RAILEY

Coming from the wake and naturally taken up by kitesurfers, the railey quickly made a place for itself in wing foiling. The forward projection during take off provides great sensations and can make this jump particularly spectacular.

Wing foiler: Malo, GONG team rider, with the Droid and Lemon FSP Pro.

The key to this maneuver is speed and pop to trigger the jump. To succeed, you need to be relatively well powered and proceed as follows:

1. Identify a space without obstacles downwind as you will be thrown forward.

2. Gain speed sailing crosswind.

3. Regroup and sail upwind by pointing the board upwind while pulling on the back hand to trigger the pop that will take you off the ground.

4. When taking off keep pointing the nose of the board towards the wind.

5. Forcing the board to go upwind and jumping at the same time tilts you forward. At this point you have to pull on the heels and the board automatically puts itself in the axis of your body.

6. Arch yourself to give the raley some amplitude.

7. Keep sheeting in by putting both hands above your head to be supported for the descent.

8. As you re-descend, you should look for a downwind landing area, tilting the nose of the board slightly towards the water. This will allow a smooth landing.

9. When the foil hits the water, start to cushion the fall by grouping the legs again. Your body will act as a shock absorber.

10. Remember that your foil can be up to 100cm long, so the landing spot has to be deep enough ?

11. The success of your reception will depend on your attitude in the air. If you are too far behind you will land on your back. If you get too far forward, the board will nose down. You risk injuring yourself and breaking the gear.
