FEEDBACK: WING NEUTRA V2

The easiest way to measure the evolutions of the new Neutra V2 is to take it out on the water as Julien did, who shares his first impressions with us.

“Here is a little feedback from the Neutra V2 that I chose in Black Edition. Only a few changes are visible to the eye between the V1 and the V2 but its behavior changes a lot. Here’s what I noticed:

  • Higher trailing edge tension (explaining the biggest change on the water);
  • Different ends of the struts: the end of the tips thickens and the central strut is thinner;
  • The cap of the valve closes with a 1/4 of a turn;
  • Thinner handles.

On the water

For inflation to begin with, I prefer the new system, it’s faster. As much as the differences on land are minimal to the eye, the behavior on the water changes a lot. The sail is much stiffer, with a much better responsiveness. Saturday, the wind was light (10/15 knots) and I managed to take off without a problem on the 5m where it would have been really difficult before.

When pumping, you have the feeling that the wing is not moving and the energy is transferred to the board, making the movements much more efficient. In the light I am delighted, to such an extent that I will probably sell my 6m. It remains to be seen if it also works when overpowered. I could test this on Sunday and Monday with a much more consistent wind (20/25 knots and a few gusts at 30). Same feeling of rigidity on the 4m but still without being unpleasant, the wing holds up well and is super neutral in the surf (with its name I expected this much ;)). We still have more rear hand which makes it a little more physical but it’s still okay. Happy with the wing in stronger conditions as well, the wing holds very well in the gusts and remains healthy, so no worries on this side. I didn’t like the thinner handles though, maybe a habit to take, some prefer. Finally, the harness line attachment gets a little out of tune because having more rear hand, the rear attachment is too far forward and I preferred to attach it directly to the base of the handle so that it is more balanced. Overall, I am very happy with this V2 which has kept the very good basis of the V1 and which has been able to improve it further. As a (former) windsurfer, I really liked its rigidity which greatly improves the low range and gives a more direct feeling. If I exaggerate, I would say that with the 5 I had the feeling of the old 4 with the power of the 6. 😉 ”
