Wing foil Board Inflatable HIPE Cruzader

Program
The ultimate board for winging in ultra light wind conditions and downwinders, with the advantages of our high performance inflatable technology: compact and handy for trips.
Presentation
The HIPE Cruzader is our inflatable board for light wind conditions.
It is extreme in its performance, extreme in its innovative shape in inflatable technology, and extreme in the uses it allows. Wing foiling, downwind, SUP foiling, flat start, it's a real Swiss army knife for summer conditions.
Very narrow, relatively long, this board is a rocket ship when it comes to taking off in wing foiling or with a paddle. On this board you’re positioned in the center, which means you have the same length in front of your feet on a 6’6 Cruzader as you have on a 5’0. You never have the feeling of a longer board because a great part of the length of the board is in your back.
As soon as you pump, the tail propels the board forward and activates the lift of the foil. You can fly with less than 6 knots!!! With a 5m2 wing too… no need to overpower with cumbersome wings. It’s revolutionary.
Setting a new world record for early take-off is a challenge up your alley with this new board! 6 knots is all you need with our giant foils, even less for the pros. Obviously it is an ultra specific use, but what a treat! Surfing glassy waves, cruising full speed in 8 knots… And as soon as the wind picks up, you have an incredibly smooth board. This ability to fly below 10/12 knots will change your schedule and your view of the sport. It’s simply stunning!
Another huge advantage of the HIPE Cruzader: you can undersize the foil. In wing foiling you can put a foil that you would usually have trouble getting going with. In three pumping strokes on the board you fly and then you have all the advantages of a mini foil. Great for racing or fast cruising. But it is also valid in surfing where you can choose to maximize the maneuverability and simply paddle quietly back to the peak when pumping in the air becomes tiring.
Keep in mind that for a more versatile practice, you should opt for the most voluminous boards of the range, unless you are an expert in SUP foiling. By optimizing the board's weight, the difference is obvious. You instantly notice the benefit, and going for a bigger board is no longer a limitation!
Having this board in the quiver is almost essential because you can do the downwinders of your life, surf incredibly tiny bumps, fly in wing foiling with close to zero wind! And take it with you on your trips without any constraints.

NARROW OUTLINE
With its width reduced to a minimum, you are on the most ultimate inflatable board for glide. The 6” dropstitch allows for substantial volume over a narrow width. The board glides over the water like a SUP race board: ideal for popping early and for restarting in the bumps.
Its extremely narrow outline boosts its preflight speed and take-off. It’s crucial. Once in the air, you enjoy a unique ability to go for almost every angle in the curves without ever touching the water, even if it is rather marginal for the cool use it is intended for. But it is a really beautiful outline to see.
FLAT ROCKER
The rocker is as flat as possible because we want to fly. Besides, once in the air the rocker is not fundamental. Having a lot of rocker would slow the takeoff, and that’s really not the point. Remember that the objective is to have fun in the small sluggish days. That’s why this rocker makes sense.
SLENDER PIN TAIL
Its slender tail seems to generate no drag at all. It’s amazing when you see the board pass by. And as soon as we want to take off; this volume in length lifts the board and accelerates the flight.
ROUNDED POINT NOSE
The rounded point nose keeps the liveliness of a fine nose but brings the little touch of additional comfort that we are very happy to have sometimes.
A SPECIFIC ICS PLATE
The outline of the plate has been designed for high-level performance. Pointed at the rear, it perfectly matches the shape of the tail of the board and offers maximum glide before flight by letting the water escape as cleanly as possible.
The plate is also extended at the front to best adapt to the particular use of the HIPE Cruzader and the very different foils that can be added to it.
It is designed to withstand the stresses of our giant wings: the ultimate combo for early take-offs.
To optimize weight, glide and bending management, our plate has a unique 3D volume:
A beam at the axis prevents any bending.
A very gentle volume drop on the front reduces the thickness and therefore the weight, while retaining the necessary mechanics to support the pressure of the front heel.
At the rear, the drop in volume is more brutal on the sides to recover verticality which will further support the beam effect on the plate.

Buying guide
For whom?
In wing foiling, you must have a decent level or a strong motivation because the HIPE Cruzader is a demanding board. Whatever your weight and your desires, the HIPE Cruz will be the queen of light wind. Satisfaction guaranteed for a level of hassle equal to zero!!!
