Presentation

The PULSE DP UPE ARAMID is a jewel of innovation and performance. 

This concept of wide luff which is already known in windsurfing for example and in aeronautics more broadly, had never reached production for winging before GONG found simple and effective technical solutions. Developed by our engineers and our Pro Team, this design was born after dozens of specific prototypes and hundreds of hours of digital simulations. Converting a very common idea to a perfect realization took a lot of dedication. 

The PULSE DP UPE ARAMID has been designed to be the best Race wing :

  • The ratio is increased from 4.0m2 to 5.5m2 to limit drag.
  • The wingspan is almost constant from 5.5m2 to 6.5m2 to have more torque and be able to sail full tilt over the chop without hitting the crests.
  • The draft is now flatter than on the PULSE Boom. The wing is more incisive in the air and glides even better!
  • The double profile which traps the air behind the leading edge greatly limits drag, the efficiency gained at high speed is stunning.
  • The leading edge diameters have been reworked, the central section has been refined for more glide, the diameters at the tips have been slightly increased to improve the rigidity and make the wing more powerful.
  • The tips have been opened a bit to optimize air flow, with glide as the main point of focus.
  • The wing is equipped with a new material on the inflatable structures, UPE Aramid, lighter and stiffer than UPE in order to offer unrivaled performance on the market.

UPE ARAMID Technology

The Droïd UPE Aramid benefits from the most advanced technology to excel in freestyle:

The UPE Aramid, a true gem of textile technology developed by experts in nautical textiles.

How does it work?

  • The PET film ensures the connection between the elements and waterproofing.
  • The Aramid fibers are arranged at a chosen angle to block the fabric’s extension under load without unnecessarily adding weight to the structure.
  • The thin layer of UPE, lighter than on UPE 200, ensures strength. This tight weave of Dyneema fibers is a veritable shield.

These three laminated layers create a fabric that is both extremely lightweight, highly rigid, and very resistant to tearing.

Our exclusive assembly, tested in the laboratory and by the Pro Team, ensures unparalleled longevity for UPE Aramid.

The whole system is so rigid that 8 PSI gives you the rigidity of a UPE 200 at 15 PSI. It’s truly deformation-resistant.

Less pressure = less stress in the wing = less time spent pumping.

Buying guide

For whom?

It is aimed at experienced wing foilers who are looking for a fine and powerful wing to pilot that always delivers more speed.

The Pulse DP is technical, efficient and demanding; therefore we do not recommend it for beginners or people in the progression phase. You need a solid background in wing foiling, which can be enriched by extensive experience in windsurf racing or slalom since the piloting is essentially the same.

For what?

Go faster, in a straight line or on a long up and down course.

This is not a wing for jumping, surfing, maneuvering or doing cool tacks. This is the first pure Race wing!!!

What size?

With this PULSE DP UPE ARAMID, as soon as you fly you constantly have power in the wing by creating apparent wind which it loves and which it will convert into forward traction.

For a Slalom use, take the same size wing as usual to maintain handling and control when sailing crosswind.

For a Race use with upwind and downwind courses close to the tailwind, it is preferable to take it a size larger than a traditional wing.

Neutra: the perfect wing for waves and free-flying.

Which quiver?

You need a fast foil to exploit all the speed that this wing will offer. It will be perfect with a Veloce H, a Ypra S or a Ypra.

Generally we will even take advantage of the superior traction of the Pulse DP to remove 100 to 200cm2 on the front wing.

But you can also associate it with a Cruzader and a giant front wing like the Sirus in very light winds. Its magical glide will be a real pleasure.

For the board, the best choice is a rigid FSP Pro board to transmit all the energy to the foil.

With or without a harness?

With the PULSE DP UPE ARAMID, the harness is mandatory to sheet in properly, lean back in the harness and set your course, and relieve your arms on long runs at high speed!

The Pulse DP pulls very hard, and provides much more lift than a single skin wing. So you can really rest in the harness.

Moreover, a real harness is recommended for long overpowered sessions. It pulls really hard and all the time.

The wing is equipped with a boom so the harness line is adjustable to find your sweet spot.

Please note, the boom harness line is not supplied with the wing.

Equipments

The PULSE DP UPE ARAMID is equipped with the most prestigious elements in wing foiling:

  • The double profile, which is a second canopy that connects the leading edge to the intrado to optimize flow.
  • The Low Drag System technology on each tip consists of a rigid, removable slat tensioned by a profiled clip to allow smooth air flow.
  • The Prepreg carbon is wrapped around the boom in 4 directions to maximize its rigidity, it is the most high-end technology on the market! Its oval shape offers ideal ergonomics to be able to sail with this powerful wing without paralyzing the forearms.

