Matthieu took advantage of a promotional offer to complete his Zero FSP Pro 9’0 with a… second Zero FSP Pro in 8’5! An opportunity that allowed him to reach a new level in surfing as he explains in his feedback.

“Yesterday I tested my new Zero 8’5. I’m 42 years old, 78kg, and have an intermediate level +. I have been collecting Zeros since they have been available in 9/115l and I have loved it each time the shape has been refreshed.

I’ve always wanted to have a little shortSUP on the side for perfect conditions: I first had a Mob 7’6 then Karmen 7’11 but the ease of the Zero always took over and after first letting these boards take dust, I sold them and my Zero was my one and only board.

But how to do more with only one board? I dived into a fin forum and took a 5”5 single fin; and then, the 8’5 arrived.. I first resisted the temptation because I didn’t want to make the same mistake a third time… and then the sales arrived… And so here I am equipped with a double Zero quiver…

My surfed waves are of all sizes but remain generally soft. First test yesterday of the 8’5 in glassy conditions: no worries waiting in the line-up, obviously less generously comfortable than the 9’0, but immediately at ease, 80 cm whitewater crossings, no problem, in short, I loved it. At the end of the session, 5 knots of onshore wind hit the body of water, exactly what I was hoping for to test the limits of comfort: with a little attention, it’s fine!

On the surfing side, I found EVERYTHING I like about the 9’0.

But supercharged: I engage the turns and the board follows instantly. There’s no delay between intentions and actions. In 80 cm, I can now place 3 turns where I had a hard time placing only one with the 9’0 by twisting the paddle, because it went out of its comfort zone.

And I find what I like with the relaxed rocker of this shape: the glide. This is the point that made me sell the Mob and the Karmen: you have to be perfectly placed at the peak to take off, whereas with the Zero, you can drop from much further and it’s very comfortable. In short, I have the reactivity and the lightness of the Karmen, the glide of the Zero 9’0 and more, I love it. Bravo for this shape that has everything, and thank you!”
