The feeling of UPE Aramid is impressive: incredibly light, rigid, and dynamic. You can feel it from the moment you handle it on the beach. On the water, the hang time on the Droid is insane, and the responsiveness of these wings is the boost of dynamism that changes everything. The entire team showcases innovative and spectacular tricks, session after session, with the team gaining momentum in the latest stages of the World Tour.

Their ability to send it big and innovate is also attributed to the new shapes with the wasp-waist center strut that significantly frees the wing in transitions and rotations, which including their GONG booms, has opened the door to a new way of surfing and tricks from kitesurfing or windsurfing that were previously thought to be impossible.

A new tech that changes everything

The UPE Aramid that you already know from the Pulse DP is the lightest and stiffest material on the market. At 85g/m2 (2 times less than Dacron!), this UPE Aramid present on the leading edge and the central batten ensures, in addition to a considerable weight savings (400g on a 5m2), an unparalleled gain in stiffness and reactivity. It’s simple: the wing no longer bends! We control its twisting through the Aramid axis and the design of the shape. Thus, deformations are no longer present.

In addition to its exceptional mechanical properties, this material also has a very low absorption rate. The wing gains very little weight when wet.

Obviously, a superb material without perfect assembly is worthless, and we have worked in infinite detail to ensure the reliability of the technical solutions for its implementation. For this, we have tested all known assemblies on traction machines and innovated with new and exclusive assembly methods at GONG to surpass the standards. Our wings have never been so robust.

What is UPE Aramid?

The UPE Aramid, a true gem of textile technology developed by experts in nautical textiles. How does it work?

The PET film ensures the connection between the elements and waterproofing.
The Aramid fibers are arranged at a chosen angle to block the fabric’s extension under load without unnecessarily adding weight to the structure.
The thin layer of UPE, lighter than on UPE 200, ensures strength. This tight weave of Dyneema fibers is a veritable shield.

These three laminated layers create a fabric that is both extremely lightweight, highly rigid, and very resistant to tearing.

Our exclusive assembly, tested in the laboratory and by the Pro Team, ensures unparalleled longevity for UPE Aramid.

The whole system is so rigid that 8 PSI gives you the rigidity of a UPE 200 at 15 PSI. It’s truly deformation-resistant.

Less pressure = less stress in the wing = less time spent pumping. More durability, performance, and lightness: the holy grail.

The Neutra UPE Aramid is as pure a wave riding wing as it gets thanks to its stability, tolerance and maneuverability. A wing that has never been so neutral in surfing thanks to reduced sections. The Droid UPE Aramid is the essential wing for Surf-Freestyle. It’s a compact, powerful, and maneuverable wing, 100% boom: the winning combo for freestyle and aerials while still performing amazingly in waveriding and freerace thanks to its innovative profile. In freestyle it can be flipped in all directions with ease, be it for transitions or rotations, in particular thanks to its reduced strut which unlocks it. In jumps its power lifts you higher and further than ever.

Boom only strut

The central batten of the Neutra and Droid UPE Aramid has evolved compared to its UPE 200 version: it now has a “wasp waist” shape and is boom only.

Our prepreg carbon boom also allows for significant weight savings compared to rigid handles, saving over 200 grams removing two attachment points. We also saved 30 grams thanks to the thinner batten, and every gram counts at this level. In surfing and freefly, this weight savings is essential, keeping the wing perfectly neutral and balanced.

The flex of the strut is close to zero thanks to the carbon boom that absorbs the forces at play. A non-bending strut results in a wing that stays tight, a powerful wing that never flaps and glides perfectly through the air.

Lightness and responsiveness are always prioritized in the Team Series range.

At the front of the boom, there is a pistol grip, providing a steady power that you can adjust as needed, eliminating possible flaps of the wing that slow you down when surfing in offshore wind.
