FEEDBACK: YPRA MS

Feedback from Adrien who was able to compare his new Ypra MS front wing with the Fluid HM.
“Ypra S in size M for 785cm² vs Fluid H-M 1000cm². Please note these are not equivalent surfaces and wingspans.
So here’s my first feedback after a wing foiling session with the Ypra MS associated with the Stab Pro Veloce H 40.
Conditions: inland lake, 1.5 degrees ?, wind 10/16 knots. I started by sailing for 1 hour with the Fluid HM, which I’m starting to get to know well, then..so eager to test my new toy! Frankly, I wasn’t feeling confident on the beach given the wind. I thought I would struggle to take off, and lack power in the wing for all the maneuvers.
In the end, I only regret not having used it earlier in the session. It gets you off the ground much easier than what I expected, you just have to be a little more precise because it stalls more easily than the Fluid. Once in flight… ????
Super glide and very healthy in the supports (jibe, tack, 360°).
A real treat in carves, you can attack at full speed. Great.
- Regarding the pop: You’re on a trampoline ?
- And above all, the big difference, it locks much more when you pick up speed! Feeling secure and locked to a rail. This is the major flaw that I blame the Fluid HM for, I have a feeling of floating as soon as you exceed 20 knots. You must be precise and light on the supports.
- Finally, less lift felt with increasing speed.
Conclusion: very slightly more delicate and precise start, magnificent glide, better carving, better pop and above all much better locking with speed.
? ? ? ? This Ypra S is really great. I am very clearly considering replacing my Fluid HM with its big sister, the Ypra LS, which has the same surface.”
