Switch to a front footed stance to move into a higher register of performance with stability.
Finding the ideal position for your foil is about balancing your weight between the front and back of the board. As explained in this tutorial, the further forward you position the foil in the boxes, the more it will lift the board's nose, creating more of a rocker. The further back you move it, the less it will tend to lift the nose.
It's a matter of balance that evolves with your skill level and performance goals. As Patrice Guénolé, GONG's boss and shaper, explains in response to a question asked in our GONG Galaxy group.

Wingfoiler: Malo, GONG team rider, with a HIPE Cruzader and Plus wing.
"As for me, I position it around 10. The more you seek performance, the more resistance you need from the foil, which means placing it further forward.
Otherwise, you have to push with your back foot and open the wing to gain speed. This works at a beginner level but makes no sense at a higher level.
The goal is to have a very horizontal pull, like in kiteboarding, with a foil that naturally responds to that traction.
Translated to the automotive world, a foil positioned further back is like a rear-wheel-drive car—you push from the back to move forward. A foil positioned further forward is like a traction car—you pull from the front.
We know from experience that a front footed stance is much more autostable.”
