For whom ?
Clearly the kite of a skilled twin-tip rider who wants a kite capable of excelling in all programs. What for?
The Vertigo is primarily a twin-tip kite, offering the perfect power and remarkable maneuverability. Perfect for jumps and tricks. Its flying principle is to be "unbraked." So, it's a kite that glides perfectly. Ideal recipe for unhooked riding, for example. But it's also what makes it great for surfing. It positions itself easily wherever you want in the window, it drifts, it turns.
In summary, it's the 3-strut twin-tip kite that also knows how to do everything else.
What Kite size ?
The Vertigo has power and moves really well. A skilled rider will easily exploit the low wind range. And with its 3-pulley bridles and "open" tips, you'll have a really important and enjoyable high wind range.Choose your kite according to our recommendations below. Wind ranges always depend on your weight, skill level, and the type of board you're using!
What Bar size ?
The choice of your bar size will have a direct impact on the overall feel of your kite. Remember that the longer your bar, the easier it will be to turn your kite. This detail is important when using larger kites, especially in very light winds, to maintain good responsiveness. The longer leverage compensates for this natural loss of responsiveness. On the contrary, the smaller the kite, the faster it will turn! So, using a smaller bar allows you to balance behaviors and calm down kite reactions. Therefore, consider these factors when choosing the size of your bar and adjust the control to the feeling you like and the conditions you encounter.
- If you prefer smooth and gradual control, you should "undersize" your bar.
- If you prefer fast and responsive control, you should choose a larger bar.
The key size is the 52cm bar. It is the most versatile bar to choose if you want to have only one bar for a quiver of 7-9-12 or 8-11 or even 8-10-13.
When you are equipped with an extended kite quiver, it's best to also have a range of bar sizes to maintain a balanced feel when switching from a small kite to a larger one. Also, note that having two bars reduces wear on parts by half!
Here are our recommendations:

The above recommendations are based on the behavior of GONG kites. Since our bars are compatible with a wide range of kites, you can adapt your choice based on the type of kite used.
Line Length:
Your Feel-X bar comes standard with 80cm front lines, 19m of lines, and 3m extensions already mounted. The original setup is the most versatile and will be your best choice for 90% of your sessions. One of the main advantages of the Feel-X bar is its great tolerance provided by its shape. By playing with its lengths, or even modifying them with our extensions (sold separately), you further enhance its versatility!
22m Lines:
The "standard" length provides a more progressive and predictable bar feeling (recommended setting for progressing kiters). Your flight window will be larger, offering more power at takeoff. This is the setting to favor in light to medium wind conditions, and for everyday freeride use.
19m Lines:
Shorter lines offer a more direct response from the kite, increasing its reactivity. The flight window will be shorter. This is the perfect setting for advanced kiters, especially for wave riding or foil for more agility. If you choose to ride with shorter lines, you will also gain comfort in high wind conditions.
Note that 22m and 19m are not extreme line lengths and remain a fine adjustment to your piloting sensation.

WHERE TO FIND THE KITE INSTRUCTIONS ?
WHERE TO FIND THE BAR INSTRUCTIONS ?
IS THE VERTIGO A BEGINNER-FRIENDLY & VERSATILE KITE ?
However, its open tips and smooth glide in the air make it docile and forgiving of mistakes. The Vertigo is the ultimate all-around kite, capable of performing well in every aspect of kiteboarding.
WHICH FREERIDE KITE TO CHOOSE ?
- Display: The quintessential Freeride kite, it's the most versatile model no matter the level or conditions encountered! With a good low-end range and a stable 3-strut shape in strong winds, the Display has a very wide range of use, always with unparalleled ease of use! Intuitive freeriding, regardless of wind strength.
- Vertigo: Freeriding in high-performance mode! Like with the Display and the Unik, the Vertigo allows you to have a blast on any surface. However, this kite, with its precise handling and constant traction, is best suited for experienced kiters. The Vertigo is fast, reacts very quickly, and gives an impressive jump boost. Freeride yes, but in turbocharged mode!
- Unik: Of course, it's a Freeride kite, but developed to facilitate navigation in light wind or underpowered conditions primarily. Its single-strut shape offers impressive lightness and great stability throughout the wind window. You feel safe even in 10 knots. If you frequently sail on a lightly windy spot and enjoy switching from TT to surf to foil, this model will be perfect for you!
WHAT INFLATION PRESSURE ?
You need to consider certain elements:
- An underinflated kite will be unstable and difficult to control in gusty winds. Relaunching will also be more complicated with a kite that doesn't maintain its shape.
- An overinflated kite increases the risk of explosion during a crash and will fatigue the seams and materials of your kite more quickly.
- If you leave your kite inflated in the sun for a long period, we recommend slightly deflating it to reduce the risk of seam fatigue.
KITE WITH OR WITHOUT PULLEYS ?
We have chosen to work with a short bridle, featuring three pulley ring frictions on each side. This type of short bridle, with a wide range of motion, offers significant control in high wind conditions while maintaining remarkable maneuverability.
COMPATIBILITY OF BARS ?
- Kite-side loops for the front lines
- Kite-side knots for the back lines
HOW TO MAINTAIN MY KITE EQUIPMENT ?
A key point during usage is not to leave your kite inflated for long periods without use! Flapping of the fabric in the wind can cause premature wear of the materials, as can prolonged exposure to UV rays.
Frequent rinsing of your kite with running water is also not recommended. The chlorine present in tap water can alter the surface treatments of your kite.
However, it is advisable to store your kite dry and remove any excess sand. Always rinse your bar with clean water to remove sand and salt. Also, remember to open the safety release mechanism to rinse its interior. Let it dry before reassembling.
In case of a pierced strut or leading edge, use your repair kit, or check our spare parts to order the replacement piece. Systematically inspect the condition of your kite.
Identify any holes or tears and have them repaired before they worsen. If you have damaged your kite due to improper use, you can have it repaired directly at the GONG workshop by contacting our sail loft: here
