GONG Fastening System
The fixing parts are designed for a play-free assembly. They are fully detachable in 30 seconds, making them adaptable and interchangeable with textile handles, rigid handles, or a boom.
The handles are attached with two Torx screws, inserted into US nuts: identical to those on your foil, with the same screw profile. Everything is designed for compatibility and modularity.
The handles are mounted on strap reinforcements that encircle the central strut, evenly distributing the forces across its full circumference. This system has been tested and reliable for years on our wings with textile handles. The assembly securely sandwiches the strap, ensuring maximum durability and eliminating any twisting.
To protect the wing from rigid components, we use Kevlar reinforcements, a very expensive material that offers unmatched abrasion resistance. We chose not to use sewn soft plastic, which has a poor lifespan in marine environments, under heavy loads, and due to UV exposure.
Our fixation parts are made of nylon reinforced with 20% fiberglass, ensuring exceptional durability. Additionally, this material reduces the risk of damaging your board: there's nothing worse than carbon hitting carbon. The nylon used in our handle elbows is perfectly rigid yet absorbs shock effectively.
Our system is really smart and leaves no room for play. It is perfectly rigid and impossible to come undone during navigation. No Velcro, no ropes, no fragile parts, no soft plastics that break after a year exposed to UVs—nothing that can fail during your ride. On the contrary, our parts enclose the straps that wrap around the entire central strut, ensuring total reliability proven over the years. There's no risk of the strut being ripped off by the handle after a few months...
