Wings for fast surfing and high speed downwinders!

Introduction

The Veloce is the front wing that will make you evolve at high speed during your sessions. Perfect for long and intense curves, committed surfing and fast swells, the Veloce also has great pop and allows you to launch sky-high on the slightest bump.

It’s a downwind machine. The glide and pumping on the Veloce are simply incredible. Qualities that make you connect bumps effortlessly whether you are on wing or SUP foil gear. It feels lifty but never as if it was holding you back. It flies on swell bumps at incredible speed thanks to its fast and forgiving profile. It always feels comfortable, in the overspeed phases as in the low speed phases.

In surf / SUP foiling, its performance in pumping will amaze you. In the larger sizes, the front wing flies towards the next set without burning out your energy. In the smaller sizes it’s a rocket on the trim line that allows you to exit the wave at full speed towards the next one. Fast turns are its forte.

Obviously this is what makes it absolutely perfect for tow-in sessions. It goes fast, it is safe, it is easy to handle and stable in very tight curves.

In wing foiling it takes off very early for such a fast front wing. The lift is such that you can undersize it by 200cm² compared to its previous generation. This goes to show how early it will take off in the larger sizes.

Paired with a Cruzader, you enter a new dimension: that of the apparent wind +++. Only a few knots of wind feel like you’re sailing in 15 knots. It’s stunning and so fun. Making tacks, jibes and 360s in between two surfed waves goes with total confidence thanks to its formidable capacity for acceleration.

For the bigger riders, it is the front wing that allows them to have fun by raising the average speed without the physical and technical difficulties of a die-hard racing front wing.

For the lightweights, it’s an endless glide… in pumping as in freestyle.

This dock start animal can do it all. This versatility, which it owes to its perfect blend of speed and carving, makes it a quiver essential.

GONG | Foil Allvator Front Wing Veloce
Shape
Ratio

As its name suggests, the Veloce increases the tempo of your sessions. Faster, more lively, but it remains a real surfer.

To make it happen, the Veloce comes in a moderately high aspect ratio with a curved leading edge, a very straight trailing edge, a slightly negative camber and twisted up tips which offer a high level top speed but which is also capable of impressive carvings.

Its aspect ratio of 7.5 means that the Veloce is very close to a high aspect ratio. It sits just below the aspect ratio of a Ypra S! This moderately high aspect ratio preserves maneuverability thanks to a contained wingspan and forgiveness with more concentrated volume, while offering a capacity for speed and a glide far superior to low aspect ratio wings.

This aspect ratio is maintained throughout the range to always offer the same feeling underfoot when changing size to adapt to the conditions.

Outline

The outline of the Veloce is divided into two parts.

A very curved leading edge for smooth turns. This shape facilitates rail to rail by making it progressive (the tip engages easily into the water).

A straight trailing edge that unlocks the foil in pitch for very efficient pumping and great responsiveness. We can thus react in a split second to the movements of the ocean.

Thickness of the profile

The Veloce front wings have a moderate volume that is evenly distributed over the wingspan for a very smooth, progressive and predictable behavior.

You can use larger wing surfaces for lift and glide for long downwinders. Or use smaller and more radical sizes for tow-in sessions, for example. This foil can totally handle powerful and hollow waves on the bigger days.

The volume of the front wing is set back to refine the leading edge and allow it to accept a lot of speed. It really is a must-have on fast swells.

The fine and slightly twisted tips provide very precise and very progressive steering to be able to attack curves at high speed. This twisting helps to get into the curve and relieves excessive lift.

The type of profile

The modernized profile with a set back volume offers better efficiency and an optimized glide, which allows both a longer hold of flights and to reach crazy speeds.

The rear third of the extrado is the key point of this new profile. With more volume on this part, the front wing glides longer for the same effort. Top speed is slightly affected but you enjoy a lot more length between two pumping strokes and a lot more lift at low speed. Another striking point: the front wing recovers flight incredibly well. If you fly too high, it will stall but recover on its own, without you even realizing it. Ditto in landings where it takes off again in a flash.

The max width has been moved back for more top speed, but also more roundness in its behavior (less ON/OFF).

In surf foiling you don’t get overwhelmed at the take-off.

In wing foiling it takes off easily and you recover flight cleanly after a jump without violent re-pop.

The trailing edge is supercritical to reduce drag as much as possible and tolerate crazy speeds without saturating.

Camber

The dihedral is very slightly negative to provide total (and essential) control in high-speed curves. You never feel the wing escaping or slipping away. The grip is clear. At the ends, the tips go up and make the front wing manageable for an intuitive rail to rail. We can link wide and fast curves together in an ultra natural way.

Pro Clear Front Wing Technology

Carbon fiber is the Holy Grail of composite materials. Its use allows for the creation of products with high technical constraints. This enables both thickness reduction and increased rigidity, providing more speed and responsiveness in navigation.

These wings have no flex. Fibers are oriented along multiple axes to lock in bending and torsion, ensuring maximum responsiveness.

