GEAR: A RANGE OF HIGH ASPECT FOILS THAT CELEBRATES 10 YEARS OF R&D
In May 2014, we launched our range of Allvator foils. Since then, we have continued to innovate to move the...
The very high aspect front wing for overboosted glide and speed.
The HDW Veloce is born with downwinders.
Its aspect ratio of over 13 gives it a unique slenderness for ultimate performance.
This wing is a specialized version of the Veloce H that retains its core qualities but with a significantly increased aspect ratio: meaning an insane glide!!!
You can go really fast, with an ultra maneuverable wing capable of riding endlessly, tip breached out, without any turbulence. Wingspan is no longer an issue.
Its profile is very lifty, which allows you to use smaller sizes. Depending on your level, 200 to 500cm2 less will give you the same performance. It’s just crazy.
This is the absolute wing for downwinders. Top speed, lift, easy take off, maneuverability.
In wing foiling, it’s a performance machine for light wind conditions. You can take off with almost no wind on a 1200cm2, and it keeps accelerating while remaining maneuverable.
In surf foiling, you can break your record of connections and reconnections and re-re-reconnections. Full speed planing and turns all session long.
Its purpose is to fly, glide and accelerate with no energy loss to fly on downwinders with no limits, while remaining maneuverable to choose the best lines and maneuver over bumps with confidence.
It has a high top speed to be able to ride the fastest swells. The Veloce HDW has both a comfortable lift at lower speed and a high top speed.
It has a very maneuverable high aspect front wing, guaranteeing a fluid and unrestrained riding behavior.
The Veloce HDW has an extreme aspect ratio of 13.3 to boost its glide and deliver the widest range of lift of all our foils. The wing has a very nice lift in the low end and an incredible glide that offer great comfort in all situations.

Its straight outline brings longitudinal stability by moving the lift center forward, away from the stab’s lift center. The front to rear span has been artificially increased, which allows to reduce the stab size, thanks to a more important leverage on the lower.
The Veloce HDW is not only a higher aspect version of the Veloce H. Its profile has been specifically optimized to perform across a huge speed range, making it easier to take off and accelerate on bumps.
The pronounced camber of the profile and its volume close to the leading edge guarantee extreme glide and a high forgiveness to stall, ideal for continuously connecting waves with a very effective pumping technique.

The dihedral is moderate to provide the best compromise between maneuverability, stability and glide in downwinders, where directional responsiveness must not compromise flight stability and vice versa.

The wingtips of the Veloce HDW are elevated like winglets to ensure maximum glide and to reduce the drag induced by the wing, for an always freer glide.

The settings of the foil on your board is identical to the previous version and all the GONG foils. This balance of forces is precisely calculated to guarantee you a constant feeling, especially when you move from one FW to another in a session.

Buying guide
This wing has been specially designed for downwinder addicts.
In wing foiling, this is a wing that requires a certain experience to reach its full potential, but it is not an elitist wing because it is still fairly easy to take off.
In surf/SUP foiling, this is not a wing to begin, but to perform. You need to be familiar with take off and fast pumping before trying the Veloce HDW.
The bigger sizes lift at low speeds for easy and fast take offs in downwinders, surf foiling or SUP foiling, qualities that also make them excellent light wind wings.
The smaller sizes are dedicated to fast downwinders, perfect in wing foiling but more technical to take off in surf foil or SUP foil.
The aspect ratio of the Veloce HDW gives it little lift at low speed, but a high acceleration capacity, and therefore lift for experienced foilers ;-)
For wing foiling, all sizes can be used. The larger sizes are perfect to maximize freefly in light conditions (light wind and small waves), whereas the smaller sizes allow you to glide endlessly in medium to heavy conditions.
In Surf/ SUP foil downwinds, you should rather aim for too big than too small and not overestimate your take off capacity, especially offshore. Rather fly slowly than exhaust yourself on take off and pumping with small foil surfaces.
Some generalities on the choice of front wing sizes:
The preferred size will depend on your foiling discipline, your level, your weight, the conditions of your spot but also your board and your wing.
When pumping, you want as much surface as possible to be able to get going without the help of a wave or wind. By improving your technique and gaining more speed, you can reduce the surface area you need.
In surf/SUP foiling, the perfect surface area would be small enough to turn with ease but large enough to take off and pump comfortably.
In wing foiling, all sizes work. The heavier the rider and/or the lighter the wind, the larger the size. Conversely, riders who are lighter and comfortable with takeoff can look for smaller sizes.
When kite foiling, you want to avoid wingspans of more than 80 cm because the counter-heel is significant and the tips will easily breach the surface. Favor lower aspect ratio front wings to start because they provide a lot of lift for a limited wingspan.

We recommend pairing a Curve H stab with your Curve H front wing, as these two components are designed for the same program and optimized to work in perfect harmony.
General information on the choice of stab sizes:
The preferred size will depend on your foiling discipline, your level, your weight, the conditions of your spot but also your front wing.
A larger stab will make take-off easier because the foil will generate a significant torque which will tend to give it a significant angle of attack. This also implies more front foot pressure.
A smaller stab will be more technical on takeoff but will boost speed and maneuverability. We also lose some front foot pressure, which means having to move the foil forward in the boxes to regain this stability.
Always adjust the size of the stab to the size of the front wing to obtain a balanced flight and functioning harmony between these two components.

Each of these high-performance foils have their strong points on which development has been particularly focused:
The Curve H is a combo of responsiveness and lift.
It’s the queen for carving and low end conditions (which does not mean it can’t handle speed, on the contrary!). It is also the most comfortable foil for pumping, which allows you to make numerous connections when surf foiling without burning your thighs.
The Fluid H is a combo of responsiveness and speed.
Perfect for turning very short, going fast, glide and enjoying a very dynamic drive. Add to that a very powerful pop and you understand why this foil will go wherever you want, in the water or in the air!
The Veloce H is a combo of glide and versatility.
It is a freefly and downwind machine. It’s the foil to glide and connect bumps endlessly with incomparable fluidity. Accelerations on the wave are stunning and it has a very low stall speed which facilitates flight in all circumstances.
The Veloce HDW: 100% glide.
To be even more focused on infinite glide, the Veloce HDW. The queen in downwinders.
