The Ypra Surf-Freestyle V3 is the ultimate foil for sending tricks, designed to offer maximum pop and repop.
Developed for our team riders on the World Tour, it has only one goal: winning by sending one trick after another.
Its mid-aspect ratio provides incredible forgiveness. Ideal for limiting foil size, while also controlling a fierce repop.
Mid-aspect means less wingspan, which results in less breaching and much better rail-to-rail performance, one of the keys to precise and radical pop.
Its top speed is sufficient, though not the primary goal for freestyle. We are working with a mid-aspect wing that offers excellent glide and high efficiency on all angles from 0 to 28 knots.
The tips are protective, with a square face (but perfectly shaped) to limit injury risk when falling 50 times per session, and sometimes not in the best way ;-)
This wing isn't just for freestyle; it also excels in surfing, particularly in onshore conditions with shifty peaks where a radical pivot and great forgiveness at low speeds are needed. Its moderate aspect ratio allows extreme radicality in turns without being limited in the lower wind range. The flight remains super smooth even in choppy waters. You feel safe and can confidently navigate shallow waters. The surf style of the Ypra Surf-Freestyle focuses less on smooth gliding and more on sharp maneuvers and precise turns.
Queen of pop and repop, it’s the front wing for tearing up the spot with huge tricks.
The moderate aspect ratio, ranging from 6.8 on the larger sizes to 7.6 on the smallest, combines extreme maneuverability, enhanced control, and high efficiency. The wing takes off very early, provides solid lift, accelerates, and turns on a dime.
The highly curved leading edge amplifies both maneuverability and pop. The pop is further reinforced by the straight trailing edge, which releases from the water instantly.
The surface is centered to maximize rail-to-rail transitions, boost lift at low speeds, and provide exceptional pivoting.
The profile of the Ypra Surf-Freestyle is fast, allowing for rapid acceleration before committing to the most intense tricks.
This profile is very forgiving when it comes to stalling, enabling the wing to function across a wide range of angles of attack, even at low speeds. This results in easy take-offs and a seamless recovery upon landing.
The pronounced dihedral helps maintain control at high speeds and under significant pressure. You remain steady at high speed, hyper-maneuverable, with solid grip under the front foot, and in total control during landings.
The fuselage is shorter than the rest of the range, increasing the foil's responsiveness, agility, and maneuverability. The goal is controlled instability, allowing you to shift from a stable flight to an explosive pop in an instant. Reducing the foil’s span is a key factor in generating this powerful pop.
The tips return to horizontal on the end section to enhance maneuverability, making drifts and snaps easier. In short, you can fly sideways without making mistakes. This is useful for many tricks and landings.
It also generates lift without adding drag, resulting in easier take-offs, improved glide, and powerful pop.