Thanks to pre-impregnated fibers, we can guarantee optimal resin usage, providing perfect cohesion at the lightest weight possible.

Each layer of carbon fiber is carefully hand-assembled around a high-density hydrophobic foam core, in a steel mold. A central stiffener is integrated to increase rigidity without compromising on lightness.

The mold is then subjected to high pressure and heated to 150°C to solidify the fibers. The foam core, seeking to expand under the heat, ensures even compression between the layers, guaranteeing a strong and durable structure.

Durability and repairability are at the heart of our development philosophy. Our foils are tested and proven by dozens of team riders, hundreds of employees, and thousands of customers worldwide. Even in case of damage, our products can be repaired multiple times, ensuring exceptional longevity.

Buying guide

For whom ?

If you have an advanced level and a committed style of sailing / surfing and like to mix speed and carves, then the Veloce is perfect for you.

It will bring you a high speed of evolution on the water; will allow you to send ultra fast curves, and will let you fly effortlessly to connect swell bumps on end during downwinders!

What for ?

Flying with a lot of speed left to spare, a magical glide, while maintaining a true surfy feel in maneuvers: the guarantee of ultra-efficient performance.

The Veloce is made for surfing fast swells, handling high speeds without ever being limited in the low range either, with an incredible glide to perform in downwinders and pumping.

In detail for each «sport»:

  • In wing foiling: the Veloce offers the perfect mix of high speed and carving. It excels in downwinders thanks to its limitless glide and effortless pumping. It is also great in fast waves for its stability at high speed. We have a feeling of ease where some wings are too much to handle in such use. So you can go all in and radicalize your surfing at will. In jumps, the pop is perfect and the repop very effective.
  • In surf foiling: the Veloce is made for powerful waves or for dynamic surfers. A front wing with a high potential for speed but which offers all the control necessary not to be overwhelmed. In the larger sizes it allows to connect the waves easily thanks to its ultra efficient pumping. So it will either be a mean little wing or a magic glider.
  • In SUP foiling: the Veloce will be perfect for doing offshore downwinders and connecting bumps easily while maintaining flight in moments of transition.
  • In kite foiling: the Veloce is a wing that goes fast and can handle solid carves in surfing. Ideal for a radical ride but with lift. The speed limit is the one you set yourself because the more you push it, the more it will accelerate.

Which shape ? Veloce or Veloce H?

The use for the Veloce and Veloce H is a similar one: to surf with an unbridled foil in roll that isn’t excessively wild. It remains manageable but with a formidable glide. These qualities allow for versatility on all types of water bodies and excellence in the waves.

Choosing the one or the other will depend on the glide you want out of it and the size that appeals to you. The Veloce H will offer an insane glide, while the Veloce will offer a more natural rail to rail to link tighter turns together but above all less technical. Either way, they’re magical surf FWs with a crazy glide and an outrageous speed potential.

To put it simply, the Veloce H has more aspect ratio and will allow you to glide longer, to reach even higher speeds but will be less efficient than a Veloce in turns and will be less easy to make take off.

A few examples about choosing the Veloce or the Veloce H

  •  You’re new to downwinders, be it on wing or SUP foiling gear, choose the Veloce.
  •  You have a good level in surf / SUP foiling and dock start on flat days, choose the Veloce H.
  •  You want a good mix of speed / handling, favor the Veloce.
  •  You have a good level in wing foiling with downwinders / freeflying as a priority, go for the Veloce H.
  •  You favor ease on the take-off, choose the Veloce.
  •  You like to glide, to feel that the foil is flying at full speed on waves or on speed runs, whether on in wing foiling or a kite foiling: Veloce H.

What size ?

The Veloce front wings can fit riders of all sizes.

The S has a 73 cm wingspan, 700 cm², 1,4 cm thickness for a volume of 0,52L.

  • For surf foiling it is small and therefore radical. It’s a wing that is both fast and very easy to handle which allows either to score in fast waves, or to be fast and radical in normal waves when you know how to surf with an attitude. It’s a great tow-in front wing on big wave days.
  • For wing foiling it is the ideal small front wing to surf a fast wave, and as it lifts a lot it is accessible for a light person. A bigger rider with a good level will love it in powerful waves.
  • For kite foiling: it’s great if you want to break the sound barrier ? without having to struggle on an excessively radical FW. The Veloce is quite forgiving.

The M has a 82 cm wingspan, 900 cm², 1,6 cm thickness for a volume of 0,74L.

  • For surf foiling it’s great for light and fit surfers who want to rip everything apart in hollow waves or in normal waves for those who know how to handle a foil in a high speed range.
  • For wing foiling this is the key size for classic sessions. Small but very stable and with a big lift in relation to its surface. It’s really great for windy downwinders, it allows you to engage in very short turns and to position yourself perfectly on the swell. In the waves the top speed / carving ratio is just perfect.
  • For kite foiling: it is great for a large number of riders into long speed runs and easy tacks. It has lift and yet it is fast and maneuverable.

