The ultimate board for winging in ultra light wind conditions and downwinders, with the advantages of our high performance inflatable technology: compact and handy for trips.

Presentation

The HIPE Cruzader strapped is our inflatable board for light wind conditions. Extreme in its performance, extreme in its innovative shape in inflatable technology, and extreme in the uses it allows.

Very narrow, relatively long, this board is a rocket ship when it comes to taking off in wing foiling or with a paddle. On this board you’re positioned in the center, which means you have the same length in front of your feet on a 6’6 Cruzader as you have on a 5’0. You never have the feeling of a longer board because a great part of the length of the board is in your back.

As soon as you pump, the tail propels the board forward and activates the lift of the foil. You can fly with less than 6 knots!!! With a 5m2 wing too… no need to overpower with cumbersome wings. It’s revolutionary.

Our experience of inflatable boards allows us to offer you an ultra-specialized inflatable board with an innovative shape that will revolutionize how you spend time on the water. The specific plate of the Cruzader HIPE can perfectly accept our giant front wings.

The ultimate combo for taking off super early. The new smaller sizes and the wing foil dedicated footstrap inserts are clearly oriented towards performance in light wind winging, while retaining the advantages of the inflatable technology.

Setting a new world record for early take-off is a challenge up your alley with this new board! 6 knots is all you need with our giant foils, even less for the pros. Obviously it is an ultra specific use, but what a treat! Surfing glassy waves, cruising full speed in 8 knots… And as soon as the wind picks up, you have an incredibly smooth board. This ability to fly below 10/12 knots will change your schedule and your view of the sport. It’s simply stunning!

Downwinders are its thing, connecting bump after bump, optimizing the lines for non-stop accelerations. Its long tail and the centered boxes greatly facilitate take offs. With its voluminous nose, you have the stability you need to press firmly on the front and row like there’s no tomorrow. The board is incredibly efficient. Be careful, a downwinder should always be seriously prepared and even more so on an inflatable board as it can deflate at any time. So never do them at more than 300m from the coast or without serious assistance.

In surfing, it gets going earlier than any board for a ride that is as cool as it is majestic. With our giant front wings, you can even take off while paddling out at sea! A mind-blowing feat that will totally change your perception of the spot. No more useless conditions with tiny swells or waves breaking too close to the beach to take off.

With the Cruzader you can take off on nothing and then our giant wings make you glide on close to invisible swell lines. In wing foiling it is simply stunning. Obviously we prefer it in the smallest size but it allows you to break world records in early take-offs. 6 knots is all you need with our giant foils, and it can be even less for the pros. It is intended for an ultra specific use, but what a treat! Surfing glassy waves, cruising full speed in 8 knots… And as soon as the wind picks up, we have an incredibly smooth board. Being able to fly on wing foil gear below 10/12 knots will fill your free time and your view of the sport.

Another huge advantage of the Cruzader: you can undersize the foil. In wing foiling you can put a foil that you would usually have trouble getting going with. In three pumping strokes on the board you fly and then you have all the advantages of a mini foil. Great for racing or fast cruising. But it is also valid in surfing where you can choose to maximize the maneuverability and simply paddle quietly back to the peak when pumping in the air becomes tiring.

Keep in mind that for a more versatile practice, you should opt for the most voluminous boards of the range, unless you are an expert in SUP foiling.

Having this board in the quiver is almost essential because you can do the downwinders of your life, surf incredibly tiny bumps, sail in wing foiling with close to zero wind! And take it with you on your trips without any constraints.

GONG | Wingboard HIPE Cruzader Strapped
Shape
In a nushell
  • Rocker: relatively low for glide but important on the high lines of the shape.
  • Deck: flat for a perfect connection with the foil.
  • Bottom: Vee at the tail, flat at the boxes and light double concave at the nose.
  • Rails: beveled but very full and almost totally vertical.
  • Volume: generous not to have an excessive length
  • Outline: very narrow and very elongated for maximum glide.
  • Tail: rounded point tail.
  • Nose: rounded point nose.
Hipe Cruzader Strapped in details

With its width reduced to a minimum, you are on the most ultimate inflatable board for glide.

