Feedback from Tien Tran who had the opportunity to test the Pulse Boom over several sessions, in light wind conditions and in a stronger wind.

Wing foiler: Mathieu, GONG team rider, with the Pulse Boom on a Lethal FSP Pro.

“New 150X25 bag (windsurf sail type). Full carbon boom, which is quite thin and very pleasant with its EVA grip. Fixing system on the central strut works with a US nut. Inflation of the wing and there we feel that the new boom attachment system does not move at all, it’s solid. I had 3 tests in light wind conditions, about 8/13 knots, waves of 50 cm.

Pumping with the boom is very effective, though you have to be more precise. The handling of the boom is very intuitive, nothing moves. The central strut doesn’t move at all. However, I’m not sure of winning in low range compared to a Neutra 2023, the pumping is less technical but more physical due to the added weight of the boom.

When sailing, being accustomed to the windowless Neutra 2023, I found the placement of the windows of the Pulse really well placed in the field of vision. It’s really very pleasant, the Pulse constantly has power on demand. You can sheet in forever and still have room to move ?.

Jibs, tacks, very easy, with the boom everything comes to hand, a treat.

In the tacks the Pulse switches from one tip to the other with incredible ease thanks to its Low Draw System, which makes maneuvers even easier. A few waves with a side on wind, in freefly the Pulse tends to touch the water due to the boom and the light wind, my Neutra would certainly have done the same thing but perhaps a little less accentuated. But it’s not its designed use even if it does the job very well ?.

4th test and this time in a steady wind of 15 to 25 knots on a flat body of water. The practice it’s designed for ?.

I lock the Pulse and clearly we immediately feel that it is made to set speed records. The potential for power is even more present in strong wind, it only seeks to accelerate. I had the impression of never reaching its limit ?.

The upwind heading is greater than with the Neutra.

In navigation, the Pulse is really ultra stable, it does not move.

In the gusts it remains locked ahead where my Neutra tends to go in all directions. Impressive, we understand better why it is intended for racing. Turns are really done at full throttle, you commit more which makes maneuvers even easier, when exiting turns, you catch up with the boom by just sliding your hand along the boom (no hand placement error possible).

To sum up, it’s a great wing for cruising on the flat, overtaking friends at full speed and a boom that brings direct contact with the wind, which makes it more physical in navigation than a wing with a soft handle. A dismantable boom system that is as strong as a fixed system. Windows are placed ideally in the field of vision. Windsurfers will love it (we are clearly getting closer to the sensations of windsurfing).

Great gear, once again like the whole 2023 range.
