The new and ultra-light HIPE Cruzader 2025, queen of light wind and much more, seen by François, GONG ambassador.
Wing foiler: David, GONG staff, on his HIPE Cruzader, Droid Aramid, HM mast, Fluid front wing and stab.
One freeride session, one wave session
“Following up on my review of the HIPE Cruz 6'6 112 liters. I did two sessions. One in freeride and bumps, and another in solid head-high waves with 20/30 knot sideshore wind and the Ypra Surf 920 foil.
Well, this board is delightfully surprising thanks to both its stiffness (inflated to 18 psi), its glide, and its compact size. The board glides super well. You just bear away and off you go…”
Stability, comfort, and equipment
“Stability at a standstill isn’t the best I’ve ever had. The board is a bit thick and not very wide at the tips — but it’s still easy enough and floats well with its 112 liters.
The deck pad is ultra-comfortable, just like those on hard boards.
The foot straps are the same too, and their default position is spot-on.
In flight, it’s impressively easy — like all the Cruz boards — it cuts through the wind…”
Waves and manoeuvres
“In waves, honestly I didn’t notice a difference compared to my other boards — I do the same stuff… But, the foil feels smoother and gentler.
Note: I’m not saying it’s less rigid! Simply, the foil’s feedback feels creamier, softer, while staying just as high-performing. Proof is, I was using the Ypra Surf v3 920 cm² and a 3.5m Neutra X 2025 wing, and sometimes riding some seriously solid sets!
Really, for someone who doesn’t want to overthink things — just go for it! It works amazingly.
Everything goes — tacks, 360s, big turns, etc. I didn’t have the rear strap on, so no jumping.
All in all, at just 5.6 kg, it’s honestly a winner”