  • The new windows were positioned to have a panoramic view downwind. This is a real plus for your safety and that of others.
  • A downwind handle on the leading edge which allows the shocked wing to be manipulated on land as well as on the water.
  • The inflation/deflation valves are directly connected to the hose of the pump (pump not supplied). No more incompatible or lost nozzle!
  • The neoprene valve caps have been pierced to facilitate air evacuation when folding, even closed!
  • The micro-slats at the trailing edge are ultra light for considerable weight savings.
  • The wing is always supplied with its repair kit.
  • To comply with sailing regulations, we have integrated a laminated label on the underside, close to the tip, to write down the owner’s personal information: name, first name, telephone number and address.
  • The PULSE DP UPE ARAMID is supplied with a high-end bag whose dimensions will allow you to store the wing easily and without dismantling either the boom or the LDS slats by rolling the wing like a windsurf sail. It’s really practical and space-saving since it’s smaller than your board.

Delivery

Delivery delay

We indicate a preparation and shipping time of 3 working days. In reality, the majority of orders are shipped within 24/48 hours.

The delivery time, i.e. delivery time of the package to your home, then depends on the delivery location and the carrier.

We work with reliable and efficient carriers. 99% of shipments go perfectly and quickly. In the case of the remaining 1%, rest assured that we will do what is necessary with the carrier.

Shipping fees

Unlike other sites, shipping costs are not hidden behind the price of our products. You know exactly what shipping costs you, and you are not disadvantaged if you choose to collect your order at our GONG Space Center.

Shipping costs are calculated based on the weight and volume of each package, and your delivery address.

Tracking your package

Delivery tracking is managed directly by the carriers to whom we have entrusted your packages. They will contact you by email or SMS to allow you to choose delivery methods and follow the route of your package.

Carriers

We work with the best transport societies to deliver to you throughout Europe and the world within very short deadlines. We chose them for their quality of service and their compliance with deadlines.

For mainland France, 80% of your orders arrive at their destination in less than 48 hours of processing.

For Europe, delivery times vary from 3 to 6 working days, depending on the country of destination.

For the rest of the world, delivery times depend on transit time and customs clearance time. This delay depends on customs and can last from a few days to a few weeks depending on the destination and seasonality.

Please note, transport time is added to preparation/shipping time. Two companies collaborate on your order (GONG and the carrier). Each one masters its activity and is committed to optimizing its deadlines so that you are delivered as quickly as possible and at a reasonable price.

Eco-responsible packaging

Preserving the environment is an absolute priority. This is why we do everything possible to reduce our ecological footprint.

The most important thing is to sell quality, durable products that will be repairable and will please you for a long time.

For our shipments, we use:

Scotch craft paper.

Final packaging in high-end cardboard.

For rigid boards: Flexi-Hex, very high resistance ecological packaging.

This means:

Reusable and recyclable packaging.

An almost total reduction in single-use plastic.

Maximum protection and impact resistance for rigid boards thanks to the innovative Flexi-Hex honeycomb design (35mm thick).


Receipt of your product

Upon delivery, check the condition of your package in the presence of the carrier. A complete explanation email on the procedure to follow will be sent to you when your order is shipped.

Despite our requirements and all the care we take in the packaging and protection of your product, transport hazards may occur, and your product may suffer more or less significant transport damage.

Note that the products are protected in their carton. If you have any doubts, simply refuse delivery and contact us.

Vous devez lire entièrement le mode d’emploi détaillé avant la première utilisation de votre wing.

Soyez sûr de l’avoir parfaitement compris. Les ailes de wing peuvent être dangereuses selon leur taille et la force du vent. Il faut vérifier la plage de vent de votre wing et l’adapter à vos capacités réelles.

Pour les premières sessions, n’utilisez jamais votre nouvelle wing dans sa plage haute de vent. Utilisez votre wing dans un environnement sécurisé. Prenez le temps nécessaire pour apprendre le maniement de l’équipement dans des conditions optimum de sécurité. Ne sous-estimez jamais la force de traction de votre wing. Même une wing pour débutants peut développer une force de traction de plusieurs centaines de kilogrammes en fonction de sa taille et de la force du vent. Ne surestimez pas vos capacités. Une mauvaise utilisation peut provoquer des blessures graves ou causer la mort du pratiquant ou de tiers. N’utilisez pas votre wing en mer par vent de terre. Utilisez votre wing équipée d’un leash. Soyez vigilant pour éviter toute collision. Soyez extrêmement prudent si vous naviguez avec votre wing et une planche équipée d’un foil. Le fabricant décline tout responsabilité en cas de dégâts ou de dommages causés par l’usage inapproprié de la wing ou par imprudence.

