TECH HIGHLIGHT: HANDLES/BOOM COMPATIBILITY WITH GFS V1 AND V2 MOUNTS

Beyond full modularity across all grip options, the GFS V2 handle system is also fully backward compatible with earlier modular setups, on the simple condition of using the V2 Handle Support (part sold individually).

The GONG Fastening System (GFS) is a simple, reliable, and smart setup that lets you choose from a range of handle control options for your wing.

soft handles;
semi-rigid handles;
rigid handles;
a boom (Carbon, Full Carbon, two-part detachable).

The fastening parts are designed for a play-free assembly. They can be fully and easily disassembled in a matter of seconds. Handles are secured with two Torx screws into US boxes—just like the ones on your foil, using the same screw head. Everything’s built to be compatible, modular, and backward compatible.

Please note: Wings 2024 V2 are still equipped with the GFS V1 system as standard. Only from the 2025 wings onwards is the GFS V2 system used as standard. Intercompatibility is ensured by using the Handle Support corresponding to your handle system as explained below.

GFS V1 Versus GFS V2

In 2025, we upgraded our GFS V1 system to make it even better. With new mount and elbow geometries, GFS V2 delivers real improvements:

still zero play, but now with a firmer, more direct feel for tighter wing control.
boom mounts now offer 5x the contact surface for serious stiffness gains.
150 grams lighter for a set of handles and 40 grams saved on a boom.
setup is now even quicker and easier—still using your trusty Torx 30 foil key.
a sleek, unified design that’s as sharp as it is technical.

Backward compatibility

Just like with our foils—where backward-compatible fuselages ensure full V2/V3 part compatibility—we’re committed to letting you enjoy the latest innovations with your existing gear. That means you can use V2 handles and booms on older wings with the GFS V1 system, or even mount a V1 boom on a wing fitted with GFS V2.

How does it work? Super easy—just match the Handle Support to your Boom or handles.

If you have a V1 Boom or handle system, simply slide your V1 Handle Support under the fastening straps.

If you have a V2 Boom or handle system, simply slide your V2 Handle Support under the fastening straps.

If you're buying your Boom or handles separately from your wing, make sure to add the right Handle Support to your cart.

Both V1 and V2 Handle Supports work with the fastening straps on our 2023 wings using this system, as well as all 2024 and 2025 wings.
