HOW TO: ROLLER

Simple turn off the top of the wave, the Roller is not something innate.

To succeed, it is necessary to pace the weight distribution on the rails and in the transitioning from one rail to another.
After a well-earned bottom turn, you continue with the carving of the bottom turn by extending it to the top of the wave, where you want to turn. Just before reaching the top of the wave, towards the top third, you put the board flat and you twist your shoulders towards the bottom of the wave where the trick will end. The top of your body, mainly your eyes and shoulders, must be ahead of what your feet are doing.
A good way to learn this is to surf with your hands. Use your hands in front of you as if they were a board you’re trying to guide. It will help you with projection.
Once the rail change is made, you have to push by letting the buttocks fall into the curve to radicalise it and hold the rail.
This is when you need to make a strong weight transfer. With the bottom turn you had a lot of weight on the back leg. Between the bottom turn and the Roller you shift the weight towards the front. At the top of the Roller you have to get the weight towards the back leg again. And at the exit of roller skating it will be necessary to shift it towards the front.
You may be surprised by the power of the carving because the effect is incredible. The pivot from the weight transfer highly increases the rotation of the board.
