The Fluid S-T is not reserved only for the most energetic wing foilers at take-off. In strong winds, its performance is accessible to a light rider of an intermediate level, as Kangoolu experienced.

“Hi everyone, A little immediate feedback after a first ride in wing foiling, with a Fluid S-T. I have been itching to try this for a while, done deal yesterday after finding a second-hand in the shop. Wind 20-30 kts (Neutra 3m), a nice and big swell, stab Fluid H 38, V2 Alu 85 cm mast, experienced rider of 60 kgs. My main fear was not to have the required level, considering the small size and the description of the site (pro riders only), which I still used to moderate considering my (very) light size.

Conclusion: it’s far from being inaccessible!

That’s the main point of this feedback, addressed primarily to “shrimp” jigs like me, who sometimes find it hard to choose their gear only according to brand descriptions (GONG among many others, not to say all ?). Of course, it’s a very small area (700 cm2) so there are still some drawbacks, mainly compared to a Fluid M-T which was my smallest front wing so far. According to my feelings, the main one concerns the take off for which you need to be well powered or in good shape and tonic to pump (I struggled a bit more at the end of the session with decreasing wind and three hours of sailing behind me…). The Fluid’s versatility and forgiveness are still present and still carry well when exiting transitions with less speed, where, for example, a Veloce M would have stalled. One foiling, it’s a little more unstable than the M-T but nothing confusing, and, on the other hand, what a treat in the curves ?

Its drivability is mega precise, it turns short, it glides, it’s really great!

I’m really satisfied with this first try, it will be unquestionably my major front wing as soon as there is swell and 20 knots. I am curious to test it with less wind (between 15 and 20 knots) as it seemed to me finally quite accessible. Here it is, just a little experience sharing in all humility, which may be useful to the lightweights who hesitate to test it ? Ciao tutti !”
