FEEDBACK: WING NEUTRA 5M² !!!

“Hi everyone, I wanted to share with you my beginners experience with the Neutra

 I started wing foiling recently. I have done a lot of sessions but I still consider myself a beginner. I am in the jibing stage. I wing with a Zuma 6’3 and the XL Curve Foil. I went through a GONG Wing Plus, then Pulse and now Neutra, all in 5m.

The shape

What strikes once inflated, versus the Pulse, is the diameter of the leading edge and also the shape : much more dihedral and more worked central strut. It’s not telling in the photos but in real life it is.

Then, big difference in weight, I weighed my 2020 Pulse at 3.8kg against 2.7kg for the Neutra. Obviously, less handles and battens play, and I think that in the water it’s even more telling because the handles must soak up water.

Finally, inevitably we gain a few precious minutes in the rigging (no battens) but especially when unrigging (the absence of battens and especially the deflate valve of the central strut is really a plus).

Now for the test on the water, I would like to point out that given my level, you have to take my opinion with a grain of salt, but it may interest some.

The feeling of lightness

Already the feeling of lightness is really confirmed, even more because of the better rigidity. We really have the throttle on the back hand so we can regulate and especially neutralize it, it reminds me a lot of my windsurf sails and I like it.

The wingspan

Then the smaller wingspan makes it easier to navigate but especially in pumping I find. Less contact with the water = more efficiency.

The conditions were 15/20 knots I think and I can’t wait to test it in lighter conditions to see if my impression of starting earlier is confirmed.

Finally, a factual element, while I stomped only a few jibes before the test, I managed to make a lot of jibes during my session. It is partly due to my progress but facilitated by the Neutra I think.
