TEAM NEWS: POTENTIAL FIRST DAY OF ACTION IN LEUCATE

Riders on standby for the first Freefly-Slalom and Surf-Freestyle events of the 2024 season

As the first freestyle and racing events kick off in La Franqui, France, the GONG Team wasted no time and headed to Leucate weeks ahead to train at the event site. Over nearly two intense weeks marked by consistently strong conditions, often exceeding 30 knots, the team dedicated themselves tirelessly to prepare for the renowned Mondial Du Vent event.

Following a highly successful 2023 season, which saw the GONG team clinch multiple World Titles and podium finishes, they aim to build upon these achievements. Notably, they bolstered their roster by integrating the Freefly-Slalom World Champion, Francesco Cappuzzo, during the offseason in their team.

With Malo Guenole securing a commendable second place in last year’s Surf-Freestyle tour and Francesco clinching the top spot in Freefly-Slalom, along with Bastien Escofet’s third and fourth place finishes in Surf-Freestyle and Freefly-Slalom respectively, the team is primed for another intense battle for top honors in both disciplines.

Furthermore, the Big Air World Champion, Julian Rattotti, intends to assert himself in the Freefly-Slalom category after delivering stellar performances in racing events last year. Clement Hamon, following his impressive fourth-place finish in Brazil to conclude the 2023 season, seeks to elevate his game further, while Max Robinson aims to build upon his best-ever tour scores achieved in Brazil last year.

Currently, the event is on standby as riders await favorable wind conditions. The first race is scheduled for today, with moderate winds expected in the afternoon. Stay updated on our riders’ progress by following them on Instagram or checking our daily news updates as the event unfolds.
