The GONG Team is in the Canary Islands to defend its lead in the Surf-Freestyle and Freefly-Slalom world rankings!
The Wing Foil World Tour returns this Monday, July 28th, at the Sotavento spot. Its typically choppy and tricky waters, shaped by a strong side-off wind, will host the third Surf-Freestyle and second Freefly-Slalom competitions of the season.
It’s a long-anticipated comeback in Freefly-Slalom after the Leucate event, where our team riders Francesco Cappuzzo and Bastien Escofet took first and third place on a highly contested podium. Double reigning World Champion, Francesco is determined to solidify his lead in the championship. His biggest threat? Probably his teammate Bastien, who will be doing everything he can to push his Ypra Race setup ahead of the Italian’s.

The new surf-freestyle prodigy warming up
Joining the GONG team with a spectacular first win on the World Cup stage, showcasing innovative tricks, the best score, and highest heat average of the event, Benjamin Castenskiold has gone from promising outsider to a very serious title contender in just one competition.
This result puts him at the top of the championship leaderboard—a spot he clearly intends to keep. Judging by the intensity of his training sessions and the tricks he’s currently landing—such as the world first he pulled off last week—he’s not slowing down anytime soon.
With a team that includes Malo (2022 World Champion), Clément (2023 U16 World Champion), and the ultra-versatile Bastien, capable of excelling in any discipline, GONG is here to claim top honors in Fuerte. Fingers crossed the conditions allow for the kind of show these young talents are ready to deliver!
Follow them all starting July 28th on our social media and the GWA livestream.
