. The tail of the stab in full carbon allowed us to optimize the shape of this part of the foil. The drag was significantly reduced as well as its weight. The rear portion of the fuselage and stab are made of one piece. It is ultra streamlined to reduce drag by 3. This is a true Pro fuselage which unbridles all the front wings of the range. The gain is of 3 to 5 knots in top speed compared to our V2 fuselage.

This slender back end of the fuselage is so efficient that it boosts handling by generating less drag. Its very small section next to the stab makes it much easier to drift and cut turns short.

The fillets connecting the fitting to the profile have been optimized for more glide. But they also prevent twisting for perfect stiffness.

The trapezoidal fitting system with the Pro fuselage ensures perfect firmness of the assembly without the need for counter-screws. The whole thing gives a very nice foil, light, rigid and devilishly efficient!

Innovation is at the core of our products

Our wings and stabs are made of 90% Prepreg 3K carbon, with more than 15 layers of carbon fiber in total. High tension points such as the joints and connections are reinforced with Kevlar to resist tearing and glass for tolerance. Molded at high pressure and high temperature on a foam core, our wings and stabs are practically indestructible. Both rigid and floating, they are the perfect balance between contained weight and infinite durability.

This technology has been tested and proven for over three years without any breaking on 30,000 ALLVATOR foil wings. In the event of a violent impact on a rock, you can easily repair them and they will be as good as new.

You will never see a GONG wing open on a leading edge because our unique draping technique crosses the layers of fibres. So there is no sharing line on our wings. The entire outline has overlapping gaps, just like the rails on your top of the range boards.

This foil is completely dismountable to adapt to all sports at a lower cost and gives you the possibility of replacing a damaged part. A complete catalog of spare parts is available, to allow you to make it compatible with multiple supports (Surf / SUP / Kite / Wing), and to explore the entire range of use of the foil in each sport and at all levels.

Please note that GONG is at the forefront of foil development. We have been at the origin of the creation of the biggest foil factory that produces the major brands today. 18 months of intense work and dozens of tools developed. So don’t imagine that our foils are made in a gloomy garage. We develop all our products according to the rules of the art, with many internal engineers, with state-of-the-art 3D software, countless tests, with a Team at the highest level. That’s one of the reasons why we can offer low prices and refined products: we know what we’re doing from A to Z. We do not sell freelance designed foils. Our teams are at work year round and dedicated to the development of our products.

Wing tips are a potential source of danger. We take care not to produce an intrinsically dangerous design, within the limits of efficient hydrodynamics. Likewise, the trailing edges are designed not to be dangerously sharp. We invite you to be extremely careful despite these precautions because these parts remain sharp and dangerous by nature. Stay away, wear the proper protections, and never sharpen them. Systematically repair the slightest hitch in the outline because it represents a danger for you and others if it were to cut your leash for example. In all situations, the greatest caution is required. If in doubt, abstain (waves, strong wind, etc.).

Our R&D as well as our Quality Control guarantees you products of the highest quality. Firstly because our engineers based in South Brittany, France, are the first users. Their passion for our sports coupled with their qualifications have enabled us to create a unique research center in the world.

Our position as world leader in foiling is no coincidence. Our 3D simulations, our countless technical and technological prototyping, our state-of-the-art tools, our 100% GONG factory, our tests with the Pro Team which is among the most efficient, the thousands of feedback from our customers and our Ambassadors , and a ultra involved shaper designer: these are the key elements among many others that allow us to manufacture exceptional foils.

Several years ago, we were at the origin of the creation of the first foil factory in Asia, which today produces the “prestige” brands. 18 months of intense work and dozens of tools developed. Three years ago, we launched a new 100% GONG factory which allows us to produce more parts and keep our developments and technologies secret, to offer you the best of foils.
We want to offer low prices without ever cutting corners on quality, and refined products without ever diminishing performance in each program: we know what we are doing from A to Z. We do not sell foils designed by a freelancer, we do not do not sell marketing concepts. We do thorough, serious and innovative work to create efficient and solid foils at an unbeatable price.

Buying guide

For whom?

It is a stab for intermediate level foilers who want a playful foil that provides maximum control in maneuvers.

  • In surf foiling, you should already know how to take off but it is easy and reassuring. The stab will allow you to progress a lot without slowing you down, and this for many sessions to come.
  • In wing foiling, you should already know how to fly and stabilize the flight. The stabilizer offers amazing control and helps a lot to sail upwind. It offers a great lift/glide balance which makes working on maneuvers very pleasant.
  • In kite foiling, you can learn with it or you already know how to sail. It is perfect for charging and having perfect yaw stability. It’s super predictable.