The 6” drop stitch allows for substantial volume over a narrow width. The board glides over the water like a SUP race board: ideal for popping early and for restarting in the bumps.

Its extremely narrow outline boosts its preflight speed and take-off. It’s crucial. Once in the air, you enjoy a unique ability to go for almost every angle in the curves without ever touching the water, even if it is rather marginal for the cool use it is intended for. But it is a really beautiful outline to see.

Its slender tail seems to generate no drag. It’s amazing when you see the board pass by. And as soon as we want to take off; this volume in length lifts the board and accelerates the flight.

The rounded point nose keeps the liveliness of a fine nose but brings the little touch of additional comfort that we are very happy to have sometimes.

Finally, the rocker is as flat as possible because we want to fly. Besides, once in the air the rocker is not fundamental. Having a lot of rocker would slow the takeoff, and that’s really not the point. Remember that the objective is to have fun in the small sluggish days. That’s why this rocker makes sense.

Buying guide

For whom?

In wing foiling, you must have a decent level or a strong motivation because the HIPE Cruzader is a demanding board. Whatever your weight and your desires, the Hipe Cruz will be the queen of light wind. Satisfaction guaranteed for a level of hassle equal to zero!!!

In SUP foiling with a big foil, it’s almost easy, but paddling, and especially in the chop: it’s technical. So you must have a great level as a SUPer before considering a HIPE Cruz. Otherwise it will have to be tamed for a long time beforehand on the flat.

It is clearly the board for those who want to go to the maximum of their potential in marginal conditions.

For what?

The HIPE Cruzader strapped is a pure board for SUP downwinders and ultra light wind winging.

Once we have said that, we obviously think of traveling. The drama of a one week trip with just too little wind to fly is ancient history! If you travel with the HIPE Cruzader = you will fly no matter what!!!

And as it is narrow, it is comfortable in all performance registers, including top speed in DW because the control at high speed is fantastic.

Ideal for surfing on soft bumps, it allows you to make the most of mediocre days.

In Winging, it is the absolute tool to fly in marginal wind conditions. Ultra cool, really in tune with the most modern potential of winging, it’s the anti-frustration board par excellence. Strictly essential.

On windless flat days, it’s a fantastic toy to have fun with friends, fly with a huge foil, or to work on cardio.

What Size?

Do not rely solely on the volume of the board, this shape draws all its potential from its length which is the number one asset. A little more comfort will not be penalizing. You will probably be on a positive volume, even if the best of you are not on their usual wing board.

Here are some examples to help you make the right choice:

  • The longer the board, the sooner you get going, whether you’re winging in light winds or paddling.
  • The 6’0 and the 6’6 are aimed at the smallest of you or those who want a 100% wing foiling performance program.
  • You have an average size, or an intermediate level in wing foiling, go for the 7’0 or the 7’6.
  • You want to use it mainly as a downwind SUP foiling board, choose the 7’11, or the 7’6.
  • You want to discover the pleasures of light wind winging, and you are still in the progression phase, the 7’6 is made for you.
  • Your objective is to get into flat start paddling, choose the 7’11.
  • You are a bigger foiler, or you want comfort, choose the 7’11.

The bigger it is, the easier it is. It’s that simple ?

Understanding the GONG range?

The concept of each board of the range can be summed up very simply:

  • HIPE First: the perfect inflatable board to learn wing foiling!
  • HIPE Free Fly: the best of strapless on an inflatable foil board.
  • HIPE Perf: the inflatable foil board with 95% of the performance of a rigid board, in an easy and scalable shape.
  • HIPE Cruzader Strapless: the strapless inflatable board with 95% of the performance of a rigid  board with an ultra specialized shape, ideal for light wind winging and chilled out SUP foiling.
  • HIPE Cruzader strapped : the inflatable board with 95% of the performance of a rigid  board with an ultra specialized shape, for the highest performance in light wind winging.
  • HIPE Pro: the inflatable board with 95% of the performance of a rigid one with a shape dedicated to advanced foilers who want fluidity and maximum responsiveness!
  • Mob 2taste: three sports in one board: SUP, SUP foiling and wing foiling.
  • Zuma: the easy rigid board for SUP foiling and wing foiling, and with good performance.
  • Lance: the compact Zuma, with great lateral stability, ideal for beginnings in wing foiling.
  • Cruzader: fantastic in SUP downwinders, pumping on the flat, but also in light wind conditions in wing foiling.
  • Flint: high performance in SUP foiling, great in wing foiling because it is simple and efficient in light wind.
  • Kube: pure freestyle board. Minimum length for maximum rotation.
  • Mint: compact without being too technical thanks to a perfect length and its round nose. Great performance in strapless too.
  • Lemon: maximum reactivity and liveliness, while maintaining stability.
  • Lethal: Absolute radicality among volume boards

Some will go for even more extreme with low volume boards like:

Which Quiver?