Généralités sur la wing

La wing est une aile à structure gonflable directement dans les mains du rider. Des poignées ou un boom permettent de contrôler son vol et la puissance délivrée.

L’atout numéro 1 de la wing c’est l’absence de pied de mat. On peut ainsi passer d’une traction horizontale de type planche à voile à une traction verticale de type kite. On combine à loisir le meilleur des deux mondes, dans une liberté totale.
Bien moins compliquée qu’une aile de kite et bien moins lourde qu’une voile de windsurf, la wing vous allège au zénith et accélère face à vous.

La wing associe les avantages et les moves de ces deux sports, et elle en donne encore plus avec toutes les possibilités liées à la neutralité en surf, et aux rotations sous la wing et autres désaxages… le potentiel de moves est sans fin.
Moteur idéal d’un engin à foil, elle est bien plus rassurante qu’un kite et bien plus maniable qu’une voile de windsurf.

La wing est de loin le support le plus simple pour apprendre à faire du foil, loin devant tous les autres sports. Une super entrée en matière pour foiler ensuite dans les autres sports.

C’est l’engin parfait :

  • Compact, il tient dans une voiture et passe easy en avion.
  • Léger, on peut balader son quiver sans galérer.
  • On se met à l’eau n’importe où, sauf dans le shorebreak.
  • Très peu sensible à la qualité du vent. S’il tombe on rentre tranquille.
  • Un potentiel en surf et en tricks quasi infini sans pied de mat.
  • Des hautes performances pour un minimum de contraintes.
  • L’attrait de la nouveauté, ça fait du bien de changer parfois.
  • Aucun danger majeur.
  • Du smile, du smile et du smile.

Avec sa glisse, on n’est pas obligé de surtoiler pour s’éclater. Dans les rafales, sa structure encaisse naturellement les excès de puissance. Les pros pourront mettre un harnais pour toiler plus et doper les performances. Mais les amateurs trouveront aussi un vrai soulagement dans le harnais. Contrairement aux idées reçues, c’est la wing qui porte vos bras, pas l’inverse. Mais après deux heures sans harnais, il faut avouer que la fatigue est là. Libre à chacun de s’accrocher à mains nues ou de se soulager.

Idéale avec un foil, elle demande plus d’air qu’un kite qui aura toujours comme avantage de
tracter énormément dès 4/5 nœuds. La wing va demander entre 10 et 15 nœuds pour s’exprimer sur un foil et restera super facile même dans 35 nœuds, voire 50 nœuds, là où le kite rime souvent avec grosse prise de risque.

Elle est géniale avec une pure board de wing, mais aussi avec de multiples supports tels que :

  • SUP foil
  • Surf foil
  • Stand Up Paddle SUP (rigides ou gonflables)
  • Skate
  • Roller
  • Mountain board
  • Tout ce qui glisse sur la neige
  • Etc.

Les atouts de la wing sont clairement identifiés : simplicité, compacité et légèreté apportent une liberté de mouvement et une facilité de prise en main inégalées. La wing est prête à voler en 1min chrono : pas de ligne à dérouler, simplement deux lattes souples à insérer dans leur fourreau, quelques coups de pompe et c’est parti.

La technologie utilisée pour la fabrication des wings est très proche de celle de nos ailes de kitesurf, mais en beaucoup plus solide. De multiples renforts sont présents sur les zones d’efforts en fonction des différentes utilisations.

Le shape de la wing est « auto-stable ». N’imaginez pas l’orienter par la force des poignets sur un wishbone : ça ne marche pas comme ça. Vous baissez la main arrière : la wing se met à plat au-dessus de votre tête. Vous la montez et la wing se met à la verticale. Easy ! C’est ce qu’on appelle le pilotage parapluie ou paravent. On dit souvent que les débuts en wing ressemblent plus à de la pole dance qu’à du windsurf. En effet, il faut quasiment avoir la main arrière à la verticale sous la main avant quand on ne vole pas, pour maintenir la Wing en parapluie. Ainsi on l’éloigne de l’eau, et on utilise sa traction avec le même angle qu’un kite pour s’alléger. Alors pensez pole dance ;-)))
