GEAR: 2026 GONG KITE: FURTHER, HIGHER, STRONGER!
More than an evolution, it’s a catapult. The 2026 GONG range blows everything wide open: progression, freeride, freestyle, extreme big...
The Elips is our ultimate kite for waves and strapless riding.
The Elips is our high-performance wave kite for committed surfing , strapless tricks and enjoying a lively and light kite in kitefoil.
This surf kite paradoxically draws its DNA from our big air developments: we have taken the best of what is in terms of tension, surface centering, arc opening, rotation on the wingtip and profile stability, but in a 100% wave program.
The Elips 2026 gains significantly in natural glide: a more open arc, a higher aspect ratio, a shorter chord, and a more centered surface area. The result: a kite that flies cleanly in very light winds, easily generates pull in low wind conditions, and positions itself exactly where you want it in the wind window.
Particularly stable, torquey, and compact, it has impressive rotational potential. It's perfectly controllable, allowing you to have the ideal amount of power at the precise moment of your surfing move.
When you shock it, it drifts cleanly : the wing lands in the air, slides downwind while maintaining its stability, while you link maneuvers without having to constantly look at it.
Powerful, it allows you to ride smaller, more responsive surfaces . Very maneuverable and predictable, the Elips is the benchmark kite for top-level surfers like Airton, Malo, Serena, and Clémence, but also for anyone who wants a modern, precise, forgiving, and incredibly enjoyable wave kite.
We've extracted the best features of a wave kite and a loop kite to design the Elips: the ultimate wave kite. Capable of being completely unobtrusive, as well as pushing a turn to the extreme , it's always in the right place at the right time to shred.
Developed and validated by the Team, it is the kite that was vice world champion in the waves.
Its 3-strut design offers the best compromise between rigidity and lightness, resulting in exceptional versatility. The three struts provide excellent responsiveness while maintaining profile stability for control. These qualities enhance its wind range and performance. The result is a responsive and lightweight kite that performs flawlessly in maneuvers. This is a significant advantage in waves, and the larger sizes also maintain their agility.
This balance of stability and lightness promotes the kite's overall equilibrium in all its uses, which is essential for progression. It's the kind of kite that will forgive mistakes and encourage you to try new things.
3 battens is also the best design for traveling with a kite that does everything and remains light as checked baggage.

The Elips is a modern and dynamic hybrid C shape.
The enhanced projection and more open arc offer a very effective mix of tension, precision and glide.
The turning radius remains small: the kite is precise, responsive, with direct feedback. This balance between responsiveness and profile stability allows for very accurate settings, extremely clean bar feedback, and effortless micrometric control.

The new, smaller diameter bridles minimize drag while maintaining impeccable mechanical characteristics. The kite is noticeably more streamlined in flight.
Your Elips adapts to your feel thanks to the adjustments on the rear and front components:
The new short bridle system improves feedback and the feel is much more direct. Combined with a pulley-free system, this results in a precise and fast kite.

Tips play a major role in the behavior of the Elips.
Square tips, more open, with a neutral but high basic twist in bar actions: hyper-sharp rotation on the wingtip, speed preserved throughout the turn.
You can rotate the kite on the spot, quickly move it out of the window or let it drift depending on the situation.
This kite offers very wide possibilities for everything related to aggressive surfing and strapless riding.

The new 5.0 ratio of the Elips remains in an “intermediate” zone perfectly suited to waves: high enough to offer more glide and upwind performance, but compact enough to maintain a very healthy feel.
In the low range, the Elips is amazing: it generates power from low speeds, you feel that you are well supported by the air.
This power availability, combined with the bridle which allows for instant depowering, gives remarkable control in all wave configurations (on shore, side, gusty spots, windless areas).

The highly curved leading edge makes it easy to rotate the kite on the water, positioning it on one wingtip for easy relaunch. This ability is essential to quickly get going again in the waves, for example.
The Elips also takes off easily in reverse by pulling hard on both back lines: essential to avoid trouble in waves.
Technical sheet
- towards the outside of the kite for more available power, less bar presence, a slightly wider turning radius and more stability for freestyle.
- towards the inside for a less powerful kite in the front lines/harness which turns faster and more depower.
- Central adjustment for perfect versatility.
Buying guide
Queen of waves for committed surfers, the Elips will appeal to all those who love strong turns, fast sections and strapless surfing, while remaining accessible for an already autonomous kitesurfer who wants to progress seriously in waves.
The Elips is a kite that turns quickly and drifts very well.
With a rotation radius that can be closed at will, unparalleled stability, huge depower and real glide, it excels in surfing.
Quite powerful, it's a kite that's mostly ridden in the low end to promote maneuverability and drifting, but it remains very stable in the high end.
With the Elips, you typically choose the smallest effective size, hop on your surfboard, and enjoy a compact, lively, and precise kite.
It will also be very pleasant for strapless freestyle and kite foiling if you like to ride with an ultra-maneuverable kite.

