The Ayto is our kite for big air and kite loops to send stratospheric tricks.

Presentation

All about performance, this exceptional kite is aimed at the most demanding and committed riders.

Faster, more maneuverable, the Ayto generates monstrous lift. It’s made to boost airs like never before. Its high aspect ratio provides great stability, allowing for powered-up riding and clean pops. Loops are executed with formidable precision.

The simple kite loop is no longer a challenge with the Ayto: double, S, triple, all the latest tricks are on the menu. You always have a controlled loop, with a kite that never chokes, ultra-responsive and that renews energy.

Besides its qualities for sending huge tricks, the wow effect of the Ayto is having the handling/glide feeling of a 9m2 while being on a 12m2. It's shocking! It turns like no other. You really enjoy piloting and positioning it. And it’s no secret, having a good 12 speaks volumes on the quality of the rest of range. It’s simply top-notch.

It's so fast, precise, and maneuverable: a G-force machine for members of the 15-meter and up club ;-)

Definitely Airton's favorite kite for boosting big airs!

Shape
5 STRUT DESIGN

The 5-strut design of the Ayto provides maximum rigidity and control in all situations, especially in strong winds, which is its preferred domain. The positioning of each strut has been carefully studied to not limit the maneuverability and twisting of the kite. The result is a 5-strut kite tailored for strong winds and loops.

HYBRID C SHAPE

The Ayto is a hybrid C shape with a lot of C: a modern and dynamic design that delivers maximum performance and dizzying loops.

The turning radius is super short. The kite is precise and turns on its edge at an incredible speed.

SHORT BRIDLE

The new reduced diameter bridles minimize drag while maintaining impeccable mechanical characteristics. The kite flies much smoother. Your Ayto adapts to your preferences thanks to adjustments on the rear and front bridles:

  • 3 attachment points for the rear bridles to adjust reactivity and bar pressure according to individual preference.
  • 3 settings on the front bridles:

Outward for more power, less bar pressure, slightly wider turning radius, and more stability for freestyle.

Inward for less power in the front lines/harness, faster turning, and more depower. - Central adjustment for perfect versatility.

The new short bridling system enhances feedback, resulting in a much more direct feeling.

Combined with a pulley-free system, you get a direct, precise, and fast kite.
The Ayto is a demanding kite reserved for expert pilots.

REACTIVE TIPS

The tips play a major role in your kite's behavior. By combining strong tension perfectly distributed across the entire kite and precisely calculated internal twisting of the tips, we have provided the Ayto with extraordinary responsiveness. This kite achieves an unprecedented level of performance. It climbs incredibly high and instinctively inspires you to perform loops.

HIGH RATIO

The high ratio of the Ayto provides all the finesse needed to clean up your pops and boost your hangtime. The glide of the Ayto is the most incredible in our range. This ratio also improves the high wind range and upwind performance.

Spend more time in the air and less time edging.

EASY RELAUNCH

The tight canopy and the inherent twist on the ears make flipping the Ayto easier, causing it to pivot onto one ear when pulling on one back line, or relaunching in reverse if both back lines are activated.

Durable Construction.

The Elips is built with the best materials available for a kite, using Dacron.

Our decades-long experience in kite making, along with all the advancements made in wing technology, have enabled us to push the performance of our kites to unprecedented levels.

The Dacron DP 175LL, combined with seams tested on a bench, provides the best in terms of rigidity and material resistance for the leading edge in Dacron.

The proven triple ripstop fabric offers perfect longevity and resistance with an ultra-lightweight of 55g/m2.

Strategically placed reinforcements ensure the durability of your equipment:

  • Insigna on the leading edge in areas prone to friction.
  • Tips reinforced with Dacron DP175LL and Nylon 1680D on the last sections of the leading edge.
  • Trailing edge in Dacron DP175LL to resist flapping over time.

Kite Ayto technology

Our kites are produced in one of the two largest kite factories in the world, meeting the quality standards of the best kites.

They are constructed with the utmost care. The panels are cut by CNC machines and fully assembled by the best workers in the kite industry.

The materials we use for our kites are among the finest. We seek performance, of course, but we also want endurance, so we opt for proven materials:

  • Leading edge and struts made of highly rigid and durable Dacron DP175LL.
  • Anti-flap trailing edge belt made of Dacron DP175LL.
  • High-quality triple Ripstop fabric to prevent tear propagation.
  • Insigna reinforcements on the leading edge.
  • Tips saver made of nylon 1680D to prevent wear from ground friction.
  • Thin bridles made of LIROS, ROBLINE, or COUSIN Dyneema.
  • 100% removable bridles for easy replacement of worn parts.
  • One Pump system for quick inflation and deflation.

