FORUM : ABOUT WING FOIL GEAR !!!
Our Forum is a fabulous place for exchanges. It allows us to stay as close as possible to you, and to give all our advice to help you make the right choice.
Many of you contact us on our Forum for a first purchase of Wings Foil equipment. Even if thanks to our Direct Sales System, we are able to offer you top of the range equipment at unbeatable prices, as it is a consequential budget. Based on this observation, some of you think that it would be better not to invest in beginner equipment, because the accessibility of this new sport allows you to progress quickly. So to avoid having to resell the equipment for something more efficient, some of you are wondering if it would not be wiser to invest in more efficient equipment right away, even if it means having a hard time and not taking pleasure in the beginning.
Here’s L’Our’s answer:
“Several points:
The first one is financial loss vs. rapid success: The after market loss off the products of the traditional network is much higher than that of GONG because our prices are already very low. So on the one hand, you won’t lose 30% to 40% when leaving the store at GONG, but rather 15% to 20%. But on top of that you will lose a smaller share of an amount half the amount because our live prices are unbeatable. In my opinion, once you realise this, you have no real reason to take the risk of getting gear that you feel you will upgrade soon. The Wing is a recent sport which means Second Hand gear will sell quick. I advise you to make your life easier with equipment on which you will succeed quickly.
Secondly, your speed of progression: You have to calibrate your thinking. If you think you can have an Expert level in ten sessions, investing in beginner equipment is a bad idea. But beware, your skills will help you but will not replace experience on the support.
Thirdly, your objective: If you want to fly in light wind, the Wing is not the best support. You have to be clear on this point. But the Kite is more risky and cumbersome to deal with, and Windsurfing is very expensive and bulky. So what level of practice are you aiming for? For example, a Zuma will allow you to go super far in the progression. A Lemon is great, but not necessarily the right compromise between difficulty and pleasure for you? You have the answer.
Thank you.”
