FEEDBACK: YPRA RACE
The foil our team riders use to win races on the world tour, as seen by Pierre — who describes himself simply as a passionate user!
Wing foiler: Bastien, GONG team rider, riding the Racer FSP Pro, Droid SP Aramid CZ, and Ypra Race foil.
Ypra Race 670
“Here’s a quick review of the Ypra Race 670 cm² foil… After a good fifteen sessions with it, here’s my personal take — as a passionate user, not an ambassador or a sponsored rider. I’ve tested it in a wide range of conditions: light wind (10 to 12 knots), up to a steady 35 knots, flat water with gusty wind in the south of France (the tramontane!), and small swells in Brittany with more stable winds.”
The Ypra Race in light wind
“In light wind, it lifts off effortlessly with the right setup: Cruz + Droid 6.5. Acceleration is impressive with the slightest puff, so it glides through lulls without issue. It’s also pumpable, though I definitely felt that’s not its main strength. The real advantage is the minimal drag — it lets you go very fast, very easily, with a remarkable upwind angle. The 112 cm mast allows for heavy leaning without the board touching the water or the wingtip breaching.”
The Ypra Race in strong wind
“In strong wind, no issues — the handling is very smooth. I never got thrown off. I also didn’t push it excessively. Using small wings (like a Neutra 3m² in 35 knots), the foil remains extremely high-performing. I’m not a pro, I don’t race, and my goal isn’t to go as fast as possible. This foil is just very efficient and super easy to control.”
Personal speeds
“In terms of speed, acceleration is lightning-fast, but top-end isn’t better than the Ypra Slalom. That’s probably on me — I don’t go beyond 25 knots, which suits me perfectly. For handling chop and waves, small bumps up to 70–80 cm disappear underfoot. Swell is still manageable, though you’re much faster than it. I didn’t do any free-fly — that’s not really what this foil is about.
All in all, an amazing foil — very easy and very high-performing.”

Hi, i would like to use the 112cm Mast in choppy freshwater for kiteracing with the small frontwing … are there any experiences for ventilation?
Long masts often have problems with ventilation.
(I am sure, in saltwater is everything perfect)
Thx and kind regards
