The 85HM carbon mast is a masterpiece of technological expertise. Glide, stiffness, lightness, and responsiveness: it’s the essential mast for foilers seeking excellence.

It allows you to unlock your full potential in high performance. Stunning accelerations, insane top speeds, instant response in carves, sharp and precise pop, and highly efficient pumping.

Its construction with High Modulus Prepreg carbon increases the fiber content in the composite. More carbon and less resin make it hyper-stiff and reactive. In addition to this material work, the application is meticulously designed and calculated. Flex and twist are perfectly controlled through optimized orientations of the carbon fiber layers. Finally, the high-density core of the internal structure is reinforced with a double 50-layer carbon stringer. This results in formidable dynamics even with thinner profiles and more fluid than structural designs.

The sleek profile minimizes drag for easier takeoffs, rapid accelerations, and higher top speeds. The 85cm length provides great versatility and tolerance in various uses. It doesn’t require much depth, allows easy carves without being overwhelmed, offers top-notch rigidity, absolute responsiveness, and very effective pumping.

With 10 years of mass-producing foils, GONG has been the world’s leading driver of this practice, delivering nearly 100,000 foils. This incredibly intense tenth year of R&D has enabled us to offer an even thinner mast in the V3 foil range. The lower sections of our HM masts now start from 14mm in thickness, while also offering options of 15mm and 16mm.

EVOLUTION OF THICKNESS

The mast section is progressive, thinner at the bottom to reduce drag in flight, and thicker at the top to maximize the mast’s stiffness.

INTEGRATED TOP PLATE AND HEEL

The top plate and heel of the HM masts are molded as a single piece with the rest of the mast. There are no connections, so there is no play and the entire structure is ultra-stiff. The mast provides the foil with extreme responsiveness and ultra-precise handling.

CONICAL FITTING

The self-tightening tapered fitting gradually settles in during the session to lock all movement. This fitting eliminates any play and offers unmatched responsiveness and effort transmission.

A more efficient foil shape

One of the key elements in the evolution of this range is the complete redesign of our foils to increase their structural and hydrodynamic qualities.

The V3 fuselage is:

The new round shape allows a 12% gain in glide and the thicker section approaching the stab increases the strength and rigidity of the foil.

Hours of calculations on extremely powerful computers have allowed us to optimize the smallest detail to maximize performance. The fillets of all our connections have been carefully studied and adjusted to minimize hydrodynamic disturbances and increase the rigidity and resistance of the assembly.

Retro fitting

The entire range, from the fuselage, to the mast, to the front wing and the stab, has been revised to radically boost the performance of our foils, without being limited by our old connection shapes.

However, this choice to change all of our parts could not be considered without continuing to offer compatibility with our old ranges.

We therefore offer a wide choice of fuselages which gives you the freedom to mix all our masts, front wings and stabs, whatever their generation.

Carbon HM

The TORAY M40J High Modulus carbon used on our Team Series range offers incredible rigidity. It is a high-end carbon that delivers high mechanical properties while remaining resistant. A carbon used in aeronautics as well as for high-end sports equipment.

Its mechanical characteristics, such as its superior tensile strength and Young's modulus, allow for exceptional performance on the water.

Your equipment is rigid, responsive, and extremely stable.

Carbon HM Mast Technology

High Module Carbon offers unparalleled rigidity, representing the pinnacle of performance in our most advanced wings and masts, which face the most demanding structural constraints.

By combining High Module with Intermediate Module, we offer the best performance at the best price.

The products have no flex, the fibers are oriented along multiple axes to lock in bending and torsion, ensuring maximum responsiveness.

Thanks to pre-impregnated fibers, we can guarantee optimal resin usage, providing perfect cohesion at the lightest possible weight.

Each layer of carbon is carefully hand-assembled around a high-density hydrophobic foam core, in a steel mold. A central stiffener is integrated to increase rigidity without compromising on lightness.

The mold is then subjected to high pressure and heated to 150°C to solidify the carbon. The foam core, seeking to expand under the heat, ensures even compression between the carbon layers, ensuring a strong and durable structure.

Durability and repairability are at the heart of our development philosophy. Our foils are tested and proven by dozens of team riders, hundreds of employees, and thousands of customers worldwide. Even in case of damage, our products can be repaired multiple times, ensuring exceptional longevity.

For those who want the best. These masts are not reserved for experts.

An intermediate rider will appreciate the advantages of these masts, which offer perfect control of the foil.

Of course, HM masts become indispensable as the rider’s performance demands increase.

For what?

The 85cm length provides great versatility and tolerance in various uses.

No need for much depth, easy carves without getting overwhelmed, absolute rigidity, and very effective pumping.

It’s the perfect size for winging: maximum versatility, top performance in freestyle and surf.

It’s also a great size for kite foiling, especially for jumping and performing maneuvers.

Excellent for surf/SUP foiling at spots where depth isn’t an issue, and especially for downwinders and tow-in to maximize margin for error.

What thickness?

You have the choice between 3 thicknesses.

The thicker the mast, the stiffer it is and the greater control it provides, particularly with larger front wings.

The thinner the mast, the faster it is, increasing top speed and acceleration, especially with smaller wings.

Here are our recommended mast thicknesses to ensure perfect stiffness of the whole setup:

The 14mm thickness is recommended for front wings up to 100 cm wingspan.
The 15mm thickness is recommended for front wings up to 120 cm wingspan.
The 16mm thickness is recommended for front wings up to 150 cm wingspan.
