About the New Wing Plus :
What are the changes in the shape?
The Outline is generally preserved because it offers an excellent compromise between ease of handling and pure performance.
The Profile is more powerful for two reasons:
– the main thing is that we added a hollow section : the Wing Plus is beastly, more aggressive and she accelerates very hard.
– the second is related to the addition of windows that stiffen up the profile, and give more power.
– What do you mean by a Deeper Hollow?
Unlike the Original Wing that we wanted to be soft and very mobile, the Wing Plus is more aggressive. We therefore advanced the hollow section to reduce this softness and progressiveness and marked the concave deeper. This is just a few percentages, so we are refining and honing an excellent Wing to give it the character that high level riders will look for.
– Is the New Wing is stiffer?
The Original Wing is rigid in its structure, but like windsurfing sails, we worked a lot on its ability to dump the overflow. It releases excess power to provide smooth, smooth glide. So do not confuse this ability to absorb with a lack of rigidity. It is voluntary and done on purpose !
Our Wings are built with a double layer at the Leading Edge on the central portions, which nobody proposes I think. And this material is the most rigid of the market.
The Wing Plus is less deformable in the gusts. We wanted a performance-oriented Wing, so when we pushed forward we created a Wing that is more ON / OFF. Pulled in you get torque, release and it’s neutral. This forward hollow section will limit the spill over.
At the same time we tightened and shortened the trailing edge to further limit the air release to keep power even in the gusts. The identical skeleton on the Wing Original and Wing Plus do not have the same power and control at all.
Once again, it’s about fine-tuning the design, from dozens of prototypes and hundreds of hours of navigational testing.
– Is it interesting for a beginner to start this sport directly with this Wing Plus?
A good Windsurfer will immediately find their place. It’s copy paste. For a beefcake, ditto: it’s ideal.
For a light weight, it needs to be discussed because they will have to absorb the power of a Wing Plus which as its name indicates gives a lot more.
– On the Forum, you say that in the high range, Wing Plus is more effective. What do you want to say precisely?
Indeed, the Original Wing will saturate when the winds are too high. On the contrary Wing Plus will devour it and convert it into hard acceleration. We jump higher, we go faster with the Plus, including in gusts.
