FEEDBACK: VELOCE XL-H

Feedback from Nicolas who tested the Veloce XL-H in what he considers to be his low wind range.
“There are a lot of reports circulating lately with the HA Tour and the opportunity for a lot of people to test the new HA range… I just tested a few of these foils but I wanted to focus on the Veloce XL-H which particularly appealed to me!
Yet it wasn’t one I would have first thought of making part of my quiver one day. Sometimes you have to get over looks and see for yourself how it behaves. For instance, for this foil in light winds…
Why didn’t I think of it for myself? I’m a big fan of the Fluid M-H which is 1000.I did not find the usefulness of another surface so close, because the Veloce XL-H is only 1150… But here I am, having replaced my Fluid L-S with a Fluid M-H, I’m thinking about the one that would succeed to my Veloce XL-T of 1620… I first thought of an HA in the 1500… but that means the Veloce XXL-H or the Fluid XL-H and there we have wingspans which in wing foiling did not tempt me at all. So it was with little faith in it that I put on this Veloce XL-H on a light day (12/15 knots) with a Pulse 6m… I couldn’t believe I would fly, but when you have gear to test, well, you test it no matter what the conditions are…
“Once in the air, great glide, good top speed.”
So, surprisingly with the great glide of my HIPE Pro 4’6 and the power of the Pulse, all you need is a little traction in your arms, let it glide and it takes off easily. That being said, it’s not a beginner’s wing either.
Once in the air, great glide, good top speed (I got up to 43 km/h without forcing too much) speed that is maintained in the transitions, I had a blast… At the end of the day, I think I take off almost as early as with the Veloce XL-T despite a huge difference in surface, and I take off much earlier than with the Fluid M-H despite the little difference in surface… My learning is that on these new high aspect H range, you don’t have consider the surface that much since the shape and the wingspan change completely… you have to think rather that an M is an M, an L an L and an XL an XL …
My 2023 quiver is now chosen: Fluid M-H, Veloce XL-H and I keep my Fluid XXL-T for ultra light days at less than 10 knots…
Tchuss and thank you Patrice Guénolé and the whole GONG team for the opportunity to test the gear!”