What for?

These stabs have been designed to make the most of waves, linking turns and maintaining speed. It is also great to work on maneuvers in flat conditions, be it wing or kite foiling gear.

With a generous and very well thought out profile, it is a stab offering a great glide/lift compromise. Its dihedral and its winglets make it super playful and the control is total.

  • In surf foiling, it is clearly the ultimate stab to link turns like you would on a shortboard. It offers traction and carves hard, meaning a soft wave will never be boring again.
  • In wing foiling, it is a comfortable stabilizer, reassuring and offering great maneuverability.
  • In kite foiling, it’s great for getting comfortable at high speeds, with constant control.

Which size?

The Curve stabs are quite simple to use despite their important aspect ratio. Choose the size you usually like from GONG.

Always adjust the size of the stab to the size of the front wing for a balanced flight.

The 36 cm in wingspan is 180 cm², 0.57 cm thick for a volume of 0.06 L

  • In surf foiling, it is a stab for very light surfers or for powerful waves.
  • In winging, it means sacrificing the low end a bit, but in high end it allows you to accelerate hard and in control.
  • In kite foiling, it’s great for going fast and keeping control at high speed.

The 39 cm in wingspan is 225 cm², 0.63 cm thick for a volume of 0.08 L.

  • In surf foiling, it is a small stab for very light surfers of a good level.
  • In winging, it’s small but perfect for riders of an advanced level looking for versatility and a great low end.
In kite foiling, it’s a key stab for a lot of riders who want a mix of good top speed and maneuverability.

The 43 cm in wingspan is 275 cm², 0.69 cm thick for a volume of 0.10L.

  • In surf foiling, it is a stab that will suit the majority of medium-sized foilers.
  • In winging, it’s perfect for resourceful riders looking for versatility with a very good low range.
  • In kite foiling, it is a great stab for heavy riders.

The 46 cm in wingspan is 315 cm², 0.74 cm thick for a volume of 0.13L.

  • In surf foiling, it is a great stab for heavy foilers.
  • In winging, it is a great stab for the heavy foilers.
  • In kite foiling: pointless, it’s too big.

The 49 cm in wingspan is 355 cm², 0.79 cm thick for a volume of 0.15L.

  • In surf foiling, it is a great stab for heavy foilers equipped with very big front wings.
  • In winging, it is a great stab for the heavy foilers equipped with very big front wings.

The 53 cm in wingspan is 380 cm², 0.93 cm thick for a volume of 0.19L.

  • In surf foiling, it is a great stab for heavy foilers equipped with giant front wings.
  • In winging, it is a great stab for the heavy foilers equipped with giant front wings.

Which quiver?

The Curve stab is very versatile. You can mount it on a large board but it will reveal its true potential on shorter boards where rail to rail is preferred.

Positioning of the foil?

For beginners on GONG foils, place the plate in the rear third for surfing, SUP and kite, and in the middle of the US rails for wing foiling.

The further you move it, the more it pitches the board up. The more you move it back, the more the nose of the board dives.

With these high ratio stabs, we will probably have to move it forward as they carry very little. Do not put it too much forward eather, it would generate a weird feel and would in fact be a sign that your stab is too small. This could induce whistling of the foil despite a perfect trailing edge.

Be careful not to move it too far forward. We often tend to forget to use the back foot, especially when we have a kite foil background. However, moving the foil back a little forces you to put more weight on the back foot and gives a more harmonious attitude and reduces effort.

Shipping

Availability:

The dates of availability of all our products are written on each product page, in the size and colour of the product concerned.

These dates are valid at the moment you consult the site and/or place an order. It is possible that this product may be ordered a few seconds after your consultation. It then becomes unavailable. If you have placed an order, this change does not concern you: the product you order is still available on the date indicated at the time of your order.

We sell several thousand products per week. The stocks are therefore very evolutionary. But our management always shows you the real availability live.

If it’s available online: it’s available ?

Pre-order:

Some articles are proposed in pre-order during their routing to our premises. You can buy this article which will arrive at our place in a few weeks. This method avoids the fair to grab upon receipt of the lot and the disappointed ones who would not order within the hour.

Upon receipt, we will ship it to you as a regular order.

The times indicated on the pre-orders are 95% reliable. First of all, because we only pre-sell finished products that are arriving to us after Customs, and therefore shipped right after. And also, because we add decent margins with concern to the dates announced by the shipping companies or railways.

However, a Worker Strike, a breakdown, an overbooking, can unfortunately happen. In the case of a delay, you will be notified by email (check your spam). It is generally less than a week and totally independent of our good will.