The HIPE Cruzader will perfectly complement a generous quiver by offering a big plus in very special conditions which are often 80% of the days at home. So don’t miss it.

It is an incredible foil board, which can become the cornerstone of your quiver and that you take with you anywhere.

It will obviously need a very large tail foil, even giant, to get the most out of it.

A 72 HM Mast will be perfect for cool riding.

For the pros:

The Curve H, Fluid H, Veloce H, Ypra or Ypra S ranges are very high performance and fast wings: remember that the H versions offer an insane glide for each of their specific use. The Ypra wings for instance are simply the wings of our pro team on the World Tour.

In the Curve H range: wings with a crazy glide that love to draw pretty lines, with a smooth and eaaaaasy glide:

  • S for those under 75kg or heavier riders in winds above 20 knots.
  • M for those under 85kg or heavier riders in winds above 15 knots.
  • L for everyone and heavier riders in winds above 12 knots.
  • XL for everyone in light conditions and the heavier riders in winds below 20 knots.
  • XXL for everyone in very light wind and the heavier riders in winds below 12 knots.

In the Veloce H range: fast wings with a crazy glide that love curves, and still are easy at low speed:

  • S for those under 75kg or heavier riders in winds above 20 knots.
  • M for those under 85kg or heavier riders in winds above 15 knots.
  • L for everyone and heavier riders in winds above 12 knots.
  • XL for everyone in light conditions and the heavier riders in winds below 20 knots.
  • XXL for everyone in very light wind and the heavier riders in winds below 12 knots.

In the Ypra range: the racing wings par excellence intended to sail upwind and downwind, typically on a square or triangle racing course:

  • XS for those under 55kg or the heavier riders in winds above 20 knots.
  • S for those under 65kg or the heavier riders in winds above 20 knots.
  • M for those under 75kg or the heavier riders in winds above 15 knots.
  • L for everyone and the heavier riders in winds above 12 knots.
  • XL for everyone in the light and the heavier riders in winds below 20 knots.

In the Ypra S range for Slalom : racing wings with maximum curves / jibes, also great for Freestyle:

  • XS for those under 55kg or the heavier riders in winds above 20 knots.
  • S for those under 65kg or the heavier riders in winds above 20 knots.
  • M for those under 75kg or the heavier riders in winds above 15 knots.
  • L for everyone and the heavier riders in winds above 12 knots.
  • XL for everyone in the light and the heavier riders in winds below 20 knots.

In the Sirus range: wings with the ultimate aspect ratio for marginal conditions:

  • L for those under 75kg in winds under 12 knots.
  • XL for those under 85kg in winds under 8/10 knots or the heavier riders in winds under 15 knots.
  • XXL for those under 95kg in winds under 6/8 knots or the bigger riders in winds less than 12 knots.
  • 3XL for everyone in the very light wind and the bigger riders in winds under 10 knots.

At this level, everyone can adapt their equipment to their needs. Just remember that the wingspan is a point to take into consideration when riding high aspect ratios. The glide is fabulous, but be careful not to sacrifice maneuverability and rail-to-rail precision by using large sizes if you are looking for a very reactive drive. This is why even the pros do not necessarily ride in high aspect ratios!

The size of the front wing and in particular its surface and its volume condition the speed/lift ratio. The smaller the wing, the faster you will go but the more uncomfortable you will be at low speeds. The bigger the wing, the earlier you will fly but you’ll be penalized in handling and top speed.

 Which Stab?

