“This is the first time I have GONG kites in my quiver. I have had and tested a large number of kite brands since my beginnings in 1999, some of which have now disappeared from the market and others still in place.

What stands out in the first place when you order a GONG kite is their price!

A 14m² kite with its bar will cost you between 2000 and 2500 euros with other brands, while at GONG you have a complete kite with a bar at 1088€! When you receive the kite you are impressed by the quality of the bag that is provided. When unpacking, the quality of the fabrics used is noticeable. We are on a construction equivalent to brands sold twice as expensive… A Tejin triple ripstop spinnaker, quality dacron and well-placed reinforcements inspire confidence. The seams are clean and regular, the spectra bridles are clean with a quality pulley.

The inflation of the Unik 14 is done quickly with its single strut and its efficient one-pump system. Very practical and safe bayonet valve. Nice to inflate a 14m² so quickly!

Now for the action!

The bar, the bridles and the kite are perfectly adjusted and no setting is necessary (which is not always the case even with brands that claim to be top of the range).

In a very light wind with the Matata FSP 2X, a small thermal wind of 10 knots/13 knots allowed me to glide thanks to a powerful and easy-to-handle kite which makes it easy to generate apparent wind and obtain peak performance!

The kite is very easy to handle (with a 69cm bar for this test) and is very light and very smooth in flight.

It instinctively places itself where you decide to put it. There was no adaptation time needed. I really loved it !

In a wind rising to almost 20 knots and still on the Matata with the 69cm bar, I was able to test the high range of this kite. The range of use is stunning, the depower is very effective and progressive. The kite does not deform, even in the high wind range. I had never used a single strut kite and I was very pleasantly surprised by this point with the Unik 14.

In the high range, in the jumps, it goes high and it sustains a lot. Small waves with a sideshore wind allowed me to see that even for a 14m2 it is possible to surf with a kite that drifts easily and healthily. I did not test the relaunch because the kite did not touch the water.

Now after ten sessions with this kite I can confirm what I wrote above.

The Unik is an excellent kite, very well built and offered at an incredible price!

My friends were surprised by the performance and construction of the kite and very pleasantly surprised by the price offered by GONG! Why continue to pay more for gear? Whereas with GONG you have high-end gear at an unbeatable price!
