Surf Devil'S Tongue EPS
The easy shortboard for progression.
Program
Modern Egg : boards that boost your level and hover over the spot.
Introduction
Quite a lot of surface, an early take off, a magical acceleration, this is the shape to progress without the hassle of a big board.
Thin, elegant with its round point nose, the Devil’s Tongue gives you just the right amount of ease without degrading the performance you need. Its nose offers lift but does not catch rails in the turns. Its tail is punchy but fits perfectly in the curves, moving smoothly from rail to rail with its V-shape under the rear foot.
The concave hull captures the flow of water to boost your acceleration. The rails are clearly those of a shortboard for a modern drive that you will enjoy throughout your progress.
The Devil’s Tongue is either your first shortboard to evolve; either the super fun and relaxed board for the summer and / or surfers looking for comfort and ease.
Definitely the all about fun board to put in all hands.

In a nutshell
The round point nose and large diamond tail maximize surface area to boost take-offs. This is clearly what will help you in your progress.
The rocker is pronounced to give maximum tolerance on the slope and boost handling. The highly crafted rails come from our dedicated high performance shapes, with plenty of rear foot grip, gliding super well above the water and the most forgiving nose possible.
The hull is also very worked with a big concave under the front foot which concentrates a maximum of the flows to direct them towards the fins and the tail. Both acceleration and handling / control ratio are optimal. Everything you need for an evolutionary board with high performance.
- Rocker: modern to combine speed and carving.
- Rails: hard at the tail and round at the nose for a high-performance feeling.
- Volume: without excess to keep the performance at a good level.
- Outline: large general surface, tail support, compact and soft nose. The board carries and flies on the water.
- Tail: large faceted diamond cut to accelerate and keep a nice rail to rail..
- Nose: round point nose that carries when paddling and does not snag in the turns.
- Deck: flat for control, domed near the rails for maneuverability.
- Bottom: concave for maximum speed with a slight V at the tail for an easy rail to rail.
- Fins: Tri/Quad.

Buying guide
For whom?
This is the board for progressing or taking it easy. Or the easy little summer board for packed peaks or messy waves.
For what?
The board is stable, easy to take-off on and accelerates super well. It will function and be easy in all types of waves (except very hollow ones) and is perfect for everyday conditions.

Which surf bag ?

Quiver partners?
It’s a board that will stand on its own. For more seasoned surfers, this is typically the board for cool little conditions that can be supplemented with a more perfected shortboard when the swell gets bigger. Lethal, Atomic, Chemical or Evolt will complete your quiver to perform in good conditions.
Which fin setting?
You have the choice between a thruster or a quad setting on the Devil’s Tongue.
All the classic sets work, no particular gain by going towards something exotic. A good set of Performers will be perfect. Switch to Carvers if you want more directional stability (control).
To go further in performance, the Toledo and Wilson are top notch, The Fanning are more powerful at equal size. These fins are only sold in a thruster set. To be completed with quad rear fins if you want all configurations.
Take your recommended fin size or just above. Not less. You’re going to need some grip to use it.
Reminder of the recommended FCS2 fin sizes:
- XS for less than 55 kg / 120 Lbs
- S for 55 kg – 70 kg / 120 Lbs – 155 Lbs
- M for 65 kg – 80 kg / 145 Lbs – 175 Lbs
- L for 75 kg – 90 kg / 165 Lbs – 200 Lbs
- XL for those over 85 kg / 190 Lbs
Note that before the shape, it is the material of the fins that makes the performance. Remember that the more rigid the fin, the more it performs. And yes a pro needs good fins, but an amateur also needs to go fast because speed is the basis of all maneuvers.
Never take shorter, except possibly with a kite.
A surfer who wants more speed, to make better curves, to surf more cleanly, to work on his speed, will take a size above the recommended size.
How to put together a quad that suits you:
In a setup that mixes sets, consider that the laterals provide grip and acceleration; and the rears do the pivot, the drive and a little grip. So focus on beautiful ears suited to your need for power and speed.
Flat inner face quad rears have more grip and less glide. A more straightforward grip, but a Vmax and a mania a bit below the domed internal faces (20/80 for example). Favor flat faces anyway.
And rear quad rears that are too large totally block the handling of your board, giving you the impression that its tail “floats” too much in the curves. Terrible. Better too small than too big.
Equipments
- These boards are equipped with a leash plug and 5 FCS II fin boxes at your choice. You can therefore assemble your fins in thruster or in quad according to your desires and your surfing style while accessing an almost endless catalog of assembly possibilities.

How to properly glue your pads?
The question of the pad often comes down to an aesthetic choice for the look of your board. But what seems like luxury to non-pros is actually a huge help.
If surfing is the art of placement then you need to put your feet properly on the board. And what better than a touch marker to know, ok, I’m at the sweet spot for this turn.?
Sticking good pads is therefore essential. They will signal to your feet whether they are in the perfect position or not.
You still have to stick them properly, and some get very creative…
