Take off super early with perfect balance and a compact length.

Presentation

The shapes of downwind boards have truly changed the perspective on spots and weather around the world. Now there are zero days off!

With the new Cruzader Diamond, we offer a shape that is both high-performing and accessible, with a compact length designed for use in SUPfoil and Wing activities.

Flying in 6 knots with a 5m2 sail, surfing in 30cm waves, pumping to take off on the flat, cruising in downwind conditions, jumping like in windsurfing, and flying full tilt with a double-skin wing… The Cruzader Diamond is the board that makes all these activities easier than ever.

Its concept features a “double tail” with a wide diamond at the top. This stabilizes the board when stationary and boosts takeoff efficiency whether paddling or in the bumps. It has a planing hull that maximizes glide and minimizes the impact of touchdowns.

Modern and responsive, it provides sensations similar to a shorter board since the foil and rider are centered: the nose is short in front of the feet, ensuring high reactivity.

Available in eight sizes ranging from 5’6 to 7’1, accommodating volumes from 70L to 150L, the Cruzader Diamond perfectly adapts to your size, whether in SUP downwind/surf or in Wing freeride/downwind/waveriding/race

If freestyle didn’t exist, it would be the ultimate all-in-one board.

Innovation through practice

The compact sizes of the Cruzader Diamond and Point boards embody a new emerging trend in wing foiling. If you are an intermediate to expert winger, dedicating your practice entirely to carving through swell or on waves, you are likely looking for boards that will allow you to use the smallest wing and foil possible. You are also seeking boards that are as narrow as possible but close to the 5′ mark for minimal interference in your turns and maneuvers. Inspired directly by the shapes of larger-sized downwind SUPs, this trend aims to capitalize on the exceptional planing ability of such shapes but in “miniature” versions. Once again, GONG pioneers by introducing two series models, available in over 10 sizes smaller than 6′, ideal for pure gliding in wing foiling.

Shape
Outline

An outline worth two. When you step onto the Cruzader Diamond, you immediately feel the stability provided by its outline and the upper part of the diamond tail. Once you stand up, you only feel the hull and its excellent glide, allowing you to take off effortlessly. In the waves, the responsiveness of your centered stance and the compact design of the Cruzader Diamond enable you to push the radicalness of your turns even further, even in 6 knots or 30cm waves.

Rocker

Thanks to a fairly flat rocker, sharp and straight rails, the glide of the Cruzader Diamond is optimal, allowing you to ride any foil size. From a 2000cm2 front wing in super light conditions to the 600cm2 wing that gets you airborne 5 knots earlier than on another board, the choice is limitless. The very relaxed rocker and slim outline provide all the characteristics needed for racing mode, boosting your speed record.

Hull

A perfectly flat hull at the rear with the contacting surface being pintailed for ultimate glide.

Tail

Diamond tail on the deck for increased stability and boosted takeoffs, and pin tail on the hull for excellent glide.

Nose

Rounded point nose to combine maximum responsiveness with a touch of comfort, enhanced by the volume of the nose.

Buying guide

Who is it for?

For SUP foiling, you need to have a good skill level, especially when paddling and especially in choppy conditions: it’s very technical.

For wing foiling, it’s “easy” but requires athleticism.

A board for everyone, not just for professionals. Simply aim for the right size.

Why choose the Cruzader Diamond?

The Cruzader Diamond is a pure SUP foiling board designed for downwind runs and surfing. In waves, it’s a fabulous concept that allows you to take off well before the wave breaks and ride consecutive surfs for long minutes, seamlessly pumping from one line to another.

It’s also an incredible board for wing foiling in downwind, waves, freeride, freerace, and freefly. We’ve pushed the limits of wing foiling in light winds with the Cruzaders, opening new perspectives for designing even more versatile boards, highly performant in wing foiling, and suitable for use in waves, downwind, and freerace, even in strong winds.

So, it’s clearly the board for those who want to be on the water every day: never miss a session due to equipment or weather. And being narrow, it excels in all performance aspects, including achieving high speeds in wing foiling or downwind, thanks to fantastic high-speed control. Remember that on the Cruzader, it’s easy to fly a smaller foil.

It’s truly an excellent board for light wind wing foil racing, say under 20 knots. We optimize takeoff so effortlessly that using a small foil in light wind is a breeze. The speed is impressive.

Ideal for surfing on soft bumps, it allows you to make the most of mediocre days and also engage in downwind surfing. In wing foiling, it’s the ultimate tool for flying in light wind and, with the smaller sizes, even in strong wind for those who prioritize pure glide.

And on flat, windless water, it’s a fantastic toy for getting in shape and having fun with friends, flying with a huge foil using just the paddle.

What board size?

The Cruzader Diamond is the ultimate SUP board. However, by playing with volumes, it can be adapted to your needs.

In SUP foiling, it is imperative to have a significantly positive volume balance. The combined weight of the rider and the board must be less than the volume of the board. Don’t hesitate to opt for a bit more volume and width if you’re unsure of your balance.

A confirmed and athletic SUPer would choose a volume sufficient to float with a margin, around their weight + 30 or + 40 = volume.

  • For example, if I weigh 80 kg + 40 = 120 L to float, it means that with a 120 L board, I will float, provided I have a good level in SUP foiling. If comfort is a priority, it would be wise to add width and length.

A pro would choose a volume sufficient to float, around their weight + 10 or + 20 = volume.

  • For example, if I weigh 80 kg + 10 = 90 L to float, it means that with a 90 L board, I will float, provided I have a good level in SUP foiling. If comfort is a priority, it would be necessary to add 20 L instead of 10 L, thus switching to the 100 L.