In SUP foiling with a big foil, it’s almost easy, but paddling, and especially in the chop: it’s technical. So you must have a great level as a SUPer before considering a HIPE Cruz. Otherwise it will have to be tamed for a long time beforehand on the flat.
It is clearly the board for those who want to go to the maximum of their potential in marginal conditions.
For what?
The HIPE Cruzader is a pure light wind board that comes with the perks of an inflatable technology.
Once we have said that, we obviously think of traveling. The drama of a one week trip with just too little wind to fly is ancient history! If you travel with the HIPE Cruzader = you will fly no matter what!!!
And as it is narrow, it is comfortable in all performance registers, including top speed in DW because the control at high speed is fantastic.
Ideal for surfing on soft bumps, it allows you to make the most of mediocre days.
In winging, it is the absolute tool to fly in marginal wind conditions. Ultra cool, really in tune with the most modern potential of winging, it’s the anti-frustration board par excellence. Strictly essential.
On windless flat days, it’s a fantastic toy to have fun with friends, fly with a huge foil, or to work on cardio.
Which size?
Do not rely solely on the volume of the board, this shape draws all its potential from its length which is the number one asset. A little more comfort will not be penalizing. You will probably be on a positive volume, even if the best of you are not on their usual wing board.
Here are some examples to help you make the right choice:
The longer the board, the sooner you get going, whether you’re winging in light winds or paddling.
The 6’0 and the 6’6 are aimed at the smallest of you or those who want a 100% wing foiling performance program.
You have an average size, or an intermediate level in wing foiling, go for the 7’0 or the 7’6.
You want to use it mainly as a downwind SUP foiling board, choose the 7’11, or the 7’6.
You want to discover the pleasures of light wind winging, and you are still in the progression phase, the 7’6 is made for you.
Your objective is to get into flat start paddling, choose the 7’11.
You are a bigger foiler, or you want comfort, choose the 7’11.
The bigger it is, the easier it is. It’s that simple ;-)
Which quiver mates?
The HIPE Cruzader will perfectly complement a generous quiver by offering a big plus in very special conditions which are often 80% of the days at home. So don’t miss it.
It is an incredible foil board, which can become the cornerstone of your quiver and that you take with you anywhere.
It will obviously need a very large tail foil, even giant, to get the most out of it.
A 72 HM Mast will be perfect for cool riding.
Which shape?
The concept of each board of the range can be summed up very simply:
HIPE FIRST: The perfect inflatable foil board for starting out and progressing strapless.
HIPE LEARN: The inflatable board for learning—stable on the water, ideal for first flights, and SUP foil compatible.
HIPE PERF: the inflatable board with 95% of the performance of rigid boards in an easy and scalable shape.
HIPE FREEFLY: the best strapless inflatable foil board.
HIPE STUNT: the inflatable board for surfing/freestyle scoring.
HIPE LETHAL: the must-have inflatable board for wave riding.
HIPE DIAMOND: mid-length with the glide of a downwinder and the handling of a compact board.
HIPE CRUZADER: the inflatable “downwinder” for the highest performance in light wind winging and obviously in DW.
ZUMA: the easy rigid board for SUP foiling and wing foiling, and with good performance.
LANCE: the compact Zuma, with great lateral stability, ideal for beginnings in wing foiling.
CRUZADER POINT: fantastic in SUP downwinders, pumping on the flat, but also in light wind conditions for wing foiling, freefly, surfing, etc…
CRUZADER DIAMOND: compact and easy to paddle shape for downwind SUPing. In wing foiling it’s ideal for light wind conditions, surfing and downwinders.
FLINT: high performance in SUP foiling, really cool for wing foiling because it is simple, stable and efficient. All in one.
MINT: absolute efficiency and ease thanks to its glide. A first-class wing board for take offs in a versatile shape geared towards surfing and freeride.
LEMON: top-notch responsiveness and liveliness in surfing, high performance in freestyle, great stability and lots of glide.

Which foil wings?
Our V3 foil range is now divided into 3 families:
Perf Series for progression.
Team Series for performance.
Team Pro for competition.
For beginners:
In the Perf Series V3 range, our X-Over: the first wings that are super easy and efficient at low speeds:
- M for 50kg -> 65kg and all wind conditions.
- L for 65kg -> 75kg and all wind conditions.
- XL for 75kg -> 85kg and all wind conditions.
- XXL for 85kg and above or wind under 15 knots.