Technical sheet

Kite Ayto 9 m2 / NAVY

Technical Sheet:

  • Leading edge and struts made of Dacron DP175LL: rigid skeleton.
  • Trailing edge made of Dacron DP175LL for good resistance to abrasion and better longevity in the wind.
  • Canopy made of highly resistant and dynamic triple ripstop fabric.
  • Strategically placed Insigna reinforcements on the leading edge for better durability.
  • Tips saver made of nylon 1680D to protect the tips from friction.
  • 2.3mm Cousin sheathed Dyneema bridles with LIROS DC701 connection: very thin, high quality, and low elongation.
  • 100% removable bridles for easy replacement of worn parts.
  • One Pump system for quick inflation and deflation.

Shape:

  • 5-batten design for enhanced profile rigidity, more stability in strong winds, and extreme Big Air conditions.
  • Hybrid C shape: with a significant C shape for maximum reactivity: modern, stable, predictable, and highly dynamic design. Projection coefficient: 62.2%: the most closed arc in the range.
  • High ratio (5.46) for maximum speed, favoring hangtime, resources, and big boosts in kite loops.
  • 100% performance profile: set back for maximum kite top speed and maximum stability in high wind conditions. Quite some draft (compared to its narrow chord, thus thin in absolute value) for incredible lift and excellent resource in loops.
  • Thin leading edge at the center for a fast and sleek kite in the air, while maintaining some section on the tips to maintain rigidity during strong maneuvers or in high winds. Nevertheless, it remains quite thin at the tips to allow strong twisting and extreme rotation speed. A refined profile that optimizes apparent wind, course, and control; but remains perfectly rigid without ever losing its shape.
  • Significant draft in proportion to the profile chord for low-speed power and good grip in radical actions. But this draft is small in absolute terms since the ratio is high, therefore with a low chord.
  • Streamlined big air outline for maximum glide and kite speed.
  • Curved struts that energize tensions, perfectly maintain the profile, and preserve the shape of the kite even during loops with very strong torsions.
  • Rounded tips with moderate surface area to optimize twisting actions in kite loops. The kite's inner tip deforms to turn even faster and onto its ear.
  • Significant internal tip twisting for maximum reactivity to bar actions and radical rotations. Individually, this twisting is almost zero because it is actually the result of the very strong tension applied to the entire kite. The result is a kite that twists very strongly when piloted.
  • Very strong fabric tension on each section for very responsive kite control (direct feeling: no latency).
  • Finely dosed bar feedback for precise and effortless control, especially with one hand. This avoids major mistakes because the kite is well felt but there is no need to "twist" the bar to make it react.
  • Medium depower because we want to have a power reserve in the harness that guarantees ultimate glide during tricks. In other words, the fronts sustain and the backs are only about directional control. The high aspect ratio allows these choices without risk because this kite quickly reaches the edge of the window and remains docile with a low chord.
  • Stable shape for a predictable kite and maximum safety in extreme conditions. The set-back tips distribute the mass slightly towards the back of the kite to avoid dives/stalls. We have in our hands a predictable and healthy kite for maximum safety.
  • Short front bridle to prevent tangling in the tips and make the kite more reactive; strapped on 6 points, without pulleys for an ultra-direct and uncompromising feeling.
  • 3 adjustments on the front bridle:
    • Outward of the kite for more power, less bar presence, a slightly larger turning radius, and more stability for freestyle.
    • Inward for a less powerful kite in the fronts/harness that turns faster and more depower.
    • The central adjustment for perfect versatility.
  • 3 attachment points for the rears to adjust reactivity and bar presence according to each person's feeling.

Buying guide

For whom?

The Ayto is the kite for professionals, requiring significant experience and commitment to be utilized effectively.

For what?

The Ayto is a high aspect ratio kite. Extremely lively and fast, it offers incredible lift. It excels in big air and kite loops, suitable for activities requiring maneuverability and speed in the kite, such as riding fast waves.

Understanding our kite range:

Display : the freeride kite for rapid progression.

Vertigo : high-performance kite for all disciplines from unhooked to surfing.

Ayto : the ultimate 5-strut kite for big air and kite loops.

Unik : lightweight mono-strut freeride kite for light wind, foiling, and waves.

Strutless : super light kite for light wind and freeride/freerace.

Strutless Revo : ultra-light and maneuverable kite for foiling and surfing.

Elips : the ultimate kite for waves.

What size?

With its high aspect ratio, the high wind range is truly where the Ayto shines, although with its 5 struts, it will be less effective when underpowered.

