Program

The easy stab to fly forever.

Introduction

The Sirus stab is the extreme aspect ratio stab designed to provide maximum glide and lift at low speeds.

In lightwind conditions, for pumping, and in small waves, this stab significantly improves the speed-to-energy ratio.

Despite its large wingspan compared to its surface area, this high aspect ratio stab is paradoxically designed not to hinder rail-to-rail performance. Similar to the Sirus front wing, the volume and surface area are centered beneath the foiler’s stance. This allows the extremely thin tips to be free, enabling precise and effortless foil control. This design saves the rider a considerable amount of energy.

The fuselage is elongated along the stab section as it increases in size, enhancing leverage on the front wing. The foil maintains a stable and long glide, reducing the frequency of pumping oscillations, thereby minimizing strain on the rider’s cardio and achieving record-breaking distances!

The profile of this stab is nearly symmetrical for optimal glide. However, the angle of attack is the highest in the range to keep some lift. Ideal for pumping, light wind, and small wave conditions, this stab offers impressive glide and exceptional lift!

When combined with our large front wings, you will shatter your records!

Choosing the right size

The Sirus stabs are versatile and will be the perfect complement to a very large front wing. They are highly effective at low speeds and will increase your pumping efficiency and glide.

For Wingfoiling or SUP foiling, always match the size of the stab to the size of the front wing for a balanced flight. An XXL stab with an XXL front wing will create a perfectly balanced setup.

During dock starts or flat starts, you will need to consider your riding speed when selecting the setup. At low speeds, such as during a flat start with a giant front wing, a smaller stab will be more maneuverable and create less drag. However, your front wing won’t reach the speed at which the pitching couple comes into play. If your goal is endurance, maintaining a good balance is still necessary.

Construction

Our wings and stabs are made of 90% Prepreg 12K carbon, with more than 15 layers of carbon fiber in total. High tension points such as the joints and connections are reinforced with Kevlar to resist tearing and glass for tolerance. Molded at high pressure and high temperature on a foam core, our wings and stabs are practically indestructible. Both rigid and floating, they are the perfect balance between contained weight and infinite durability.

All our wings and stabs have soft “tips”. Their ends are rounded and bulky to minimize danger. We still invite you to exercise great caution. Similarly, the trailing edges are blunt to avoid being sharp.

Wing tips are a potential source of danger. We take care not to produce an intrinsically dangerous design, within the limits of efficient hydrodynamics. The trailing edges can be sharp (the only solution to achieve the expected performance by users), especially if they are damaged or if you sharpen them. We invite you to be extremely careful despite these precautions because these parts remain sharp and dangerous by nature. Stay away, wear the proper protections, and never sharpen them. Systematically repair the slightest hitch in the outline because it represents a danger for you and others if it were to cut your leash for example. In all situations, the greatest caution is required. If in doubt, abstain (waves, strong wind, etc.).

Carbon HM Stab Technology

High Module Carbon offers unparalleled rigidity, representing the pinnacle of performance in our most advanced wings and masts, which face the most demanding structural constraints.

By combining High Module with Intermediate Module, we offer the best performance at the best price.

The products have no flex, the fibers are oriented along multiple axes to lock in bending and torsion, ensuring maximum responsiveness.

Thanks to pre-impregnated fibers, we can guarantee optimal resin usage, providing perfect cohesion at the lightest possible weight.

Each layer of carbon is carefully hand-assembled around a high-density hydrophobic foam core, in a steel mold. A central stiffener is integrated to increase rigidity without compromising on lightness.

The mold is then subjected to high pressure and heated to 150°C to solidify the carbon. The foam core, seeking to expand under the heat, ensures even compression between the carbon layers, ensuring a strong and durable structure.

Durability and repairability are at the heart of our development philosophy. Our foils are tested and proven by dozens of team riders, hundreds of employees, and thousands of customers worldwide. Even in case of damage, our products can be repaired multiple times, ensuring exceptional longevity.

Buying guide

For whom?

This stab is designed for intermediate to expert foilers who want a high-performance stab to maximize their flight time during sessions, whether it’s for dock starts, surf foiling in small waves, or wing foiling in light wind conditions.

What for?

These stabs have been designed to allow you to increase the number of sessions you can have throughout the year. The days when the waves and wind were too weak to do anything are now a thing of the past.

With a clever profile and fuselage design, they enable early takeoff, accommodate a wide range of riding speeds, and are highly efficient during pumping maneuvers.

Which size?

The Sirus stabs are quite user-friendly despite their high aspect ratio. Choose the size that you typically prefer for your GONG gear.

Always adjust the size of the stab to match the size of the front wing for a balanced flight.

The 40 cm, with an area of 160 cm2, a thickness of 0.62 cm, and a volume of 0.05L.

  • In surf foiling, this stab offers incredible glide, allowing for increased speed without compromising pumping comfort.
  • In SUP foiling, it provides high speed and remains highly efficient during pumping maneuvers, considering its surface area. It is ideal for fast downwind rides on steep swells.
  • In wing foiling, the stab accelerates while maintaining an impressive low-end range. It’s perfect for gusty conditions, allowing you to maintain flight even in lighter winds.

The 45 cm, with an area of 210 cm2, a thickness of 0.70 cm, and a volume of 0.08L.

  • In surf foiling, it offers an excellent compromise between pumping and maneuverability.
  • In SUP foiling, it provides a great balance of comfort during pumping, speed, and maneuverability. It is ideal when the waves have some push.
  • In wing foiling, it is a versatile stab that offers comfort and stability in turns while allowing for high maximum speed.

The 50 cm, with an area of 250 cm2, a thickness of 0.70 cm, and a volume of 0.09L.

  • In surf foiling, it is the best stab for connecting small waves endlessly, especially when paired with a Sirus L or XL front wing.
  • In SUP foiling, it is highly efficient during pumping and can be combined with a pumping-specific front wing with a wingspan of less than 1.50m.
  • In wing foiling, it is perfect for light wind conditions when paired with a large front wing.

The 56 cm, with an area of 320 cm2, a thickness of 0.78 cm, and a volume of 0.12L.

  • In surf foiling, it is best suited for larger riders with large front wings.
  • In SUP foiling, it is the optimal choice for successfully taking off on flatwater with a Cruzader and a pumping-specific front wing.
  • In wing foiling, it is perfect for light wind conditions when paired with a large front wing.

The 63 cm, with an area of 360 cm2, a thickness of 0.78 cm, and a volume of 0.14L.

  • In surf foiling, it is considered too large and is reserved for the most extreme front wings.
  • In SUP foiling, it provides the most lift, allowing for early takeoff with paddle power.
  • In wing foiling, it is perfect as a complement to a giant front wing, enabling takeoff in micro gusts of wind.

What quiver?

The Sirus stab will unleash its full potential when paired with a large pumping-specific front wing and a board designed for maximum glide like the Cruzader.

Foil positioning

For beginners using GONG foils, place the foil plate at the rear third of the board for surfing, stand-up paddleboarding (SUP), and kiteboarding. In wing foiling, position it in the middle of the US tracks.

The further forward you place the foil, the more it will pitch the board upward. Conversely, moving it back will cause the board’s nose to dive.

With high-ratio stabs like the Sirus, you may still need to move the foil forward often as they provide less lift, especially at slower speeds. Be careful not to go to the extreme, as it can result in an odd ride and may indicate that your stab is too small. This could lead to whistling noises despite having a perfect trailing edge. It’s common to neglect the rear foot’s role, especially for those transitioning from kite foiling. However, moving the foil back a bit forces you to put more weight on the rear foot, resulting in a more harmonious attitude and reduced effort.