The Ascent foil: versatile and faster, for allround performance:
- S for under 65kg and all wind conditions.
- M for 65kg -> 75kg and all wind conditions.
- L for 75kg -> 85kg and all wind conditions.
- XL for 85kg -> 95kg and all wind conditions.
- XXL for 95kg and above or wind under 15 knots.
For experienced riders:
In the Team Series V3, the H models stand out as the versions of each design, delivering insane glide across all programs. Here are our recommendations in line with the HIPE Cruzader’s program:
Curve H: Designed for carving, with a moderate + ratio and excellent control in all conditions. Ideal for freeride and waves, offering forgiveness and comfort.
Veloce H: A foil focused on glide and speed, with a high ratio for amazing glide while maintaining good rail-to-rail maneuverability. Perfect for freefly, surf, and light winds.
Veloce HDW: The downwind version of the Veloce, with an extreme ratio for sessions requiring endless glide: downwind, freefly, pumping, smooth surf, light wind… highly efficient with minimal effor
Sirus: A foil with very high lift even at low speeds, for infinite pumping and lightwind in marginal conditions. Its maneuverability in smaller sizes is perfect for small swells and slow bumps in downwind.
For pros:
In the Pro Team Series V3 range: ultimate, high-performance, and ultra-fast wings. The Ypra are simply the wings used by our Team Pro in the World Cup.
At this level, each rider will adapt their gear to their needs. It’s important to keep in mind that wingspan plays a crucial role when riding high ratios. The glide is fantastic, but be cautious not to compromise maneuverability and rail-to-rail precision by choosing larger sizes if you’re after a sharp drive. This is why even pros don’t always ride high-ratio wings!
The size of the front wing, especially its surface and volume, affects the speed/lift balance. The smaller the wing, the faster you'll be, but the less comfortable you'll be at low speeds. The larger the wing, the sooner you'll fly, but you'll face trade-offs in maneuverability and maximum speed.
General information on the choice of stab sizes:
The preferred size will depend on your foiling discipline, your level, your weight, the conditions of your spot but also your front wing.
A larger stab will make take-off easier because the foil will generate a significant torque which will tend to give it a significant angle of attack. This also implies more front foot pressure.
A smaller stab will be more technical on takeoff but will boost speed and maneuverability. We also lose some front foot pressure, which means having to move the foil forward in the boxes to regain this stability.
Always adjust the size of the stab to the size of the front wing to obtain a balanced flight and functioning harmony between these two components.
For more details, check out the article on the V3 foil range and a specific size guide for each foil on its product page. We still provide some tips below.
Which foil mast?
During your first sessions, you can reassure yourself with a short mast (65cm). Falls on the first flights will be less impressive. But apart from when launching, you will have everything to gain with a long mast (85cm and more).
More length = more headroom = easier = more efficient.
In choppy water, in transitions, in sluggish waters, a large mast will be ten times more pleasant. It will save you from touchdowns and give you the necessary height margin in all your actions.
In pure Race, of course, the must-have is the 107 cm HM mast. Absolutely magical. But the 95 cm aluminum or 92 cm HM are also fantastic.
For Freerace, a long mast is essential. It’s not more difficult and will make fast tacks easier.
In Freeride, we often seek simplicity and versatility. The 85 cm is a great choice. The 92 cm is for those who want more flexibility.
In Freestyle, we recommend 85 cm to maintain a dynamic and controllable rail-to-rail.
In Surf, we prioritize radicality and control, so the 85 cm is ideal. But in solid waves, the 92 cm will give you more room to apply huge angles without dramatically stalling at the bottom, for example.
Lastly, remember that a 1.5° rake shim under an 85 cm mast will give you the same nose-up margin as a 92 cm. It’s the ultimate hack.
To sum up, for waves, freestyle, and even for beginners and progression, an 85 cm mast (V2 or HM depending on your budget) is perfect. Easy to get into the water, simple for rail-to-rail transitions, it’s perfect.
A 92 cm mast or larger will be aimed at racing, providing more stability at high speeds in choppy conditions, but with less maneuverability.
Positioning of the foil?
For GONG foils, place the top plate in the center of the US rails to start and move it forward a few centimeters when you get into transitions (a sign of good progress).
The more you move it forward, the more the board will pitch nose-up. The more you move it backwards, the more the board nose-dives.
