The Unik is our lightweight single-strut kite for foiling and all riding styles that aren’t too overpowered.
Présentation
Lightweight with its single-strut design, this kite is aimed at all skill levels for all types of riding.
Single-strut yes, boring no! This is a highly maneuverable kite with which you can pull off top-class loops. It is precise on the bar, delivers strong lift in jumps, making it anything but dull. It is by no means limited to underpowered sessions. It’s a light kite you can push hard when you want to.
Ideal in light wind, whether on a foil, a surfboard, or a twin tip, it combines superb in-air stability with all the power you need to make the most of the lower wind range.
It’s a delight to ride in underpowered conditions—refined, precise, light, and agile, yet with enough torque and speed to have a great time.
Focused on the lower wind range, it belongs to the large family with an inflatable strut, meaning it is very simple to use. Reassuring and safe, it is also very comfortable in waves, where it will be formidable in underpowered sessions, letting you focus on surfing.
For foiling, it’s a perfect, flawless kite. Stable in 6 knots, quick enough to match the foil’s rhythm, it lets you chain together speed runs, jumps, and tricks with absolute serenity and comfort.
Whether you’re progressing or already at the top level, this kite is magical in its simplicity and “purity.”
UPE Aramid revolution
A major development of the Team Series range lies in the revolutionary material of its inflatable structure.
UPE Aramid is the lightest and stiffest material on the market on selected axes. Depending on the angulation of the Aramid mesh, we control the stretching axes and release the rotation axes. This means that we have the possibility of reducing the diameters, and therefore the drag and the weight, for the same behavior. Of course our research focused on an optimal and diffused reduction to preserve the twisting qualities, which are essential to the design of a maneuverable kite, while locking the C of the shape.
The sensations in the hands are simply astonishing. The kite is both one of the stiffest and one of the lightest, while remaining incredibly maneuverable: a whole new experience of flight and precision/feeling. It’s simply incredible and perfectly in line with our desire to offer the best.
At 85g/m2 (2 times less than Dacron!), this UPE Aramid present on the leading edge and the struts ensures an unparalleled gain in reactivity.
In addition to its exceptional mechanical properties, this material also has a very low absorption rate. The kite gains very little weight when wet.And this material is also very resistant to tearing, an important point when launching on some sketchy spots.
Obviously, a superb material without perfect assembly is worthless, and we have worked in infinite detail to ensure the reliability of the technical solutions for its implementation. For this, we have tested all known assemblies on traction machines and innovated with new and exclusive assembly methods at GONG to surpass the standards. Our kites have never been so robust.
Better than gold !!!
Durable and super light construction
This kite is built with the best materials available for a high-end kite, thanks to Aramid.
Our decades of experience in kiting, along with all the advancements made in wings, have allowed us to push the performance of our kites to an unprecedented level.
Aramid, combined with lab-tested stitching, offers the best in responsiveness, lightness, and material strength for the leading edge.
The unique feature of Aramid is that it doesn’t lock the shape of the kite. It’s ultra-light, with minimal stretch, but still allows for twist control by programming the fiber axis. This way, we get all the benefits of the best material without the downsides. The kite is lively, reactive, and does not delaminate.
The proven triple ripstop canopy, used for several years, offers perfect durability and strength at an ultra-light weight of 55g/m².
Strategically placed reinforcements ensure the durability of your gear:
- Insigna on the leading edge in high-friction areas.
- Tips reinforced with Dacron DP175LL and Nylon 1680D on the final sections of the leading edge.
- Trailing edge made of Dacron DP175LL to resist long-term flapping.

Our kites are manufactured in one of the two best factories in the world, renowned for its exceptional and consistent quality level in the high-end kite industry.
Each step, from precise digital cutting to meticulous manual assembly, is carried out by the best specialized craftsmen.
By choosing a GONG kite, you benefit from exceptional technological quality, meticulous construction, and a rigorous selection of the best materials available on the market. Every technical detail is designed to ensure high-level performance, maximum durability, and maximum enjoyment on the water.
List of our proven materials:
- Leading edge and battens in ultra-light, dynamic, and durable Aramid.
- Anti-flap trailing edge belt in Dacron DP175LL.
- High-end triple Ripstop canopy, anti-tear propagation.
- Insigna reinforcements on the leading edge.
- Tips saver in Nylon 1680D to resist wear from land friction.
- Thin bridles in Dyneema FL14 ROBLINE.
- 100% removable bridles for easy replacement of wear parts.
- One Pump system for quick inflation and deflation.
- Micro fiberglass battens on the trailing edge tips: lightweight and effective against wear.
On the water, this Aramid + light canopy + thin bridle combo results in a kite that is noticeably more reactive than a Dacron construction, with less inertia in its movements, reduced deformation in gusts, and a much cleaner bar feedback. You can feel the structure working efficiently: the kite stays locked in and precise, even when heavily powered, without collapsing or softening over the course of your sessions.
Technical sheet
Kite Unik Aramid Team Series - Aramid 16 m² / Sky blue Occasion 11742 Aramid / 16 m² / Sky blue
Fiche technique :
3 points d’attaches des arrières pour doser la réactivité et la présence en barre selon le feeling de chacun. ;

What size?
Powerful and single-strut, it is of course a kite designed for light-wind riding. Far from being a limitation, it is actually a pleasure to fly a reassuring and easy-to-handle kite.
Bar size:
The choice of your bar size will have a direct impact on the overall feel of your kite. Remember that the longer your bar, the easier it will be to turn your kite. This detail is important when using larger kites, especially in very light wind, to maintain good responsiveness. The greater lever arm compensates for this natural loss of responsiveness.
Conversely, the smaller the kite, the faster it will turn! So, using a smaller bar allows you to balance behavior and soften the kite’s reactions. You must therefore take these parameters into account when choosing your bar size and adapt the handling to the feel you like and the conditions encountered.
If you’re looking for smooth, progressive handling, you should “undersize” your bar.
If you prefer fast, reactive handling, choose a larger bar.
The key size is the 52 cm bar. This is the most versatile bar, and the one to choose if you only want one bar for a quiver 7-9-12 or 8-11 or even 8-10-13.
When equipped with an extended kite quiver, the best is also to have a quiver of bars to keep a balanced feel when switching from a small kite to a larger one. Also note that having two bars cuts parts wear in half!
Here are our recommendations:
The above recommendations are based on the behavior of GONG kite wings. Since our bars are compatible with many kites, you can adapt the choice depending on the type of kite used.
Line length:
Your Feel-X bar comes standard with 80 cm pre-lines, 19 m lines, and 3 m extensions already mounted.
The standard setup is the most versatile and will be your best choice for 90% of your sessions. By adjusting its lengths, or even changing them with our extensions (sold separately), you boost its versatility even more!
22 m lines: The “standard” length offers a more progressive and predictable bar feel (recommended setting for progressing kiters). Your wind window will be larger, thus offering more power at the start. This is the setting to favor in low and medium wind, and for everyday freeride use.
19 m lines: Short lines offer a more direct response from the kite, which increases its reactivity. The wind window will be shorter. This is the perfect setting for advanced kiters, excellent in waves or foiling for more liveliness.
If you choose to ride with short lines, you will also gain comfort in high wind.
Note that 22 m and 19 m are not extreme line lengths and remain a fine-tuning adjustment to your handling feel.