Choose your kite according to our recommendations below. Wind ranges always depend on your weight, skill level, and the type of board you're using!

Bar Size:

The choice of your bar size will have a direct impact on the overall feel of your kite. Remember that the longer your bar, the easier it will be to turn your kite. This detail is important when using larger kites, especially in very light winds, to maintain good responsiveness. The longer leverage compensates for this natural loss of responsiveness.

On the contrary, the smaller the kite, the faster it will turn! So, using a smaller bar allows you to balance behaviors and calm down kite reactions. Therefore, consider these factors when choosing the size of your bar and adjust the control to the feeling you like and the conditions you encounter.

  • If you prefer smooth and gradual control, you should "undersize" your bar.
  • If you prefer fast and responsive control, you should choose a larger bar.

The key size is the 52cm bar. It is the most versatile bar to choose if you want to have only one bar for a quiver of 7-9-12 or 8-11 or even 8-10-13.

When you are equipped with an extended kite quiver, it's best to also have a range of bar sizes to maintain a balanced feel when switching from a small kite to a larger one. Also, note that having two bars reduces wear on parts by half!

Here are our recommendations:

The above recommendations are based on the behavior of GONG kites. Since our bars are compatible with a wide range of kites, you can adapt your choice based on the type of kite used.

Line Length:

Your Feel-X bar comes standard with 80cm front lines, 19m of lines, and 3m extensions already mounted. The original setup is the most versatile and will be your best choice for 90% of your sessions.

One of the main advantages of the Feel-X bar is its great tolerance provided by its shape. By playing with its lengths, or even modifying them with our extensions (sold separately), you further enhance its versatility!

  • 22m Lines:
The "standard" length provides a more progressive and predictable bar feeling (recommended setting for progressing kiters). Your flight window will be larger, offering more power at takeoff. This is the setting to favor in light to medium wind conditions, and for everyday freeride use.
  • 19m Lines:
Shorter lines offer a more direct response from the kite, increasing its reactivity. The flight window will be shorter. This is the perfect setting for advanced kiters, especially for wave riding or foil for more agility. If you choose to ride with shorter lines, you will also gain comfort in high wind conditions.

Note that 22m and 19m are not extreme line lengths and remain a fine adjustment to your piloting sensation.

Frequent questions
Is the Ayto a beginner-friendly kite?
No, the Ayto does not provide the very "raw" feedback needed by those in the progression phase with very direct bar feedback. Its relaunch is also not the simplest for those who are not experienced.
Is the Ayto a kite for pros?
Without compromise, the Ayto is for high-level riders. Its high aspect ratio and liveliness make it an excellent kite that is not suitable for those still progressing. It's truly the ultimate big air kite.
What inflation pressure?
You should consider certain elements: • An under-inflated kite will be unstable and difficult to control in gusty winds. Redeployment will also be more complicated with a kite that does not maintain its shape. • An over-inflated kite increases the risk of explosion during a crash and will fatigue the seams and materials of your kite more quickly. • If you leave your kite inflated in the sun for a long period, we recommend slightly deflating it to reduce the risk of seam fatigue.
Kite with or without pulleys?
The Ayto is a pro kite dedicated to big air and kite loops. Its pulley-less bridling, like the Elips, gives it a hyper-responsive and direct behavior. We have opted for a short bridling without pulleys. This type of bridling is both the lightest and the most durable. It reduces drag for a kite that's even more responsive. Plus, it facilitates relaunching by minimizing the risk of snagging.
Compatibility of bars?
The Ayto has been designed to work with the FeelX bar. Our bar features 4 lines of equal lengths and a low V at the front lines. The attachments for the lines at the bridle level are: • Kite-side loops for the front lines. • Kite-side knots for the back lines.
How to maintain my kite equipment?
To increase the longevity of your kite equipment, the way you use it and its regular maintenance are crucial. A key point during usage is not to leave your kite inflated for long periods without use! Flapping of the fabric in the wind can cause premature wear of the materials, as can prolonged exposure to UV rays. Frequent rinsing of your kite with running water is also not recommended. The chlorine present in tap water can alter the surface treatments of your kite. However, it is advisable to store your kite dry and remove any excess sand. Always rinse your bar with clean water to remove sand and salt. Also, remember to open the safety release mechanism to rinse its interior. Let it dry before reassembling. In case of a pierced strut or leading edge, use your repair kit, or check our spare parts to order the replacement piece. Systematically inspect the condition of your kite. Identify any holes or tears and have them repaired before they worsen. If you have damaged your kite due to improper use, you can have it repaired directly at the GONG workshop.