Be careful not to move it too far forward. We often tend not to let their back foot work, especially when we come from kite foiling. However, moving the foil back a little, forces more weight on the back foot and gives a more harmonious attitude and reduces effort.
What paddle length?
For SUP foiling with the HIPE Cruzader, choose a paddle between your height plus 10cm and your exact height.
Which accessories?
Safety is crucial in all board sports, and even more so with foiling.
Wing leash is a not an option. Without it, your wing can drift dozens of meters away in seconds, stopping only when it crashes into something—usually with damage.
A board leash is crucial, particularly when starting out. It keeps your board nearby, giving you a safety float and preventing it from hitting others. Opt for a 6’ leash with at least a 7mm diameter. Inspect it before each session and replace it yearly—it’s your lifeline.
For optimal safety, a helmet and an impact vest are absolute must-haves.
To enhance safety, we’ve created the Bodyguard textile range, designed to reduce the risk of foil cuts. While the danger is always there, it’s even more significant during the learning phase. We strongly advise taking every precaution possible.
Strapped ord strapless? 2 or 3 straps?
In wing foil, riding strapless feels cool and gives you total freedom. But honestly, performance takes a serious hit…
So, it’s up to you—do you prioritize sensation or performance? On a HIPE Cruzader, you’ll clearly miss out on a large part of its potential without straps.
Front straps give you better control and reduce the risk of the foil flipping under your feet. When starting out, they’re a crucial guide for foot positioning and will fast-track your progress.
In the waves, it’s obvious—you gain so much with straps, including the back strap. You can save crazy situations just by pulling on your feet. And when it comes to tricks: the range of moves expands drastically with straps. Every jump is possible, and the inflatable’s cushioning is great for the knees ;-)
Begin with only the front straps. You can attach the rear strap as a reference point and a handy grip, but avoid using it at first. Once you're fully comfortable flying, shift the foil back by 2cm to gradually get accustomed to the rear strap.
Good to know:
Never leave your board in the sun—especially an inflatable board, and even more so a black carbon plate, which heats up quickly. Excessive heat can cause delamination!
Be careful when screwing into the foil box. If you go too deep, you’ll pierce the inflatable shell. We supply closed US box inserts, but caution is key.
Never let your foil board get caught in breaking waves, especially near shore. A wave rolling your board can cause significant damage.
Equipments
SCS system
The composite plate is equipped with Smart Connection System (SCS) double entry boxes to easily install and adjust the foil. The double holes correspond to the stance of the holes in your GONG foil plate. Simply present the foil with the brass nuts already mounted on the plate, slide them into the rails without disassembling, tighten the 4 screws, and you're ready to go.
To facilitate foil assembly, our new US fixing brass nuts are connected by a carbon fiber rod and are included with the board. This saves time for foil assembly, and the adjustment is precise. No more risk of losing your brass nuts: you leave them screwed on the plate and slide them into the US rails using the 4 new insertion holes. There's nothing to disassemble: just tighten the screws and go!
Foil adjustment is also easier and more precise with the adjustment information engraved on the plate.
Carrying handle
The handle in the carbon plate, placed on the hull, is a real comfort enhancement for launching and carrying over short distances. And it has no impact on the rigidity and strength of our plate, which are flawless.
Full deck pad
The premium full-length 5mm pad delivers maximum grip and comfort while riding.
With its Ridge Traction grooving, borrowed from our hard boards, it delivers superior comfort, unmatched non-slip performance for maximum stability and offers firm support with the best grip and comfort during navigation.
Unlike the dropstitch surface of the board, the pad provides instant feedback—you’ll immediately feel whether your foot is correctly positioned.
Transport bag with compartments
The HIPE Cruzader comes in a super practical and durable wheeled travel bag.
Generously sized, it holds your HIPE, foil, and wing while staying within baggage limits on most airlines.
The backpack straps are thickly padded for extra comfort, while the reinforced handles are both sturdy and pleasant to grip.
Integrated compartments on the inside front panel allow for secure and organized storage of your foil parts and hardware. Plus, compression straps minimize the bag’s volume for easy transport.
Pump, hardware and repair kit
The fast double-action pump included is highly efficient, so you’ll be the first one on the water.
The board comes with all necessary screws for the straps and foil top plate.
A repair kit is also included in case of damage (please note that the kit does not include glue, but you can easily find PVC glue at your local hardware store). We also keep spare components in stock, so you can easily restore your board to like-new condition. Everything on an inflatable board is repairable!
