FEEDBACK: MH 85 MAST

Feedback from Frédéric who had the opportunity to test the new High Modulus 85 mast in wing foiling.

“Here’s my feedback on the CARBON MAST HM 85cm. I’ve been testing this mast for 10 days in different conditions, from 12 to 30 knots, in flat conditions but above all very choppy, like 3m swell ;), with the Fluid M-H and Ypra L-H. Note that I am 86kg right now.
“There is no room for weird movements, it is super precise.”
I usually ride with the CARBON MAST V2 85cm, but I used to have the aluminum v1 and Carbon v1 next. I have limited experience with the aluminum v2.
I find it better on the takeoff, it responds better under the feet. This is probably related to its rigidity.
During big full speed runs you can take a crazy angle and it doesn’t move. We can push on it without approximation. At mid-height there is not really any difference, however, as soon as you sail high it glides much better, you get more speed, more easily.
Finally, what strikes me the most is the precision of the piloting, versus the v2, but in both ways… I mean by this that your actions are the perfect reflection of your actions. This is great for precision in whatever you do good, but whatever you do wrong you’re gonna have to pay for it (with a splash).
In the surfs and DW, there is no room for weird movements, it is super precise. You can recover from imbalances easily. More speed also means higher, more committed jumps. Its precision when popping for a jump allows you to go through your coming trick with confidence… This results in a better success rate in landings.
I would conclude that jibe and tacks…are facilitated by its finesse and rigidity.”