In wing foiling, you can go for a generous volume to have a versatile and easy board. However, if you already have a good level, on the contrary, you will seek a volume limit following the same rule as in SUP foiling above.

Comfort:

You can choose a volume sufficient to float, roughly your weight + 10 or more = board volume.

  • Example: I weigh 75kg + 10 = 85L to float. This means that with 85L and more, I will be at ease, provided I have a good level in winging.

Sport:

You can also underlitre it to gain responsiveness. It requires a superb skill level and a desire for maximum responsiveness to transition to “negative” volumes, meaning your weight > volume.

Up to your weight – 15 = volume, you can easily start kneeling by leaning slightly on the wing on the water.

  • Example 1: I weigh 75kg = 75L to slightly underlitre, and it remains simple. This means that with 70L, my board will slightly sink when stationary, and I will need to be precise and athletic at each takeoff.

In competition, our team uses between 10L and 15L less than their weight. This is currently the compromise that offers them the most performance because it boosts responsiveness and secures landings.

  • Example 2: I weigh 75kg, and I take 65L to underlitre without going to a pure sinker. This means that with 65L, my board will partially sink when stationary, and I will need to be very precise and athletic at each takeoff.

Sinker

At your weight – 30 = volume, you’ll need to start with the board sinking: it’s technical, very physical, and you lose some of the low wind range. And most importantly: you need depth, which can be annoying. The performance gain is debatable based on your skill level, but the gain in sensations and responsiveness is interesting for some. It’s also the best way to have lightweight equipment, which is essential for pros, especially for stronger individuals.

  • Example: I weigh 75kg – 30 = 45L to use my board in Sinker mode. This means that with 65L and less, my board will completely sink, and I’ll have to start with the help of the wing to get out of the water. In this case, less volume often makes things easier because you sink the board effortlessly to place it under your feet and get on top of it. A smaller board creates less buoyancy, making it simpler to put on and less prone to takeoff. Its stability qualities on the surface remain the same underwater.

Ultimately, the most unstable volume is often around 20L less than your weight.

Equipments

SCS System

Equipped with the extra-long XL foil box system (+10cm) for the SCS system, the Cruzaders provide an extensive range of adjustments, allowing for optimal use in Wing and SUP foil activities.

Multiple inserts

The numerous strap inserts (13 strips of 5 inserts) allow you to mount the straps in SUP or Wing configurations. They also meet the common demand for offset rear inserts for more natural support in surfing or freefly. With the Cruzaders, you have a ready-made solution.

The set of footstraps is offered with the board. Since 2023 we have reviewed the outline of our straps to further improve comfort. Developed for wing foiling, these straps with less cover do not bend when put on.

More rigid, they offer a more precise steering but are still as comfortable. There is less surface area on the feet so there is less risk of staying stuck in the straps or banging your foot on the edge of the strap when rushing into it. It also allows better leeward control (tip of the foot) and therefore a more natural attitude in wing foiling.
We have worked on every detail to improve your experience on the water.

The V-shaped footstraps perfectly center the foot on the front of the board. The position is thus more natural and allows direct and precise control in maneuvers.

For 2023, our SCS system launched on the HIPE is integrated on all our foil boards. It’s beautiful, efficient and above all it saves time you can spend on the water. With its 4 entries, the GONG double entry box facilitates the assembly and adjustment of the foil. Performance without the hassle. We leave the nuts and the screws on the plate, just insert the foil, screw and off we go! Setting up the foil is much faster and easier. It is the plug and play solution which facilitates adjustments!(inserts not supplied with the board).

A handle developed by our R&D and our ergonomics engineer has been integrated into our boards this year. We can better close our hands in it: a firmer and more comfortable grip. The depressurization screw is directly integrated into the handle.

It is placed on the hull to allow one-handed carrying. You can have the wing in the other hand to get past the whitewater or to get out of the water. And as we always do things seriously, the handle is placed in a block of hydrophobic PVC foam and covered with fiber.

The top-of-the-range 5mm thick integral pad provides maximum grip and comfort when sailing, while protecting the board from shocks. This hard brush pad sublimates the board. This flat pad provides absolute comfort and a magical grip with more precision. This is obvious on long sessions: the feet are less tired.

Included equipments :

  • 2 US GONG Box Double Entry for standard foil plates equipped with 4 screw + nuts (9cm center distance). Compatible with our SCS system. This new system allows ultra-fast assembly of GONG foils.(inserts not supplied with the board).
  • 13 x 5-hole footstrap inserts to optimize your position.
  • 1 x large light double V-shaped front footstrap and 1 x large light rear footstrap (screws included).
  • 5 mm pad : deck covering designed for great comfort and absolute grip.
  • GONG carrying handle integrated in the center of the board on the hull.
  • Leash plug to never lose your board.
  • Automatic vent screw. (link to the HOW TO)

Warning

When you practice foil you expose yourself to possible serious risks. A poor mastering of a foil can expose you to cuts and/or serious bodily harm, even death for yourself and possibly others around you.

Foiling should be practiced, in all circumstances, by taking precautions and taking into consideration all that is involved and associated with surf/SUP sports. Remember that a foil is long and has an edge that could cause slicing and is capable of reaching very high speeds. Getting hit by a foil, or hitting another, can have dramatic and highly unwanted consequences.

Always foil far from others, and in waters that are secure and without obstacle.

Always wear a helmet andprotective vest that assures floatability. Always wear a full body neoprene wetsuit.

When handling and manipulating a foil be careful not to cut yourself along its edges.

GONG does not accept and declines any and all responsibility in case of accident that implicates a GONG foil. The practicing of this sport and the use of our equipment makes the user fully responsable for his/her actions while being a foil user.