The stabs have a major role. They determine the stability of the foil and help with its lift, but to the detriment of the maximum speed of the foil and its maneuverability if they are too large. The role of the stabilizer is to stabilize the foil but also to compensate for the natural tendency of the front wing to dive. So you must have a good balance of surfaces between your stab and your front wing. A 38 cm stab with an XXL wing will give a catastrophic result at high speed: the foil will dive at high speed because the stab will no longer be able to lift enough to counteract the nosediving torque of the front wing.

Remember that the stab must be proportional to the front wing. This is why we have named them S M L XL like the front wings so that you can pair them easily. Creating an imbalance brings no benefit except the illusion of better glide.

Thus the X-Over stabs are slower than the Fluid or Veloce stabs, but are much more lifty, and therefore effective at low speed or with a large front wing (for beginners for example). The Curve stab is at the border of these two worlds and the Freestyle stab is 100% dedicated to radical moves.

In the X-Overrange: super easy and effective stabs from low speeds to progress smoothly:

  • L 44 for those under 75kg and for everyone in winds above 15 knots.
  • XL 48 for those over 75kg and for everyone in winds below 20 knots.

In the Curve range: very simple stabs that love beautiful curves, with a stable and smooth glide:

  • S 36 for those under 65kg and for everyone in winds over 25 knots.
  • M 39 for those under 75kg and for everyone in winds over 20 knots.
  • L 43 for those under 85kg and for everyone in winds above 15 knots.
  • XL 46 for those over 95kg and for everyone in winds of less than 20 knots.

In the Fluid H range: stabs with a crazy glide for a radical drive but easy and relatively fast:

  • S 38 for those under 65kg and for everyone in winds over 25 knots.
  • M 42 for those under 75kg and for everyone in winds above 18 knots.
  • L 45 for those under 85kg and for everyone in winds above 12 knots.
  • XL 47 for those over 95kg and for everyone in winds below 20 knots.
  • XXL 49 for everyone in very light winds and bigger people in winds below 12 knots.

In the Veloce H range: the fast stabs dedicated to high speeds which are off your mind when riding:

  • S 36 for those under 65kg and for everyone in winds over 25 knots.
  • M 40 for those under 75kg and for everyone in winds above 20 knots.
  • L 44 for those under 85kg and for everyone in winds above 15 knots.
  • XL 47 for those over 95kg and for everyone in winds below 20 knots.

In theFreestyle range: stabs totally dedicated to tricks with a psycho pop and tight curves:

  • S 39 for those under 65kg and for everyone in winds over 25 knots.
  • M 41 for those under 75kg and for everyone in winds over 20 knots.
  • L 44 for those under 85kg and for everyone in winds above 15 knots.
  • XL 46 for those over 95kg and for everyone in winds of less than 20 knots.

Which foil mast?

The larger the wings of your foil are, the more rigidity you will need. Note that the pumping phase is where this need is most felt, namely in SUP foiling. The rigidity of the mast will clearly have a very significant impact on your performance. So for a front wing of a size XL or more, use an HM mast.

In SUP foiling:

The Allvator V2 aluminum 65cm is perfect. If you are a pro, switch to the carbon mast HM 70cm: masterful. If you use a Sirus front wing or a Curve / Fluid in very large sizes, switch to the HM 72cm or 79cm mast to get 100% of the performance from these giant wings.

In wing foiling:

The best sizes for winging range from 85 cm to 100 cm. Find all our advice on choosing the size that suits you best by clicking here.

In summary, for waves and freestyle, but also for beginners and progressing, an 85 mast is ideal. Simple to put in the water, easy to switch from one rail to another, it’s perfect.

A rigid mast will give you more precision and better sensations, very effective pumping, especially with large wings.

What type of paddle?

When using a paddle in SUP foiling, downwinders or flat starts you have to deal with new constraints. The efforts generated in these disciplines are shorter, but also much more intense as you need to be explosive to get going with the little energy of a bump (or no energy at all).

When SUP foiling, whatever SUP background you’re coming from, the efforts are more intense than what you have experienced so far. It is therefore essential to have equipment capable of withstanding these mechanical stresses. These new sports require suitable equipment, because there is a real risk of breakage using an inappropriate paddle.

With our ultimate SUP foiling boards, the Cruzader and HIPE Cruzader, choosing a fixed paddle is a must. It will diffuse the energy generated over the entire length of the shaft, rather than concentrating it on the junctions of an adjustable paddle or dismountable paddle.

