It's flat around here...
To start foil surfing, you need a good spot (see our How To: Choose the right spot for surf foiling), an intermediate level in surfing (see our How To: Get into surf foiling) and suitable gear. These three ingredients are essential to get started in good conditions.
When you start out, you choose waves with little energy, and you are either taking off with the whitewater or away from the breaking point. Like a beginner in surfing who will favor a board with length and volume to compensate for its lack of technique or placement on the wave, a beginner in surf foiling will start with a thick profile that will offer lift at low speed. So, whether you are “badly” placed on the wave or the swell bump, and even at low speed, you will fly. A thick profile will be stable and relatively slow, but when starting out with a foil speed is not really a priority as even the slowest foil will always go faster than a good surfer. The priority is the stability which helps you during the take off and the flight. In our range, the Rise and X-Over wings are the most suitable for beginnings. The Rise if you are a total beginner, the X-Over, if you already have a little experience in foiling, or if you are likely to progress very quickly as soon as you test a new sport. We tend to believe that surf foiling is only for surfing champions but an intermediate level is more than enough to get started. A good paddle, a good placement in the line-up and an experience on small volumes are the basis for starting out in surf foil. The sport is accessible. As are the prices on our foils;) Thanks to our direct sales model, our Surf Foil Rise is offered at 299€ (mast, fuselage, front wing and stab). The X-Over Surf Foil which offers wider development prospects is offered at only 399€! Resisting the perks of foiling isn’t easy in these conditions 😉