As soon as we receive the container in La Baule, we ship your order within three working days. Then the carrier takes over: delivery time and tracking numbers are under their responsibility.

It is possible that the date displayed on the online for the pre-order of the item you have ordered and paid for may change for two reasons:

  1. All quantities of the batch are sold (most common reason). In this case, orders placed for the first container will be delivered as scheduled.
  2. The container is late and we have to shift the date by a few days. (Strikes, breakdowns, overbooking, can unfortunately happen). You will be notified by email.

We never change the delivery dates of a container without notifying customers.

Delays:

The dates that we announce are shipping deadlines, which GONG has in stock and available here physically.

We usually give a shipping time within 3 days, but in most cases, we ship within 24/48 hours. Normally morning orders leave in the afternoon for example.

Then the transport service takes over. The variables are then important between the customer being delivered to France (very fast) or Bulgaria (a good week) or to a forwarding agent or to Asia or the USA… You understand that each location has its own type of delay.

We work with serious and well-known carriers. They do their utmost to make you happy even if a snafu can happen. In any case, we are there to make things easier and to arrange our customers.

Shipping Fees:

Contrary to others, we do not hide shipping costs in the price of our products. At GONG everyone knows exactly what he pays. The transport is charged at its strictest value, and the person who comes to pick up his products does not pay hidden transport fees.

Shipping costs are calculated according to the weight and volume of each package, and your delivery address. To this is added a labour time of order preparation.

The invoicing of the shipping costs is identical in continental France and in the bordering European countries. A surcharge is automatically invoiced for deliveries to the most distant European countries and all European islands.

For a shipment in French overseas departments and territories or outside Europe, our logistics department will contact you before the payment stage to give you an estimate of the shipping costs. You will be able to accept this estimate and pay your order, or refuse it and cancel your order.

Any questions:

We answer you within 24 hours by email. But 95% of your questions are answered on the site. Try to use our contact form which will guide you to all these answers.

Don’t forget to read the Forum, where thousands of users exchange information and experiences.

In any case, don’t panic. If you don’t get an answer during the weekend, it’s normal: the team is resting ?

We are passionate and professional in our job. Our only goal is to make you happy, as much as possible ?

Eco-responsible packaging:

Preserving the environment is a top priority. That’s why we are doing everything possible to reduce our environmental footprint.

The first thing is to sell quality products that will last, be repairable and will please you for a long time.

The second thing is to sell for less. Most of the pollution coming from a Board is in its use (the km driven to use it) and in the countless environmental damages you have to do to pay for it. Each euro spent is a sum of damage related to your life quite simply: eating, working hard etc… By reducing the price of our products, we significantly reduce your ecological footprint on this item.

For our shipments we use:

  • Flexi-Hex: ecological packaging of very high resistance.
  • Paper Craft Scotch Tape.
  • Final packaging made of high-end cardboard.

All this for:

  • Reusable and recyclable packaging.
  • An almost total reduction of single-use plastic.
  • Maximum protection and impact resistance thanks to the innovative design of Flexi-Hex honeycomb (35mm thick).

Tracking of your stab :

The tracking of deliveries is directly ensured by the carriers to whom we have entrusted your parcels. They will contact you by email or SMS to allow you to choose the delivery methods and to follow the route of your package.

If you ask us for this tracking, we will have to do as you do: we will go see on the carrier’s app because they are the ones who manage and are responsible for this job.

Delivery:

We collaborate with the best transport providers to deliver you everywhere in Europe and in the world in very short delays.

We have chosen them for their quality of service and their respect of deadlines. 80% of your orders reach their destination in less than 48 hours of processing in metropolitan and continental France.

For Europe, the delays vary from 3 to 6 days depending on the country of destination.

For the rest of the world, delays can be up to 15 days.

Please note that the transport time is added to the preparation/shipping time. Two companies work on your order (GONG and the carrier). Each one controls its activity and commits itself to optimize its delays so that you are delivered as soon as possible, in good condition and at a reasonable price.

Reception of your wing:

Upon delivery, simply open and inspect the condition of your Board in the presence of the carrier. A complete email explaining the procedure to follow will be sent to you when your order is shipped.

In spite of our requirements and all the care we take in packaging and protecting your Board, transportation hazards may occur. Even if it concerns less than 2% of everything we ship around the world, a Board can suffer a more or less important transportation shock.

But in any case, don’t worry, just refuse it, and a new Board will be shipped back to you.

Returns:

You can choose to return your products if:

  • You are not satisfied (14 days right of retraction).
  • You want to change an item.
  • You have refused your package.

For each situation, contact us by our contact form to help you.

