Our cutting-edge HDCC construction introduces the No Volume concept for kite surfboards!
The new HDCC range of kite surfboards marks a turning point in kitesurfing, much like twin tips did 25 years ago. Thanks to GONG’s ability to invest, innovate, and push boundaries, we can now create revolutionary boards that completely redefine volume.
Three models in the range benefit from this evolution:
- The Catch, the ultimate reference for strapless freestyle.
- The Pie, excelling in average conditions.
- The Chemical, inspired by our surfboard lineup, embodying the essence of a high-performance shortboard.
Novo for No Volume
Innovation is at the heart of everything we create. Featuring a revolutionary construction, the HDCC kite surfboards set a new standard for high-end boards, combining unmatched flexibility, reactivity, performance, and durability, all while remaining incredibly lightweight.
Beyond its groundbreaking qualities, HDCC technology embraces the no-volume board concept. Our new “Novo” range introduces shapes where volume is minimized to the essentials. In kitesurfing, excessive volume can be a drawback, making the board bounce unnecessarily, whereas thickness is less critical when the kite provides vertical lift. With a stance lower in the shape and ultra-thin rails, the responsiveness and precision in turns and maneuvers are simply stunning.
The volume reduction made possible by HDCC technology— the only one capable of providing the necessary strength for such thin boards—delivers an incredibly refined feel on the water. Just as twin tips evolved from thick to thin and flat in the early 2000s, Novo boards are revolutionizing kitesurf boards by optimizing the essentials: surface, rocker, and rails.
Everything unnecessary is removed, leaving only pure glide. You feel more in control than ever, effortlessly pushing your surf turns to the next level. In freestyle, the lightness, dynamism, and precision of the "Novo" boards are game-changers for landing tricks. Even in choppy waters, the board stays connected to your feet, eliminating unwanted bounce. The result? An unrivaled sensation of glide.
This game-changing concept in kitesurfing is presented in greater detail, along with its historical context, by Patrice Guénolé, founder and shaper of GONG, in this Tech Talk:
Three models in the range embrace the “Novo” concept: The Catch, Pie, and Chemical.
- Catch “Novo” HDCC
Featuring an innovative no-volume shape (13L), wider at the nose and tail, and a very slim profile, the Catch HDCC delivers explosive pop and flawless control in the air. Perfect for riders in search of precision and extreme sensations, it brings new opportunities to freestyle and wave riding.
Insane versatility:
- On the flat: excels in pure freestyle, perfect for big airs, kite loops, and technical tricks (back/front etc..).
- In the waves: fast, precise, and maneuverable, it links tight, committed turns with surgical fluidity.

The Pie HDCC is designed for speed, maneuverability, and comfort, delivering maximum fun in any conditions. Its sharp acceleration and exceptional upwind ability make it shine in side-on/onshore winds and softer waves. Just catch a wave, ride it as long as you want, then reposition effortlessly to do it all over again.
- Chemical “Novo” HDCC
With a 100% shortboard shape, the Chemical HDCC combines smoothness, precision, and radical performance. Its maneuverability and responsiveness deliver a natural flow, instantly connecting your feet to the wave.
Ideal for quality waves, from waist-high to solid double overhead and beyond, the Chemical HDCC excels in precise bottom turns, powerful snaps, and tight carves. Its explosive acceleration and intuitive maneuverability let you charge every section with flow and style.