You will therefore be able to give 100% without being afraid of the constraints applied during your take-offs.

For this, we recommend the Pro Carbon Paddle, our top-of-the-range paddle which, thanks to its dynamic qualities and its versatile shape, works as well in SUP foiling as in Race. Its high power and incredible performance allow the board to accelerate with each impulse. Its entries and exits from the water are fluid and allow high speeds to be reached and the foil to take off quickly.

What paddle length and blade?

For the Cruzader, you need a paddle between your height and your height +10cm. If flat starts are your objective, you will need a powerful paddle, so at least an 8 Pro paddle for SUP foilers of light/medium builds, or a 9 Pro paddle for tall builds. A small blade will not give you the power you need to reach the right takeoff speed, unless you have a very light build and are very fit.

To sum up:

The Carbon Pro 7” paddle
For surfing: perfect size for light riders (-75 kg) or to increase the pace of paddling.
For downwinders: size suitable for light riders (-75 kg) who are used to paddling at a pace of SUP Racing.
For flat starts: size adapted for light riders (-65 kg).

The Carbon Pro 8” paddle
For surfing: size adapted for riders between 75kg and 90kg, who want more power at the take off and support in the wave.
For downwinders: size suitable for riders between 75kg and 90kg, who want more catch to get going on the slightest bump.
For flat starts: size adapted for riders between 70kg and 90kg, looking for performance and who want to improve cardio.

The Carbon Pro 9” paddle
For surfing: size reserved for big riders, over 90kg, powerful and technical, to have an explosive take off.
For downwinders: size reserved for large builds, over 90kg, powerful and technical, who know how to maintain their flights without using their paddles.
For flat starts: size adapted to riders over 85 kg looking for the best performance in terms of power and efficiency.

Positioning of the foil?

For GONG foils, place the plate in the rear third when you start and in the center of the US rails when you progress. The Pros can position the foil even further towards the front for more lift and maneuverability.

The more you move it forward, the more the board will pitch nose-up. The more you move it backwards, the more the board nose-dives.

Be careful not to move it too far forward. We often tend not to let their back foot work, especially when we come from kite foiling. However, moving the foil back a little, forces more weight on the back foot and gives a more harmonious attitude and reduces effortWhich leash?

Which leash?

Take an 8’ leash with a minimum diameter of 7mm, ideally a belt leash, with a coiled or straight rope.

Check its condition before each session and change it every year. It is your lifejacket and the life insurance of the people in front of you.

Equipments

For 2023 we are integrating our SCS system launched on the HIPE on all our foil boards. It’s beautiful, efficient and above all it saves time on the water. With its 4 entries, the GONG double entry box facilitates the assembly and adjustment of the foil. Performance without the hassle. We leave the nuts and the screws on the plate, we insert and screw and let’s go! Setting up the foil is much faster and easier. It is the plug and play solution which facilitates adjustments! (inserts not supplied with the board).

The HIPE Cruzader is equipped with a new carbon ICS plate, longer than the plates developed for the HIPE Perf or Pro. Adapted to the ultra-specific outline of the HIPE Cruzader and optimized for its use, this plate provides even more rigidity and more adjustment range for the foil.

The carbon plate is glued at high pressure to the hull of the inflatable structure. A large reinforcement is positioned under the plate, and a second completely covers the ICS Pro plate up to the rails for maximum rigidity and durability.

This piece, made up of dozens of high-end prepreg carbon layers pressed at high temperatures and two foam stringers, is a jewel of composite know-how. Its new design offers optimal rigidity with its vertical facets that block flex and channel water.

The tail and nose of the Cruzader plate have been designed to maximize flow.

We were the first to create a HIPE and we are always pushing the possibilities of inflatables further with this new plate shape. The investment is substantial but it seemed essential to us to respect the specifications that we had imposed on ourselves on the HIPE Cruzader.

The new 5 mm Traction Velvel Pad is particularly designed to be even more comfortable. Very aesthetic, it offers a perfect grip and a velvet touch! The feeling is ultra soft and you can feel the board perfectly under your feet. The board is all the more responsive. Long surfing sessions without tiring or slipping are all yours! The position of the pad on the board is optimized for surfing, with a real rear tail pad with kicker to place your foot well in the curves.