The Elips has a very stable and easy-to-control high end. But it's a kite that's best ridden in the low end, relying on its torque. Indeed, its low-end power and maneuverability work wonders in the lower end of the wind range.
Choose your kite by following our recommendations below. Wind ranges always depend on your weight, skill level, and the board under your feet!

The length of your bar will directly impact the overall feel of your kite. Remember that the longer your bar, the easier it will be to turn your kite. This is especially important when using larger kites, particularly in very light winds, to maintain good responsiveness. The increased leverage compensates for this natural loss of responsiveness.
Keep in mind that, conversely, the smaller the kite, the faster it will turn! Therefore, using a smaller bar allows you to balance the kite's behavior and make it more responsive. You must take these parameters into account when choosing your bar size and adapt your riding style to your preferred feel and the conditions you encounter.
The key size is the 52cm bar. This is the most versatile bar and the one to choose if you only want one bar for a 7-9-12, 8-11, or 8-10-13 quiver.
When you have an extensive kite quiver, it's essential to also have a quiver of bars to maintain a balanced feel when switching from a small kite to a larger one. Also note that having two bars reduces wear and tear on the parts by half!
Here are our recommendations:
Recommendations above are based on the behavior of GONG kites. Since our bars are compatible with a wide range of kites, you can adapt your choice according to the type of kite you use.
Your FeelX bar comes standard with 80cm pre-lines, 19m of lines and 3m extensions already mounted.
The original setup is the most versatile and will be your best choice for 90% of your sessions.
By playing with its lengths, or even modifying them using our extensions (sold separately), you further boost its versatility!
The "standard" bar length allows for a more progressive and predictable feel (recommended setting for progressing kiters). Your wind window will be larger, thus providing more power at takeoff. This is the preferred setting for low and mid-range conditions, and for everyday freeride use.
Shorter lines offer a more direct kite response, increasing its responsiveness. The wind window will be shorter. This is the perfect setup for advanced kiters, ideal for wave riding or foiling, for added agility.
If you choose to sail with short lines, you will also gain comfort in high range.
Note that 22m and 19m are not extreme line lengths and remain a fine adjustment to your piloting feel.

Equipments
All our kites are obviously compatible with our FeelX bar, but also with 95% of bars on the market. If you're unsure, get a complete set (x4) of pigtails .

The Elips is a very maneuverable yet accessible kite thanks to its moderate aspect ratio. It allows for the most technical maneuvers, but without necessarily requiring advanced piloting skills. To reach its peak performance, you obviously need to be a top pilot. But it's not exclusive.
It's a kite that can do everything. With its shape inherited from that of the Ayto in big air, the Elips has that fiery side that we need in other programs such as twin tip for example, or to send moves in kitefoil.
It's particularly round; you flip it over in a second and it takes off again. It's really the easiest one with the Display.
And its leading edge section is sufficient to recover after being tossed around in a wave. Ready to relaunch!
In our comprehensive range, we have various "wave" kites. Depending on your conditions and skill level, you should choose one model over another.
The recommended pressure is indicated in the table below:

Several factors must be taken into account:
The Elips is a pro kite designed for waves. Its pulley-free bridle gives it a hyper-responsive and direct feel, ideal for surfing.
We opted for a short bridle without pulleys. This type of bridle is both the lightest and the strongest. It reduces drag for an even more responsive kite. And it makes relaunching easier by minimizing the risk of jamming.
The Elips was developed to work with the FeelX bar. Our bar has 4 lines of the same length and a low V at the front.
The attachments for the lines at the bridle level are:
To increase the lifespan of your equipment, how you use it and its regular maintenance will be very important.
A key point when using your kite: do not leave it inflated for long periods of time without use! The flapping of the fabric in the wind can cause premature wear of the materials, as can prolonged exposure to UV rays.
Frequent rinsing of your kite under running water is also discouraged. The chlorine in tap water can damage the surface treatments of your kite. Instead, you should store your kite dry and remove any excess sand.
Always rinse your tiller with clean water to remove sand and salt. Remember to also open the safety release to rinse the inside. Let it dry before reassembling it.
If the slat or leading edge is punctured, use your repair kit, or consult our spare parts to order the replacement part.
Regularly inspect the condition of your kite. Look for any holes or cuts and have them repaired before they get worse.
If you have damaged your kite due to misuse, you can have it repaired directly at the GONG workshop by contacting our sailmaker .