 The L has a 91cm wingspan, 1100 cm², 1,7 cm thickness for a volume of 1,00L.

  • For surf foiling it is suitable for the majority of surfers who already have a good level and who want a wing capable of handling high speeds and connecting thanks to efficient pumping. It is either the “small” front wing for a strong paddler, or a large one for a lightweight who wants to turn and go fast on the wave and in pumping.
  • For downwinders it is a small wing, perfect for fast swells and strong winds.
  • For wing foiling it is perfect for an advanced rider who wants to surf fast waves or surf soft waves with speed, do downwinders with a high evolution speed, and keep maneuverability in turns. Really cool too for tacks and jibes.
  • For kite foiling: too much wingspan for kiting, we advise against it even if the surface is ok.

The XL has a 99 cm wingspan, 1300 cm², 1,9 cm thickness for a volume of 1,29L.

  • For surf foiling it is a large wing that is suitable for light riders who want a performance wing that is fast in pumping to connect a maximum of waves. The big riders will love it because it is fast enough to position itself in the most powerful areas without being overwhelming, and it is still very maneuverable for a FW that flies in the waves and in pumping.
  • For downwinders it is a key size in wind and identifiable bumps. We go fast while remaining opportunistic with this great maneuverability which allows us to exploit each slope.
  • For wing foiling it’s perfect for an advanced rider who wants to fly early, go fast and surf the swell on light wind days. Its glide is magical. It takes off in very little wind, allows fast speed runs and tacks, and racing jibes. And if you like freeflying, it is one of the very best at this game!!!
  • For kite foiling: to forget, it’s too big.

The XXL has a 106 cm wingspan, 1500 cm², 2,0 cm thickness for a volume of 1,58L.

  • For surf foiling it is a large wing which is suitable for strong people. You can cover great distances by pumping. It is a super efficient wing in surfing due to its great finesse and great lift. It excels in soft waves where it will produce a lot of speed and therefore turning capabilities. The surface area to wingspan ratio is awesome with this maneuverability. A light rider will love it to connect waves in pumping. It will be almost unstoppable!!!
  • For wing foiling it is a large size that allows you to have fun without worrying in light wind. You can take off very early and pick up speed very easily. Its high top speed means you have speed to spare to survive the lulls. For a dynamic rider, it’s really perfect. And in freefly in light conditions it is THE reference.
  • For kite foiling: always too big ?

General: a bigger front wing will be used in low ranges, in soft conditions. And conversely a smaller front wing in stronger conditions. What you need to remember is that the choice of your wing depends on your size, which requires lift, and your average speed, which generates lift.

Understand our foil range

Which stab ?

We recommend using Veloce H stabs with all Veloce front wings. Use stabs that have some surface area because the H stabilizers remain thin. So do not undersize them.

This table allows you to easily identify which stab for which front wing, or which stab for a quiver of several Veloce front wings.

Which quiver ?

With a Veloce, an Alu or a Carbon V2 mast are sufficient because the wingspan of these wings is moderate in small sizes. But it is obvious that with an HM mast you will gain a lot of stiffness. Indispensable if you really are powerful in curves or on large sizes, an HM carbon mast will allow you to transmit 100% of the forces to the front wing. The gain in stiffness and dynamism is incredible.

In surf foiling, you can use any board from our range with the Veloce, but to be more maneuverable, a performance board like the Matata or the Lethal will be perfect.

Ditto in wing foiling, it can be adapted to everything but it is more in the tempo of a short board.

For downwinders on a SUP foil, it will work perfectly with a Cruzader which will allow you to gain a lot of speed to settle on the swell before takeoff.

Positioning of the foil ?

For the GONG foils, place the top plate at the rear third of the US rails for surf, SUP and kite foiling. Place it in the middle of the US rails when using it for wing foiling.

The more you move it forward, the more it makes the board pitch up. The further you move it backwards, the more the nose of the board dives.

Be careful not to move it too far forward. We often tend to forget to use the back foot, especially when we have a kite foil background. However, moving the foil back a little forces you to put more weight on the back foot and gives a more harmonious attitude and reduces effort.

Warning:

The practice of the Foil carries risks of major accidents. A bad mastery of the Foil can cause cuts, serious wounds, even death, for you and/or others.

The Foil must be practiced taking all the precautions when used in Kite because they are increased in comparison to those related to the Foilsurf. Remember that the Foil is long, sharp, and can reach high speeds. To be hit by a Foil, or to strike a third party can have dramatic consequences.

Foil always far from others, in safe and unobstructed water.

The Foil is mainly used in the light wind. This one can fall and force you to go swimming. Therefore, do not overestimate your strengths: never go further than what you can swim under present and announced conditions.

Wear a helmet and protective jacket to ensure your buoyancy. Always wear a full neoprene wetsuit.

When handling the foil, be careful not to cut yourself on the trailing edges.

GONG declines all responsibility in the event of an accident involving a GONG Foil. The Foil practice and its benefits/consequences is under the sole responsibility of the Foil user.
