Carbon Pro Clear Mast Technology

Carbon fiber is the pinnacle of composite materials. Its use allows for the creation of products with high technical constraints, enabling both thickness reduction and increased rigidity, thereby offering more speed and responsiveness in navigation.

These masts have no flex. Fibers are oriented along multiple axes to lock in bending and torsion, ensuring maximum responsiveness.

Thanks to pre-impregnated fibers, we can guarantee optimal resin usage, providing perfect cohesion at the lightest weight possible.

Each layer of carbon is carefully hand-assembled around a high-density hydrophobic foam core, in a steel mold. A central stiffener is integrated to increase rigidity without compromising on lightness.

The mold is then subjected to high pressure and heated to 150°C to solidify the fibers. The foam core, seeking to expand under the heat, ensures even compression between the layers, guaranteeing a strong and durable structure.

Durability and repairability are at the heart of our development philosophy. Our foils are tested and proven by dozens of team riders, hundreds of employees, and thousands of customers worldwide. Even in case of damage, our products can be repaired multiple times, ensuring exceptional longevity.

Carbon prepreg is a carbon fabric that has been pre-impregnated with the exact dose of resin needed to achieve its best performance. The manufacturer of this premium fabric freezes the set that we cut out with templates. Then we apply layer after layer in the mold. During baking, the resin takes all its bonding strength to bind the layers. So you have no excess resin, no sagging, no imperfection that you would have if the resin was applied by hand. And above all, you have a dynamism boosted by a minimum quantity of resin which does not let the carbon “float” in an excess of resin.

The Foam Core is an essential element. First, because it floats. Secondly, because it is waterproof. Finally, because it allows us a clever dosage of compression during molding to give maximum cohesion to the prepreg carbon layers. Overall it is stronger and lighter than a full mast.

Between the Foam Core and the carbon layers, we add Unidirectional carbon stringers (UD). The gain in rigidity is significant with these “beams” which support the mast.

Everything is pressed and baked in a steel mold, a true work of art at $ 25,000. Aluminum molds are more economical but deform, which is why we don’t use them. You will understand that performance involves investments which justify the slightly higher prices of our carbon masts, but still much cheaper than competing products.

Our foils are fully removable to adapt to all sports at a lower cost and give you the opportunity to replace a damaged part. A complete catalog of spare parts is available, to allow you to make it compatible with multiple supports (surf / SUP / kite / wing), and to explore the entire range of use of the foil in each sport and at all levels.

Note in this regard that GONG is at the forefront of the development of foils. We were behind the creation of the biggest foil factory that produces the major brands today. 18 months of intense work and dozens of tools developed. So don’t imagine our foils are being made in a gloomy garage. We develop all our products according to the rules of the art, with many in-house engineers, passionate designers, cutting-edge 3D software, countless tests, with a team at the highest level. This is what allows us to offer low prices and refined products: we know what we are doing from A to Z. We do not sell foils designed by a freelancer. Our teams are stationed year round and dedicated to the development of our products.