1 review for GONG FOIL ALLVATOR STAB CURVE

Warning :

The practice of the sport Foil may expose you to serious injury. A poor mastering of Foil may lead to cut, serious injury and/or including death for you and/or others.

Foil should be practiced by taking into consideration all kite user precautions that are associated with  the sport Foil. Remember that a Foil is long, cutting, and reaches high speeds. Getting hit by a Foil, or hitting someone/thing can have dramatic consequences.

Always Foil far from others, in a secure and safe waterscape without obstacles.

Foil is most often practiced in light winds which may cease to blow leading you to return to shore by swimming. As a consequence do not overestimate your your strength/capacity : never go further out than your skill and swimming capacities and wind conditions allow.

Always wear a helmet and life vest for floatation. Always wear a full body wetsuit.

When handling the Foil, be careful not to cut yourself along the edges.

GONG is NOT responsable in case of any and all accidents implicating a Foil GONG. The practice of Foil is undertaken under the complete responsability of the Foil User/Practioner.

DISPUTES AND LIABILITY

GONG-GALAXY cannot be held liable for non-performance of the contract formed, on the one hand due to a force majeure event, as defined by the courts, and on the other hand, in the event of wrongdoing by the client or an unforeseeable and insurmountable act by a third party to the contract. GONG-GALAXY cannot be held liable for consequences resulting from the incorrect use of products sold on the Website.

Although our products have performances that are compatible with professional use, GONG-GALAXY does not intend to sell the professionals.

The danger in sports practised depends in large part in respecting fundamental rules for safety, priorities, and local regulations that are required for spots.

Each user of GONG-GALAXY products is responsible for making sure that he is at least covered by civil liability insurance, if necessary, by purchasing a sports license.

The rules for maintenance, use, and safety are found in the instructions for use delivered with each product. The instructions may also be downloaded by clicking on the following link or from the GONG-GALAXY.COM website. The instructions form an integral part of the scope of this contract, for which it constitutes an exhibit in and of itself. You acknowledge that you have carefully examined it.

Special statement regarding “foils” products

The practice of foils, in every medium, presents a special hazard. Notwithstanding the contents of the instructions for use of each product, it is imperative that a few simple rules be observed:

  • Wear a safety vest and a helmet. Foils contain areas of impact that are indispensable for their proper operation, but which present a real danger in the event of a shock. You are most exposed to this risk as a practitioner on the device. You must therefore protect yourself, consequently, using adequate equipment that meets standards. And you must protect yourself by never placing yourself in an at-risk situation. Your behaviour determines the risk you take.
  • Except for kite surf boards, equip your board, at all times, with a leash that is at least equal to the length of the board, as well as foot straps. These elements make it possible not to completely release the board in the direction of other users. Never move in a distance that is less than the length of your leash plus that of the board plus your centreboard should you fall amongst other practitioners. You must never bring a third party into this diameter which forms the area in which your activity presents risk.
  • Only practice in spots that are conducive for the activity (secure water entry, lack of shore break, regular bottom, orientation adapted the wind direction, etc.) and not frequented by practitioners of other nautical sports. A foil’s speeds require that the solo practitioner or one amongst multiple foil practitioners move in an environment where each person anticipates and has awareness of the others’ trajectories.
  • Scrupulously follow the rules of priority, especially since inertia and manoeuvrability are different from traditional media, above all for beginners. Courtesy and the sense of responsibility must be part of your practice so as not to create deviant behaviour that might lead to an accident.
  • Pay attention to the other practitioners, and generally speaking, to all users of the water body, even if they do not have priority in your area of movement (they may, among other things, underestimate your speed and your danger zone). Never practice around children or people who are unfamiliar with the sport, as their reactions might be completely unpredictable. You would be fully liable. GONG SUP will do everything in its power to alert you to the risks and explain to you the practical framework that we recommend. You cannot ignore these instructions as this would endanger you and everyone else, and jeopardize the GONG SUP brand which is a responsible company.
  • Pay attention to the water depth, since the presence of an appendage with several tens of centimetres below a beach vehicle is a new data point for a good number of practitioners, even those familiar with watersports. Breakage associated with pressure against or striking the bottom is not covered by the warranty.
  • Maintain and check your equipment regularly, and make no technical modification to it other than products and solutions sold by GONG-GALAXY. Never sharpen the trailing edges, as they would become cutting both for you and for the leash, thereby no longer holding onto the board!

It is highly recommended that you begin foil practice in an appropriate pedagogical setting, by means of an accredited club or school, that you read all of her articles on the GONG forum. This is to allow you to acquire an appropriate level of self-sufficiency and a real knowledge of the stakes in the practice of foil.
