For any surfer there is a before and an after having tried a good fish surfboard! The performance in medium waves is insane and your wave count is boosted as Jacques explains in his feedback below.
“I loved the polished carbon wood finish of the board when I opened the package. Incredible at this price. Even my friends who were skeptical about GONG admitted it looked gorgeous.
I had another fish that I bought secondhand that I was having trouble catching waves with. Not really adapted to the Mediterranean and its choppy waves that aren’t hollow. I tried the PIE of a friend, and it was a revelation. I sold my board and bought a GONG Pie. Admittedly, no fine fiberglass keel molded on an orange board made in US, but on the other hand, as soon as I got into the water I kept taking waves. In addition, I never went below 42 / 45L. On Patrice’s advice I took a 39L and it’s perfect for my 75 kg. From the first paddle strokes you feel good on it. No adaptation time, it works straight away. Classic shape, successful, no commercial nonsense… a shape that works ??.
I would also like to thank Patrice Guénolé and Fred from the staff whom I annoyed with questions (at least 15 emails). They always took the time to advise me, answer me, reassure me about my choices.
