Francesco, Julien and Bastien achieve a historic hat-trick on the Freefly-Slalom world tour!
The GONG team scored all podium positions in the Freefly-Slalom event hosted on the spot of Sotavento, Fuerteventura. The three GONG riders registered on the men's side for this second event of the Wing Foiling world tour got underway with a first, a second and a third place in the very first race of the day. A result that proved to be prophetic as it would later match their final performance. An impressive effort from start to finish which rewards their hard training and also phenomenal work from our development teams back home!

The victory of a team
Though the domination of the GONG team isn’t a complete surprise, as it had already put on a show on the first event in Leucate by finishing 1st, 2nd and 4th, it nevertheless drives the point home. The harmony between the riders and their equipment is total, and it is an absolute necessity to place yourself regularly in the top 3 of an event of this level. Competition is fierce between riders and their respective product developers. There is no easy victory and everything can go wrong in a split second. Julien and Bastien can bear witness to this with unfortunate falls at critical moments. Thankfully, they both made an impressive comeback to reach the final.
Still on a roll, Julien took a victory in the first round of the final. Tied with Francesco who could count on a victory point for having qualified directly for the final, Julien was in a position to win the whole thing before the second round of this final. But Francesco, reigning World Champion, had a perfect run in the last race and crossed the line in front of his teammates who secured a 100% GONG podium. An end result which also represents the provisional ranking of the Freefly-Slalom world championship before the confirmation of the calendar for the second half of the season.
Today we switch to Surf-Freestyle where we find Bastien and Francesco, joined by Malo and Max Robinson.
