NEWS: THE SLAB RECOGNIZED AS “OCEAN FRIENDLY RESTAURANT”!

The Slab, the restaurant that welcomes the visitors of the GONG Space Center, has been recognized by the Surfrider Foundation for its eco-responsible management by complying with the “Ocean Friendly Restaurant” charter!

 

A distinction that salutes the efforts of the chef and his team who are fully committed in coping with the environmental challenges of their sector.

A charter that perfectly matches GONG’s holistic approach to preserving the environment. Namely an approach where you activate each possible lever that limits your impact on nature. For a company like ours, this means an exemplary durability of our products and operating methods in production and logistics that generate a minimum of pollution. For a restaurant, there are also many ways to make a stand. To limit its impact, the Slab also adopts other measures beyond the mandatory criteria of the charter:

  • No use of plastic bottles for take-out drinks.
  • No frozen food, homemade food is a source of pride and pleasure for our teams.
  • Fresh tap water is provided free of charge to the consumer upon request.
  • The customer has the possibility of being served in their own reusable container and can obviously leave the restaurant with a doggy bag.
  • Practices are in place to reduce packaging in the supply chain.
  • No paper communication is carried out by the restaurant (flyers, posters, etc.).
  • No condiments in individual packages for consumption on site.
  • Composting practices are in place.
  • The fish offered on the menu come from sustainable fishing and are offered only in the season with the least impact on the species.
  • Our local organic market gardener is our main source of plant supply.
  • The menu is changed more than ten times a year to stick to the seasonality of the products and renew the pleasure of the team (and of our customers of course).
 

In addition to an eco-responsible approach, The Slab stands out with delicious dishes and a quality of service praised by the visitors of the GONG Space Center, which isn’t bad either! 😉

The restaurant opens its doors to you every day except Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6.30 p.m. with a full offer from noon to 3 p.m.