The set of footstraps is offered with the board. For 2023 we have reviewed the outline of our straps to further improve comfort. Developed for wing foiling, these straps with less cover do not bend when put on. More rigid, they offer a more precise steering but are still as comfortable. There is less surface area on the feet so there is less risk of staying stuck in the straps or banging your foot on the edge of the strap when rushing into it. It also allows better leeward control (tip of the foot) and therefore a more natural attitude in wing foiling.
We have worked on every detail to improve your experience on the water.

The V-shaped footstraps perfectly center the foot on the front of the board. The position is thus more natural and allows direct and precise control in maneuvers.

Delivery

Delivery delay

We indicate a preparation and shipping time of 3 working days. In reality, the majority of orders are shipped within 24/48 hours.

The delivery time, i.e. delivery time of the package to your home, then depends on the delivery location and the carrier.

We work with reliable and efficient carriers. 99% of shipments go perfectly and quickly. In the case of the remaining 1%, rest assured that we will do what is necessary with the carrier.

Shipping fees

Unlike other sites, shipping costs are not hidden behind the price of our products. You know exactly what shipping costs you, and you are not disadvantaged if you choose to collect your order at our GONG Space Center.

Shipping costs are calculated based on the weight and volume of each package, and your delivery address.

Tracking your package

Delivery tracking is managed directly by the carriers to whom we have entrusted your packages. They will contact you by email or SMS to allow you to choose delivery methods and follow the route of your package.

Carriers

We work with the best transport societies to deliver to you throughout Europe and the world within very short deadlines. We chose them for their quality of service and their compliance with deadlines.

For mainland France, 80% of your orders arrive at their destination in less than 48 hours of processing.

For Europe, delivery times vary from 3 to 6 working days, depending on the country of destination.

For the rest of the world, delivery times depend on transit time and customs clearance time. This delay depends on customs and can last from a few days to a few weeks depending on the destination and seasonality.

Please note, transport time is added to preparation/shipping time. Two companies collaborate on your order (GONG and the carrier). Each one masters its activity and is committed to optimizing its deadlines so that you are delivered as quickly as possible and at a reasonable price.

Eco-responsible packaging

Preserving the environment is an absolute priority. This is why we do everything possible to reduce our ecological footprint.

The most important thing is to sell quality, durable products that will be repairable and will please you for a long time.

For our shipments, we use:

  • Scotch craft paper.

  • Final packaging in high-end cardboard.

  • For rigid boards: Flexi-Hex, very high resistance ecological packaging.

This means:

  • Reusable and recyclable packaging.

  • An almost total reduction in single-use plastic.

  • Maximum protection and impact resistance for rigid boards thanks to the innovative Flexi-Hex honeycomb design (35mm thick).

Receipt of your product

Upon delivery, check the condition of your package in the presence of the carrier. A complete explanation email on the procedure to follow will be sent to you when your order is shipped.

Despite our requirements and all the care we take in the packaging and protection of your product, transport hazards may occur, and your product may suffer more or less significant transport damage.

Note that the products are protected in their carton. If you have any doubts, simply refuse delivery and contact us.

Know everything about the GONG FOIL BOARD HIPE CRUZADER STRAPPED

Warning

When you practice foil you expose yourself to possible serious risks. A poor mastering of a foil can expose you to cuts and/or serious bodily harm, even death for yourself and possibly others around you.

Foiling should be practiced, in all circumstances, by taking precautions and taking into consideration all that is involved and associated with surf/SUP sports. Remember that a foil is long and has an edge that could cause slicing and is capable of reaching very high speeds. Getting hit by a foil, or hitting another, can have dramatic and highly unwanted consequences.

Always foil far from others, and in waters that are secure and without obstacle.

Always wear a helmet andprotective vest that assures floatability. Always wear a full body neoprene wetsuit.

When handling and manipulating a foil be careful not to cut yourself along its edges.

GONG does not accept and declines any and all responsibility in case of accident that implicates a GONG foil. The practicing of this sport and the use of our equipment makes the user fully responsable for his/her actions while being a foil user.
