FEEDBACK: MOB 7'6 COOL FSP2X

Review about the Mob Cool FSP 2X by Lalo who could test this all-terrain board in a wide range of conditions.

“It took me a while to post a review on this board that I have owned for more than 4 months now. Conditions have been sparse the last few months and I only share feedback when I’ve been able to really test the board in good and varied conditions. After 18 sessions I think I can make an objective review of the board.
The board is beautiful, I really like the sober but colorful decoration.
- The finish is very clean, nothing to complain about.
- PVC sandwich construction on deck and hull with depressurization valve placed on the deck, integrated in the pad. Super efficient and comfortable 5mm pad, carrying handle.
- For the fins it is a quad set-up on FCSII box.
- The shape is super compact, we have 120 liters within a 7’6″ board.
- Domed deck and thin rails, swallow tail which should give maximum maneuverability and which, associated with the final vee of the hull, should give a more exciting rail to rail.
- The hull is fine tuned with a slight convexity (called belly on classic longboards). Then this belly turns into a concave in the center to finish in a double concave at the front side fins with a vee at the end. This hull design is done to accelerate the water under the hull (and therefore the board above) as much as possible with good maneuverability at the tail.
I was blown away by the ability of the board to surf in conditions like this…
The first test of this board I did in conditions not at all intended for this shape… 2m very hollow, strong rips and big chop (15/18 knots of side-on wind ), in short, the forecast had been terribly wrong that day! The Karmen 8’4″ or the Zero 9 would have been perfect… but I didn’t have them! So I went anyway!
The board is super stable for its length, there are 120 liters and the volume is centered with a round nose that puts the board well on the water, it’s reassuring in a messy line-up, and very comfortable in normal conditions. I was blown away by the ability of the board to surf in conditions like this…the hardest part was controlling the speed of the board and its playfulness which is great in softer waves than that day, but not for a first session like this. But it did the job without any problems with an easy take off and a healthy ride in all circumstances.
I was able to catch some very good waves with pretty committed turns! Phew! Now back to its normal range of use, namely 50cm to 1m80, hollow or soft, glassy or windy, I was able to test everything. As its shape suggested, the board is super nervous and ultra fast. It’s a pinball that allows you to speed up or slow down on demand in choppy waves to always place yourself in the right place in the wave.
In soft waves the speed generated is just amazing.
Which allows you to really surf the rail for big S turns or flat to send big tail slides for example. The rail to rail is phenomenal, you can wrap tight or long curves as you want. We can break the trajectory at any time to hit the lip or escape a closing section. The big cutbacks on soft portions are done with ease with re-entries on the foam.
In more hollow waves it works wonderfully, allowing you to get vertical easily with this vee at the back foot and its short length. The top turns are so fun and the floaters easy with its width and its belly which gives softness to the landing.
It’s a board that I love and it excels in soft waves from 0.5m to 1.50m.It is so good that my wife took the same. Although it is in the Cool range, it is super radical when you push it! (I’m not talking about my wife, but about the board).”
