FEEDBACK : Strutless V3 !!!

“I’ ve had 5 outings with the V3 12m.
Foiling for 3 years now and this is my 3rd 12m.
– the 1st : a big Brand wave Kite : super agile, de-power, very smooth on the bar and the drift : super. BUT so heavy from reinforcements that it fell out of the sky at 10kts.
– The 2nd : Another that was a one strut, not much better with hold in under 10 kts, so I got quite a few sessions where I swam back, on the other hand I found that I didn’t lose much in high wind range. A Kite that was quite thin that stuck right in the edge of the window in the crosswinds and then became very difficult to move and would jerk me hard. Impossible to trim because then she wouldn’t turn at all.!!
– and now the 3rd, the Strutless GONG V3 : Incredibly light on the bar, instant de-power, water start power and above all way better hold in the air : I am way more composed and serene than with the Kites I had before. In fact I navigate in spots where the coast is broken up quite a bit : lulls in the wind are frequent above all when the wind is around 10 kts and the lulls can drop to 6 kts.
1st outing : the 69cm GONG Brand 27m lines, without extensors : very gusty winds : 10-14 kts, with batten installed.
In the high end, but it’s not hard, I can handle the Kite easily, and I prefer not to trim more than 2cm, I manage by limiting the speed through the crosswinds by sheeting a little. Suddenly I realise that I’m at my limit because because the trailing edge vibrates a little, and I can feel it in the bar, but it remains subtle, and cause no fearful reaction.
2nd outing : 8kts – the type of conditions in which I was never able to take advantage of before, and still without extensions and the batten….
Huge sudden lull : I had to pull a downloop+kiteloop to get going and the Kite was stable and didn’t fall, and once off again I had good speed, as well as upwind heading : and before, in these same conditions, I would lose ground every time…
3rd outing : Even less wind, 8 asthmatic knots, I took out the batten just to gain a few extra grams of lightness and hold int he air. I put on some extensions of 8m (so 35m) and the revelation : no need to downloop to take off, just need to balance the kite in the zenith and she generates sick speed when accelerating : I got on my Foil directly each try! the upwind was still sweetie nd I was full on in 8kts……..air jibes cake : flat water of course and good hold in the zenith when switching feet and lil’ downloop and she turns on a dime.
3 other bros on witefoil that day : one swam back to shore, one who could get any heading, and the third who combined the other two : hard upwind and swimming back…
In brief, I love this Kite, thanks!!”
